Anyone with germaphobia OCD or a spouse of one?
alisoncooks replied to SquirrellyMama's topic in The Chat Board
I'm also wondering how your DH functions at work. If he's able to work through exposure there, you could perhaps point that out. Your child should (at the very least) be afforded the same tolerance that he gives his coworkers. -
Does this sound crazy controlling? (Gentle, please)

Thank you. He was a sweet boy who passed almost exactly 2 years ago. -

In families with lots of kids, someone always has a cold! I would not quarantine the kid. I would encourage DH to wear a mask if he was afraid of contamination. -
Book recommendation - I need a fun, happy, positive read

This is one of my absolute favorite books! ? -

I liked Cinder a lot...but I'd only recommend it if you're willing to read the whole series. There's like 4? 5? altogether. Plus some novellas. And a stand-alone, back-story novel. ? -
Can we discuss Renaissance Festivals for a minute?

Very cool! I'm sure a knight would fit in with any of those! -

Well, now I want to know what the theme is! OP - can you share? -
(FWIW, Classical Stretch is not my cup of tea -- for some reason it bothers my neck/upper back. But a similar option is Ellen Barrett. Her workouts can often be found on YouTube or fairly inexpensively on Amazon.)

I cancelled online. Maybe it's changed.

I thought Crazy Rich Asians was a fun read. It did have some serious parts, but overall just...fun. -
I agree - stream for a month or two and find what you like. The price is reasonable, before investing in one of the seasons. But the stand-alone Essentrics DVDs are good, if you prefer Sahra (sp?) over Miranda.

This is what I wear also. For times when I want more of a lipstick, I use/like Loréal Colour Riche Balm (in Tender Mauve).

Most salons will cut for free and donate through certain programs they designate. I went with Children With Hair Loss.

DD struggling with Mr. D Math (pre-a)
alisoncooks replied to alisoncooks's topic in Logic Stage & Middle Grade Challenges
We actually did switch to TT last week, and she told me today that it's her favorite math of all the maths we've tried. (And that says something because we've tried a lot...)? Since she had some knowledge gaps, we're using TT7 but hoping to get through it AND TT Pre-A by next fall (even doing 1 lesson a day, it looks possible, if we're consistent.) -
Totally unimportant.....are top sheets getting smaller?

Perhaps they've stayed the same, but mattresses have gotten thicker? (Pillow tops and such.) -
Someone mentioned Tom Sawyer Island... My girls LOVED that place. Seriously - they could've wondered around for an hour or more. And there is a riverboat cruise around it that's nice (if you can get a spot to sit in the shade).

I agree that there is a ton to look at. One of my regrets from our trip last year is that I didn't get a good chance to just slow down and look around at the scenery or in shops. We were either waiting in a line, rushing to get to a line, or on a ride.

MIL gifted us an electronic keyboard that had been in her super-smoky house for a while. IDK if this is bad for electronics, but we let it sit outside for a bit. We cleaned it best we could and then put it in the sun. (We had no money invested in it, so we weren't worried about destroying it. I think it helped-- and it still plays. But YMMV.)

My MIL is fine...but my SIL... *sigh* Yes, I fantasize about what would happen if I didn't hold my tongue.

Yeah, when I make this, I splurge on the leanest beef I can afford. (I've never made "normal" meatloaf. Maybe I'll try it on a rack, shaped into meatballs, with the less expensive ground beef...)
-
Here's what I make: https://addapinch.com/weeknight-meatloaf/ I leave out the onion (just use a little powder instead) and serve with a ketchup/brown sugar sauce.

We cook our meatloaf in individual portions, in a muffin tin. :p

Oh golly. Bummer. Here's to hoping for quick treatment and pain relief. The older I get, the more aware I am of how easily humans are injured. ? Two/three years ago, I took my kids to a free trial family karate class...and tore my ACL. (Which required surgery and 6 months PT. *eyeroll*)
