She loves arts & crafts, dolls, clothes, cooking, & baking. She also enjoys riding her bike, swimming, and dressing up in moms clothes (of course). Correspondence will be via snail mail.

I have an 8 yr old daughter and a 10 yr old son who help out with house chores a great bit. However, we have currently have no set chore schedule and chores only get done when I'm leading/instructing them on what to do. So, if I'm feeling poorly on any particular day nothing gets done. I will also have my 14 yr old niece staying with me for the entire summer, so she will need to have assigned chores as well. The only chores that I can think of that my kids have not done are: cleaning blinds because I rarely think of it, making beds daily because that's something we just don't value that much, and mopping because DH prefers to do it so he can really scrub, scrub, scrub! I'm due to have a baby next month, so I have about six weeks to implement some structure so the house does not become a total wreck postpartum. Can you please share what schedule/structure works in your home if you have similar age kids?

I've never been to either, but if you look on the web, the exhibitor list for the July convention is more extensive. I think some people favor the GHEA one because of the used book sale which the July convention doesn't offer.

This is what my my mom and MIL say. Then there are websites like http://www.diaperjungle.com/detergent-chart.html and http://pinstripesandpolkadots.com/detergentchoices.htm which make it seem like one would practically need a degree to find a suitable detergent.

I will be having my third child next month, but will be cloth diapering for the first time. I have ordered some prefolds and covers but have not prepped them. I'd like to know what detergent you use(d) to launder your cloth diapers. I'd especially like to hear if you had success with a detergent that you did not have to order online.

I had been toying with the idea, but I think I am just going to wait for the July one.

OK, I replied on another thread and am just seeing this thread. Just to add, the CLE Lightunits also schedules quizzes and tests. There is frequent review, and flashcards and speed drills are scheduled. Also if you buy the teacher manual in the lower grade levels, there are more pointers in there I believe as opposed to just answers. I hope this helps. In the other thread I just mentioned what sold me specifically on ordering CLE Math.

Well, the worktext (Lightunit) format works well with my having a baby next month and my kid's focus issues. The pages are neat and uncluttered and the explanations are sufficiently thorough. My kids will not develop the same level of conceptual thinking this year as they would have with MM, but I find it better to focus on the big picture. This is my kid's first year homeschooling and I'm having a baby. I'm just not trying to kill ourselves right out the gate. They are young and have ample time for rigor later as long as we get lay a solid foundation now.

:iagree:MM was a flop for both my kids, one mathy and one not so mathy. My son loves math but has focus issues, and the pages are terribly crowded/ cluttered for him. Also some explanations were not very thorough. MM brought my not so mathy daughter to tears, especially the mental math. I assigned fewer problems and also allowed her to skip to another chapter to encourage her but it did not help. It was a huge disappointment because I just bought the entire light blue series during the HSBC sale in March. Oh well, sunk cost... I have now ordered CLE math for them both.

Sooo...It's been nearly a month now. How is everyone liking the curriculum?

Good input! I am totally okay with her being present. I actually think it would be great for her to witness the birth. Her 10 yr old brother has zero interest in being present, and my 14 year old niece who will be with us for the entire summer may or may not want to watch. I'm okay with any of them as long as they're not goofing off, which I highly doubt they would be. Also, I'm not a yeller/screamer/curser during labor so I'm not concerned about vocalizations either.
