  1. we have Fiestaware and bought a Kitchenaide Architect II late last summer. A tip I found on this forum was to take a few dinner plates with you to the store and load them in the dishwashers. This was so helpful, as some of the dishwashers were not a good fit for Fiestaware.
  2. I have had a Bernina 830 for the past 20 years. Bought it used. It has been a wonderful machine. While I don't sew much now, it was put to alot of use while my daughters were growing up. Now, it is used mainly for repairs. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine!
  3. okay, I am starting to get worried about the price even with good dental coverage. Can you give me an idea what the price of getting all 4 of them extracted with being put to sleep?
  4. My dd is getting her 4 wisdom teeth taken out the beginning of February. They are impacted. She will be put out for the procedure. I was surprised when they told me that 99% of the time it is the dental insurance that is billed, not the medical. This is not the same office that my other dc went to to get theirs removed. I think when they had theirs removed the majority of the work was billed to the medical insurance. They are supposed to get back to me to let me know my portion of the bill. I believe I will pay more going through my dental insurance that I would through medical insurance. Is this normal that it will be considered dental and not medical?
  5. my contract is up with ATT and I need to find another carrier. ATT is just way too expensive. It looks like I could get the best price from Sprint, but have heard horror stories about their service. So what phone carrier do you have and are you happy with it? I am happy with ATT, just not happy about their price!
  6. I just dropped off my son at the airport. He is flying to Lima, Peru. He will be backpacking through South America for the next two months. He is with a friend and his wife. I will not be able to contact him. He will be able to call me when he has Wi-Fi, every couple of weeks. I am excited for him, but also a little apprehensive!
  7. Four of my grandkids live 4 1/2 hours away and we see them on average every 4-6 weeks. Last year we had them for 2 weeks in the summer and we will make that an annual event. We are very close to them. My other grandson lives 26 hours away. Due to finances, he was 18 months old before we saw him for the first time when we visited last August. They also came for Thanksgiving. About the time he gets to know us, its time to go home. We might not see him for another 2 years. Its a long trip up there and we would not be able to make it again next year. We have 4 younger kids and could not afford to fly. It tears my heart out. I want to be a part of all of my grandkids lives. I want them to know us well and share experiences with them and take them places. If they lived here, it would probably be 3 or 4 times a week.
  8. Since this is running through the family, not just the baby, and the fact that with most stomach bugs you are contagious before you come down with symptoms I would say no. There is a difference in your dd being at rehearsal with the girl and being in very close contact in a vehicle. So, "I'm sorry, but that will not work out for me."
  9. I am looking for book series for my 14 you ds for Christmas. He is an avid reader. Series that he has read include Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Alex Rider, Heroes of Olympus. I found the following series online, but can't find what age they are appropriate for: The Chronicles of Prydain The Ranger's Apprentice Brotherband Chronicles Any information on these series or other series you can recommend would be greatly appreciated.
  10. I fall on the side of being devasted if one of my dc kept such an important event like this quiet. Especially my dd's. i have kept a pregnancy quiet from my dad for a few months due to the fact that I had a history of miscarriages and he already thought I had too many dc. But never past the 5 month mark. But, my dc and I have a very close relationship and they know I would support and pray for them.
  11. I have not read all of the responses. I am personally affected by this as I live about 10 minutes away from Ferguson. As I am sitting here watching the tv coverage and watching the fires and the looting, I am just sickened. I have 4 dc and their families coming into town from 4 different areas. Some are driving very long distances, the farthest being over 24 hours away. It will be the first time in a few years all 10 of my dc and grandchildren will all be together. Now I am concerned and will have to see if things calm down tomorrow to see if we should advise them not to come. We have planned this weekend for the past 6 months. Peaceful protests are certainly everyone's constitutional right, but this is far from peaceful.
  12. I am going to be buying the Master Set of Magnatiles for my grandchildren for Christmas. I have a 25% off coupon for Lakeshore Learning that expires tonight. That brings the price down to around $98. Will this be the best price before Christmas? Do they maybe go on sale on Cyber Monday?
  13. I am going to buy the largest set of Magnatiles for my grandchildren for Christmas. Could someone tell me who has the best prices on them and if they run better sales on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Also, how do you store them. I am going to buy a quality container for them, but have no idea what size I would need,
  14. my dd got 13 inches cut off her hair a couple of years ago and we donated to Wigs 4 Kids.
  15. Has anyone used Horizons Algebra and can give me an opinion on it? My 9th grade ds did Horizons Pre-Algebra last year and did great in it. Because Horizons does not go beyond Algebra I decided to use Algebra: A Fresh Approach with him. I had planned on using this throughout high school. I am not sure why, but it is not working out. I like the looks of Horizons Algebra, just didn't like that their high school math did not go further than this. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
  16. my dh had the same reaction to his flu shot this year. Bothered him for a few days and then he was fine. This is the first year he has had this kind of reaction.
  17. Does anyone know if the general public is able to obtain a transcript of a civil lawsuit trial? I assume that there would be a cost involved, but was just wondering if it is possible. Thanks.
  18. Parenthood, NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, The Voice, Person of Interest, Last Man Standing, Shark Tank, Blue Bloods
  19. When we were on vacation a couple of weeks ago there was Poo paper plates and napkins at a gift store in Glacier National Park in Montana!
  20. Yes, the grandbabies are definitely a big draw! I wanted to them to know who we are and to be a big part of their lives. We are very close to the grandbabies 4 1/2 hours away. It's more difficult with our grandson 26 hours away, but we Skype alot.
  21. We have 4 dc that live in different areas of the country than we do. My dd lives 4 1/2 hours from us and has 4 of my grandbabies. We try and visit at least once every six weeks. I have a wonderful SIL who tells us we are welcome to come as often and stay as long as we like. Because its hard to travel that distance with 4 dc under the age of 5, they will visit us about 4 or 5 times a year. I have another dd who lives 26 hours away. We just came back from our 1st visit, she has been married 3 years. We saw my 18 mo grandson for the first time. They come to see us once a year, but due to circumstances was unable to last year. We couldn't visit them before now due to my dh having an accident off the roof and needing two surgeries on his ankle. I have a single ds who lives 5 hours away. We visit him about once a year, he will visit us about 4 times a year. My other ds doesn't stay in one place for very long because of contract work, so he will visit us about 4 or 5 times a year. When I was reading the IL thread on how far away and how often they visit, I couldn't imagine not visiting as often as we do. In fact, we are visiting my dd now for the holiday weekend that lives 4 1/2 hours. It is important to me that my grandchildren know us. We also started a yearly tradition and had my 4 grandchildren at our house for two weeks this summer!!!!!! So, how often do you visit your dc?
  22. I am using Skedtrack this year after using Edu-track for years. I cannot figure out how to print out a whole weeks worth of lesson plans? Could a more experienced user help me with this? Thanks in advance!
  23. We are actually leaving Sunday to see my dd and her family in Montana. We plan on staying in Rapid City on Sunday night and Monday night. We plan on seeing Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park. It will just be a quick trip but we are excited.
  24. this warning has been on our local news a couple of times this summer. I had never heard of it before. We have a pool and my kids are in it daily. I do watch them carefully since I saw this on the news.
