  1. That is awesome; thanks for listening to ppl's recommendations. I was wondering if there is a way to print a whole book in one go without having to find all the separate bits it's been divided up into? For things like Daily Language Review it's very time consuming to find all the 36 weeks and printing them out separately. TIA
  2. and if you're ordering from there you could also pick up: http://www.rainbowresource.com/proddtl.php?id=040642 my kids enjoy that too :)
  3. We also get it free via our library's website; we've used Little Pim in French and it's been good for increasing the kid's vocabulary. My son finds it too "baby-ish" and doesn't care for it much but my younger two love it.
  4. We read the collection as a read aloud last year and the kids didn't really care for it much :( However last week we listened to The Collected Stories of Winnie-the-Pooh (read by Stephen Fry, Jane Horrocks, Geoffrey Palmer, Judi Dench, Sandi Toksvig, Finty Williams, Robert Daws, Michael Williams, Steven Webb - basically quite a few awesome British actors) during a long car journey and the kids were hooked! We listened to the 4CDs and the kids asked for us to start from the beginning again... I think the "play" on voices of the different characters makes a huge difference. We got our copy from the library, it looks like http://www.amazon.com/The-Collected-Stories-Winnie---Pooh/dp/0307706109/
  5. I bought the whole package (with light blue, blue, green & golden series). My son is loving it and it's working great for us! The only thing though is so far we've only used the light blue series as I haven't found the need to supplement with the other series so far. I probably should just have purchased the Light Blue alone! If you're just supplementing on specific topics and not as a main math curriculum you can probably get a better deal by buying the single books you need during a sale.
  6. Thanks; something else for the to read list :P
  7. Ok thanks! I'll let you know if I come across it at a reasonable price.
  8. Thanks HG! I didn't realize there were so many required parts to this program! Does anyone know if the CD sold separately is different than the CDs which come included with some of the books....?
  9. I'd like to purchase Alex et Zoe but I can't figure out which books I actually need, it looks like some packages overlap their contents so I'm just getting confused  Is the Cahier de L'eleve the same as the Cahier d'Activites? I presume I need the Guide Pedagogique 1: http://www.bookdepository.com/Alex-ET-Zoe-ET-Compagnie-Nouvelle-Edition/9782090383324 Then do I need http://www.bookdepository.com/Alex-ET-Zoe-ET-Compagnie-Nouvelle-Edition-Colette-Samson/9782090383300 as well as http://www.bookdepository.com/Alex-ET-Zoe-ET-Compagnie-Nouvelle-Edition-Colette-Samson/9782090383317 or just http://www.bookdepository.com/Alex-ET-Zoe-ET-Compagnie-Samson/9782090316650 (& feel free to recommend a different site to purchase it from). TIA!
  10. other ones we've enjoyed: Turtle: The Incredible Journey Microcosmos
  11. HSBC is the cheapest I know of atm at $56ish: https://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/reading-eggs/
  12. I'm not sure as I didn't purchase our subscription there but if you have to start with a fresh new account there will be a placement test to start so it will place your child at the right level anyway. (or) I've also noticed that if copy/paste the link of the webpage during the "Egg" lesson (so the lesson your child is currenlty doing on the old account) into the new account it will update the previous eggs as completed on the new account too so your child's not repeating any lessons. The link would be something like this: http://readingeggs.com/lessons/65 (with the number at the end varying depending on where your child is at). I hope that made sense :S lol
  13. We start at 8am and it's been working great for us (though I have early risers, they're up by 6am usually).
  14. My 1st grader is 6.5; however we don't stick to first grade materials for his curriculum, we go by his abilities.
  15. We have Netflix so we use the recommendations from here: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/historical-movies-and-documentaries-to-supplement-the-story-of-the-world-volume-one/
  16. I just use the free worksheets. I've done the trial but "all" you get is to download two of the workbooks (and they don't contain that many pages either). When I looked at the current workbooks being offered there were only 2 that I was interested in anyway... In my opinion there isn't sufficient variety/choice at the moment to make it worth a membership.
  17. :iagree: all the games and websites recommended before each chapter do make it fun already :)
  18. I've been wondering for the past few months what to do for our timeline... Looking at photos it seems that Lizards and Ladybugs' timeline is very complete & I love how satorismiles found the option to store them on a ring with the hang tags. Would someone mind sending me their files for the cards as it looks like the Blog's been deleted. I'd really appreciate the help! (I'll PM you my email address instead of posting it here)
  19. I hesitated for quite a while too then chose Atelier when it was on offer on HSBC last time. Meet the Masters is cheaper & gives more art history than Atelier. On the other hand Meet the Masters needs more teaching time (you get the text that you have to read to the child while showing slides etc) whereas Atelier is just pressing the play button on the DVD player... As a not-so-artsy mom I thought Atelier would be easier for us and this way I know it will actually get done. My kids have done a few projects already and they're loving it.
  20. As ppl have already mentioned it would depend on the State you lived in. I presume your son would be starting Reception this year in the UK? My son started "Reception" in the UK but when we moved mid year to IL, USA he had to wait for the next school year to be in Kindergarten due to birthday cut off dates. When he finally got to start Kindergarten he was extremely bored as he had already covered the curriculum in the time he'd been in Reception... So in my experience Reception really is similar to Kindergarten even though Reception is aimed at 4-5yr olds and Kindergarten is 5-6 yr olds. If your son seems ready I'd go ahead and start "Kindergarten" level work.
