  1. I have poster paints. They are runnier than my tempera.
  2. I'm learning the hard way to not talk curriculum with people other than hs friends. As excited as I may be it just causes unwanted criticism.
  3. If you're using mfw k and 1st they ars all inclusive but once you get to secomd grade you choose your own la and math. I'm not brave enough to make my own yet but that may just work for your family!
  4. My father's world has very little in the way of worksheets. All inclusive for k and 1st. My ds is a mover and I plan to use it with him.

  7. My 8yo gives me a hassle. Our 1st year was rough! This year has been much better. Like previous people said it taken a few years to get used to.we did a work/text book approach the past two years. I found mfw this spring. It's so different from what we've done so far but I'm so excited for the change! No curriculum is perfect. One thing I found very helpful with my stubborn/defiance is setting a strict schedule for our school day.. set a time limit for each lesson and unfinished work is 'homework '. It cut out a lot of the complaints and and stubbornness.
  8. Bju math fan here. Fun colorful etc. My dd enjoyed it this year.

  12. My dd isn't into chapter books. Trying to get her there with incentives "finding what interests her etc. For the school year coming up I have picked books for assigned reading. I tried to find what she would likd and they ge more challenging as the year goes on.we will do a chapter a day. Another thought. Have you used readers for school or books?) N k my dd had books and loved reading. The past 2 years we've used readers and I've noticed a big change in her attitude towards reading.
  13. I've heard great things about sotw. You could do that. Not familiar with the science you mentioned so can't help there. We are doing mfw for next year. They have us history, world geography and then thr 4 year cycle wtm talks about. Good luck finding what you are searching for!
  14. My dd struggles with math. Saxon stressed her out. We switched to bju math this year. It hasmade a huge difference in her attitude towards math. It uses lots of manipulative materials to teach concepts and is mastery with plenty of review built in

  18. Mfw has another vote for me too. You can combine 2nd through 8th for Bible, history, music, art and science (7th-8th have own science) . Very open and go with each week is laid out for you.
  19. Just as the title says how can I get my children used to read aloud? Don't getme wrong,we read plenty, just not longer chapter books. We are trying to do it more but getting and keeping attention is difficult. My oldest has a habit pf just zoning out or something and therefore can't tell answers to questions I ask.anyway any ideas or even book suggestions to help get us all used to this?
