  2. Look T primary language lessons instead of fll. It's very gentle and has grammar, observation, dictation, memorization and writing. My third grader struggles with memory and writing skills. Since we started this book I have seen positive changes and growth in her skills. We started at the half way pont in the book which is considered the third grade lessons but you could go back to the beginning if needed.
  3. Finally got an update fine. Link in signature
  4. My third grader needed some help too. We got hooked on phonics second grade and it's self paced. it has really helped a lot
  5. Check out spelling power. It is one big book for all levels. You do a placement test to figure out where to start. My third grader didn't do well with regular spelling programs. We started with level a. Basically they study the words they miss each day. You retreat the missed words the next day. If they are right they don't study it again. The words are split into groups that use one rule. There are ten st yr tips to studying a word. It really has made a big difference for us.
  6. I thought we had it figured out last year. Then when dh list his job I went looking got cheaper options. I realized the workbook method we were using was not my idea if a fun learning environment, read the wtm and thins about cm. we switch to mfw and couldn't be kapper. I think I would go crazy if I switched every year!
  7. We do some copy work and notebooking to practice. I also got a dollar deal from scholastic to practice cursive which I need to do bc she's having a hard time remembering from last year!
  8. We are using PLL and it's great. I love how simple and quick it is. Some days take longer of course like yesterday copying sentences etc. I've never used FLL but FLL seems like there's a lot more to it to me.
  9. Love the cat pic! LOL Didn't have school this week so I don't have a new post up.
  10. Here's ours! We started july 2nd. I've got a first day of school post from last week and then the newest covers the first two weeks. http://www.myblessingshomeschool.blogspot.com
  11. we started last week and LOVING our new curriculum! Going really well so far. We will school this week then take next off for her to go to an art camp.
  12. Spelling power stats at their level and move on from there. 15 minutes a day got each with only give of that being with you.
  13. My oldest (8yo with speech delays) got really stuck on blends about half way through level one. We found game ideas and just used those for about two weeks before she finally started getting it and we could move on. I will say that aas helped a lot with her confidence in spelling. She had very little spelling skill before. In just a few months she made a big leal. Still issues of course but at least she can spell some now!
  14. My dd took a long time to make the jump from knowing letter sounds to being able to figure out the words. I would put the lessons away and just have lots of early readers around for him to look at etc. Then on a few months pull the lessons out again.
  15. We did some if it but not all. Bayne like four or so.
  16. Bju for sure.there are chapters with topics but daily review top. We used second grade last yet.it made a big difference for her. I gave the second grade tm still in case your e interested.
  17. I got ours used this year. That was a big help. I love that it's got everything there plus you can combine grades.we started this week with it and loving it so far!
  18. same here! Only I decided to go to a year round schedule so we states this week. Loving mfw adventures so far! Do much nicer than one worksheet after the next.
  19. I suggest my fathers world either creation to heels or time to reformation.. All laid out for you. Seventh reader does"advanced activities"and hhs own science program. It includes bugle history science, art. You do most reading. Dd your own la and math for each. Mfw suggest intermediate language lessons, writing strands for fourth grade and singapore nath.seventh grade I can't remember at the moment but the weekly grid had room to write in la and nath.
  20. I didn't get the email either. I didn't know there was an online option! Will have to check into that.
  21. We will start in 3rd next year and continue in 4th.
  22. Yoyr dd sounds like mine. I recently read "reading magic " by mem fox. It gave me a lot of insight. I'm trying to read aloud a lot more. When she reads aloud I watch for words that may trip her up and help her with them. She gets very easily discouraged and frustrated. Tgis is helping her attitude toward reading. Another thing has been library trips. She loves animal books. We found a row of leved ones and she has been reading a lit of those. She's not reading a lot in her free time but hoping we get there! Last year we found junior b jones Read a bunch of those! Keep at it, find her interest etc. We can get them reading more!
