Wipe down the walls and cabinets. Wash light fixtures and switches. Mop under the fridge, stove, washer and dryer. Get a few plants. Spider plants will recycle the air in a room in about 48hrs.
I just made meatloaf for dinner. Here is the way we like it best.
1.5 lbs of ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
3 eggs
3/4c oatmeal
pepper
1 onion chopped
optional: 1 green pepper chopped or grated carrots.
Mix together and bake at 350 degrees for approx one hour or until brown.
The other recipe that we like is
1pkt lipton onion soup
1/2 to 3/4 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup hot water
pepper
1.5lbs of ground beef
3 eggs
1/2 to 1 cup shredded carrots
mix the first 4 ingredients together and let set 10 minutes. Add the pepper ground beef and eggs (carrrots if you like them). Top with ketchup and brown sugar (mix to taste approx 2:1 ratio). bake at 350 for an hour.
This recipe is great with the carrots added. The ketchup and brown sugar really give the meatloaf good flavor. I have used the splenda brown sugar blend for this and it works well.
My kids don't like eggs but when we make egg pizza they love it. Basically its an omelet that has veggies and a little bacon or ham with cheese on top and is not folded in half. The veggies and cheese hide the egg. I serve it with toast.
Where in the Cape Fear region are you looking at? We live in a rural setting between Wilmington and Jacksonville and about 1.5 hours from Raleigh. We have an abundance of options due to where we live and my willingness to drive a bit. The cost of living is a bit higher here because as I keep hearing "everyone wants to live at the beach".
We don't have any dressers. In my closet we have baskets on shelves for socks and panties and such. I hang up everything else even jammies. For the children I hang all of the kids clothes and they have a little 3 drawer plastic thing for socks and panties.

I have just the opposite problem. My son is very tiny he is 4years old and 29lbs. When he gets upset I just remind him that everyone is different and that its a boring world where everyone looks the same. When ds can't keep up with sister I remind him that there are things he can do that sister can't. I also keep a few things on hand that are for him only when sister is doing something he is not physically able to.
I make sure each one has 14 pairs of socks and underwear and then enough outfits for 7-10 days. Of those outfits I try to make sure that the tops and bottoms can be mixed. As for jammies they each have 5-7 days worth. This is my motivation to keep up with the laundry.
Huggies and the Costco brands worked best for my babies but I really think it depends on the baby. Each diaper is cut a little smaller here and bigger there so depending on the shape of your baby one diaper will work better than others.
