  1. :grouphug::grouphug: We have all been there. This too shall pass. With my little guy it helped to have activity bags (there was a swap last year) and that gave him something he only did during school. TV is a useful tool sometimes. :D Older siblings are a great help. I would give him some attention first and then move on to big siblings. So read a book first or play with him. Contain him in one area of the house, put a baby gate on the school room to keep him in with you. Then put things for him to play with/read in his reach and move everything else that you can out of his reach. :grouphug::grouphug: PS Is he verbal or delayed? I know for me signing saved screaming with one kid. It gave him a way to communicate till he talked. We also try to take screaming kids out side to scream on the grass. Change of scenery quiets them. ;)
  2. We did with our first. Our others haven't had them. But we do try to go to the doctor once every other year or so. I do check to make sure they reach milestones and such.
  3. :grouphug::grouphug: So sorry you have to do this. Ya'll are in my prayers.
  4. On my oldest I had one asymptomatic ear infection that I was told to watch, he didn't even get a script. I don't do regular well visits now. I do go in when I see a concern or there is an illness/injury. Dh & I both have never had anything found at appts.
  5. Enjoy building. We love our house mostly. Things I would have done different, bigger kitchen, smaller bedrooms, bigger closets for food storage and bigger kids bath. ;) Love my wood stove, my bedroom & bath. Wish my laundry room was bigger.
  6. My MIL is in the early stages. She is on a patch to slow the process. She worries over it and I think is somewhat embarrassed. Her children I think are in denial as she still lives independently (in a mother in law apt at BIL's house) and drives and cooks. At some point I realize this will change but nobody acknowledges or talks or is planning for it. I am just the DIL. :glare: We do have a great relationship but I am the lone voice suggesting change so at the point I have given up mentioning making changes to living arrangements ect. Yes I possibly would want to know but then I would want social workers to help the family make plans and implement them. I think a support group would also be helpful. But currently giving the Dx to somebody at the beginning has only accomplished my MIL being on anxiety meds and afraid to live her life jic things get worse. And that I think is a tragedy. She probably could have gone off on a mission for 18 months and been fine but she was afraid her disease would progress rapidly. It hasn't but she was overly cautious.
  7. OT-Loved your canning picture on your blog! LOL! I just finished canning tomatoes and pickles, blueberries are on the schedule for tomorrow. ;)
  8. Find somebody to teach you. It is lots of fun that way. I would gladly help if you lived close to me. I am sure in happy valley you will find sisters that sew and could give you some pointers.
  9. I would try craigslist. Adoption stuff for pets drives me batty too. We had a cat we adopted from a friend what was a barn cat. Try as we like we wanted her to be indoors. She wanted nothing to do with it. She would come home but she needed to roam and I think she kept our scorpian population in check. She got an abcess and my kids let her out while I was treating her leg and trying to get her to recuperate. But I agree some cats prefer outside.
  10. We like our chihuahua and in the past we found a chiweenie at the pound who was very sweet. Really think this through. Do you want to clean up pee. Find dirt in your bed from a borrowing dog. Pee on the floor because it is wet or cold outside. Trash on the floor because it smelled yummy. Fur on your couch because even though it is off limits when you are home all bets are off when you are away on a trip. I used to prefer cats. Then we had some sweet dogs. Really though I miss the dog free days without fur all over my house. Did I mention dh brought home a dog that sheds like all get out...
  11. Ll Bean carry all got it off ebay for less but I love it. Place for water bottle for me or toys. Place for keys so I no longer dig through bag. Zippered pouch on top for phone. Plenty of room for wallet and diapers (I use cloth.) When I used sposies I can pack a ton in there but even with cloth I am good most days.
  12.:confused: We include our babies with us from birth at meal time unless they are napping. If they are fussy we hold them. If we are out at a restaurant and they are fussy I take them outside till they calm down. I eat when I can. When we are my parents often my parents hold the babies.
  13. I wish....but not anytime soon, nursing baby and all boys. I miss girls camp, cub camp is fun but it isn't girls camp.
  14. :grouphug::grouphug: I heard about the hail storm. So sorry. I am glad everybody is okay.
  15. Yes! We love going! Next Friday we are going to the Drive-in thanks for reminding me to look up times.
  16. For me it was easy. However several factors played into that. My next oldest was 3 1/2 and very much not a baby usually my guys are 2 1/2 or so when they give up being the baby of the family. So it helped that he was very independent and just loves being the big brother, lots of kisses and loves for his baby. Coupled with the fact my baby is really laid back easy going and happy all the time, it has been a very easy transition. I did prepare ahead of time with lots of paper plates, bowls cups ect to make recovery easier. And I really stayed in bed for almost 2 weeks loving on the little guy, while my kids watched way to much nextflix. But then I was feeling much better. This was also the first time I wasn't anemic because I finally found a Perfect Prenatal vitamins that my body absorbed. Good luck and congrats on the new addition!
  17. If you want an ereader to read your amazon stuff a Kindle is great. We have the basic $79 model and it has an experimental browser so I can check my email with wifi in a pinch. It has a few games "active" content. Mostly wordy games and simple fun ones. For Color or apps go with a Fire or a Color Nook or Nook tablet.
  18. Okay for those of us who love reading eggs but not the price there is now an app that is free that teaches the first 100 sight words. Called Eggy 100 if you want the pay version it is Eggy 250 and is $2.99 for ipad or android.
  19. My parents are converts. They joined right before I was born. Like every family with have our struggles. Our extended family doesn't understand and it can be hard. We were military and I loved moving and having instant "family" at church. Even years later we were able to have their support despite having moved away 12 years earlier. We had meals, lodging, cars, and flights provided for our family and my parents. It was amazing and made my testimony stronger. I married a Mormon from way back...his ancestors lived in Nauvoo and sang to the prophet Joseph Smith one Christmas. My kids have many cousins unlike my 2. ;) I love it.
  20. Yep! Dh graduated from UC Berkeley and got his masters at BYU. He made himself a wallet with both logos. Kinda yin & yang. Go Cougars & Bears. We had fun at BYU attending the BYU vs Berkeley football game.
