DH doesn't get it, but I knew you guys would...
Angela in GA replied to LunaLee's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Woohoo! I LOVED my Amazon Prime Shipping. I got mine for free because I was a college student too! However, I moved to Alaska last month. Sadly, I can't get Prime shipping anymore. So sad, so very sad. I miss it so. :-) -
LAst week's pie...
Angela in GA replied to fairfarmhand's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Please do share! My dh loves peanut butter. He hasn't been too happy with me lately, so maybe this will butter him up a bit. :tongue_smilie: Thanks! -
You're welcome! I would be interested in hearing how you cook it and how it comes out. We're living in a hotel right now...have been hotel living for a month, have only a couple of more days left. However, my household goods won't be delivered until after the first of the year. So, it'll be a while before I can try it, but I sure do want to! lol

iPhone questions
Angela in GA replied to Amy loves Bud's topic in General Education Discussion Board
If you have an iPhone, you have to have a data plan. Both of my big kids have Itouches and regular cell phones. That way I don't have to pay for the data plan. :p As far as being able to filter the internet, I haven't found a way to do it yet. You can make it so they aren't able to access the internet, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having an Itouch. -
Question about pie pumpkins?

CNN: Average teen sends 3,339 texts per month
Angela in GA replied to idnib's topic in General Education Discussion Board
For once in his life, my ds (16) is above average. He sent/received over 10,000 in our last billing cycle. I may have been a bit sarcastic just then...he's not on my good list right now. I really wanna throttle him as soon as he walks through the door from school, but I'll play nice and wait a minute or two. Grrrrr. :p Honestly, I'm sick of seeing my two high schoolers with a cell phone AND iPod Touch in their hands at the same time. Absolutely sick of it. -
So, I bought a pie pumpkin. I have no idea how to cook it. Help! :-)

Camcorder recommendations?
Angela in GA replied to ~Tara~'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
I have a Flip HD. LOVE it! It's super easy to use, and the video quality is great! It isn't very spendy either! -
You could make Frito salad. This is a family favorite right now. Everyone eats it, which is amazing. :p Dump some fritos in a bowl, top with chopped romaine lettuce, taco seasoned ground beef, shredded cheese and catalina dressing. Yummmmm. Too bad I already have dinner planned for tonight. Now I'm craving frito salad. ;)

Best way to do Alaska?
Angela in GA replied to PeterPan's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We are moving to AK in December. My dh is military and will be stationed in Fairbanks. Reading this thread has made me get very excited! We have been stationed there before, from 99-01, and LOVED it! :-) -
Anyone in Phenix City, AL/Columbus, GA area?
Angela in GA replied to freeindeed's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I don't live there anymore, but I lived in Columbus for 5 years. I may be able to help. ;-) Which hotel are you wondering about? -
We ONLY buy bike shop quality bikes for our kids. It may sound snooty, but it's not. It's actually a bit difficult for us to afford bike shop bikes. lol. However, we just got rid of a bike that lasted through 4 kids. I think we paid $150 when we bought it. Divide that by 4 kids, it was a steal of a deal. We just bought an awesome BMX bike for our 8 year old. I think we paid about $250. Definitely worth it.

Any one use Fulbright's astronomy notebooking journal
Angela in GA replied to 3and3's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I was planning to start Zoology 2 on August 2nd. However, now I'm thinking I'll wait until the notebook is out. I wonder if CBDs date is accurate? I hope so! We're moving to AK in December and will be without our household goods for several months, so I can't really afford to wait any later than mid-August to start. lol. -
Update on the storm/volcano...
Angela in GA replied to Dayle in Guatemala's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Our church is sending a team to GC on Sunday. They're helping the Hope for Tomorrow Orphanage. We are praying they will still be able to go. It's a tragic situation. -
Anyone have experience with weight loss surgery?
Angela in GA replied to KIN's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I had Lapband surgery a year and a half ago. I've lost about 80 pounds. I have about 20 left. I'm 5'7 and started over 250 pounds. I'm about 180, give or take 2 pounds right now. I would totally do it again. I've not had any complications at all. The reason I chose the Lapband over Gastric Bypass is because I didn't want to regain the weight I've lost. I know a lot of people who have had Gastric done and 5-10 years later regain the weight. With the Lapband, I'll have it for the rest of my life. I by chance I gain some weight, I can always have an adjustment and go on my merry way. That being said, you do have to make wise food choices. Could I have lost weight faster? Probably. However, I don't completely deny myself of foods I like to eat. I don't eat Twinkies though. :p I also exercise frequently. In aim to run 2-3 miles 5 times a week. Sometimes I only get to it twice, sometimes it's 6. HTH! -

Sony Ericsson phone owners...
Angela in GA replied to hsmom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We've had several Samsungs. I love them. They're my preferred brand. ;-) As for an Iphone not being durable, in our experience, I would have to disagree. My dh has had his for over a year. He's VERY rough on things like that. He's dropped it a bazillion times, he even accidentally chucked it across the room. :glare: Surprisingly, it has held up just fine! We use Ifrogz cases...I recommend them to everyone. The Otterbox might be better, but it makes the phone HUGE! Anyway, back to the original poster, try a Samsung. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :-)
