  1. NO! DH is a VP in an elementary school. That would not be allowed in his school. Sent to see the VP yes, depending on the the situation either in school supension or call a parent to have them picked up. But the office would know the kids history and deal with the child in the best way possible.
  2. I have 4 kids so far. We do cubsouts with our oldest. And a church activity every other week. In a year another child will join in on both. We live 30 minutes from anywhere so with gas price and time we limit outside activities. Last year we did tball and baseball through the Y one night a week. Had the awesome coach we had stayed I would have done it again but he moved so I wasn't as motivated to sign them up this year. I realize as they get older they will do more. For use Scouts though our church is the big thing, I want all my boys to earn their eagle. Other than that I will watch their interests but sometimes the costs and time outweigh my ability to provide and that is okay. We did coop for 3 years and I am enjoying not running to town for it now.
  3. I love some pictures of those giants. I live in Cen Tex too and I haven't seen anything close to 6ft...
  4. Love my diva too but she may find that it is uncomfortable. Their are different cups with different sized out there. Googling will find you different products that while similar might be a different shape. It is trial and error. Good luck.
  5. I have the cheapest duplex printer I could find. It also has a fax machine and copier. I would only consider upgrading if it meant I get color. Overall I can do most things on my printer. Yes color would be nice but I just wanted an awesome printer. My is an Canon imageclass that was discontinued. But search amazon for the brand. PS I buy cheap generic cartridges and while they aren't perfect the get the job done. I don't care if there is a line down the side of my printed workbooks. YMMV
  6. Thank you! Your review and how you use it is very helpful. I think I have it narrowed down to R&S or English Language Lessons for the LDS child (it is free.)
  7. Lets see. Without a fork hands down a taco is easier to eat. If a fork is around either.
  8. Did I mention Saxon scarred me for life as a teen? I loved math till Saxon...I don't want to kill my child's love of grammar. I think part of his FLL love is that it is short lessons and not lots of writing.
  9. What grammar program after FLL4? I am sure it has been asked and answered before but if you could point me in the right direction. I find I like laid out scripted lessons or I would love something to make my 10 yo boy more independent. He love FLL4 and it is his favorite subject. Thanks for you help. PS I got a flyer for The Latin Road to English Grammar should I look at this...really wishing there was FFL5
  10. I loved taking my boys through the Temple. Wish they would have been reverent in the Celestial room but they are boys and the one time they did have cousins with them that don't understand about temples. The only error in the article was we wear the same white clothes. I love the fact white dresses come in different styles and shapes. ;)
  11. LOL! It is not everywhere, often dh's coworkers wish they could homeschool. In college we were to come up with a law and talk though how it became one. Nobody else raised their hand so I suggest a law making it legal to homeschool in every state (now I would alter it to make sure we had little oversight like in TX). The teacher didn't like my law suggestion but since I was the only one that raised my hand we went with it. I was one of 2 students that had homeschooled in his class. Out of my teachers in college he was on the I can't stand list as he would get off on tangents and not teach.
  12. They may be waiting on a reply from the person who emailed them first. Personally it may be they moved on with life and changed emails. I have had this happen when I posted stuff on another board and 6 months later log in to check something else. Meanwhile item has gone somewhere else, goodwill or a friend.
  13. Yes up close it will show. But have one of you hold the costume with sewing on stage next to one with no sewing. Then the other person goes and sits front row. It won't show...try it then enlist anybody and everybody to help you sew. I was in a big production that was a once of year thing. Over 600 in the cast and often I worked with the costume mistress to help sew ad we had a week to get costumes ready and we performed the following week. Really amazed me what we could get away with on stage versus how I would normally sew. Amazing what lots of lights and distance can hide.
  14. In the future steam a seam instead of wunder under. I would sew around things , even a crummy looking zigzag will look fine for stage presentations. Use clear thread or match the color.
  15. Yes I think some of it is just their nature on messiness. My 3 yo is very neat and his older brother is a mess. And trust me my house was cleaner when I only had older brother instead of 4 kids. We can also teach and model behavior. My grandma was raised during the depression, and taught my mom to hoard. My dad hoards too...I have to unteach myself this and I am getting better. I really do like clean minimal spaces and have to remind myself that I don't really need a scrap of paper or old baby tooth.
  16. legos outside play (I hear talk of forts often) swingset bikes scooters netflix cleaning their room (or should I say sitting in the room staring at the ceiling, twiddling thumbs) chores reading books (mostly nonfiction with lots of pictures)
  17. The mention of fires reminded me of my brother. He built a potato gun as a teen and in his early twenties started building fireworks. He also did computer programming. As a teen I read, knitted and quilted. All of us play piano and enjoyed long monopoly games with some house rules or scrabble.
  18. I don't know the law, but I think public prayer good. We are a nation under GOD can we not acknowledge his presence in public once in a while in a good way. I live in TX and the little school down the road says prayers before football games and prayers at graduation. I have no problem with it. I don't remember if they said prayer before the band concert it has been a few years.
  19. Growing up as a military brat my parents moved 4 kids and pets more than once. Not ideal but it did work out. Of course our friends are scattered everywhere and I love facebook and finding my lost friends. My parents have now lived in one place for 13 years and I have lived in the same area almost as long, though in different houses. I am have an itch to move again and I know it is because I grew up moving around, meeting new people and finding new adventures.
  20. We currently have a microfiber cover for our futon. I hate it. Our dog has decided to sleep on it while we are gone and I can't kennel him as he is scared of his kennel. I long for leather so I can easily wipe off his fur.
  21. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I am sorry you had to experience that. I had a baby that needed oxygen and then later I fainted. Still hard to think about, but I can't imagine my baby being born lifeless. Glad things turned out okay. :grouphug:
  22. LOL! I will never forget the first year we homeschooled we went to homeschool day somewhere and DH was quick to point the the kid wearing a visor and fanny pack and saying his kid can't grow up to be that kid. LOL! I better not ever take him to a homeschool convention. PS Your daughter is beautiful and funny, better watch out for those boys.
  23. I have a vitamix that is used often. Usually some or all is kept on the counter unless I am super cleaning then it all gets put away. After using I spray down the inside and if it is really messy I will add water and a drop of soap and blend on high for a minute. Comes clean. The lid and stamper usually get thrown in the dishwasher.
  24. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I think speaking up when you are in the minority takes courage so thank you for sharing. :grouphug:
