  1. Ah, I saw the word "intervene" and was immediately like "Heck no! Don't do it!" But if you've only heard through the grapevine and wanna confirm...hmmm. I mean, my family is close but I'm not local so I get family info (gossip) from my parents. I have 1-2 cousins that I would say, "Hey, I heard xxxx..?" and they wouldn't be offended. (And I still don't have any right to know, I'm just nosy.) But for everyone else, it's still a nope, MYOB.
  2. Following. We're driving 3.5 hrs Thanksgiving morning. I am taking two desserts this year (made the day before). In years past, I've taken the gravy (because my inlaws don't understand the necessity of gravy with turkey). Rolls travel well, as does dressing. Cranberry sauce. Any number of casseroles could be preassembled and cooked upon arrival, I'd think. Maybe sweet potatoes.
  3. Well, of course it's none if your business. It's also none of the sibling/in laws business. That said, I suppose it boils down to your family culture and how y'all do things. I'd probably just say something along the lines of "I'm here for you if you want to talk."
  4. Well, legit or scam....we recently took out a loan that's like a second mortgage. Anyway, since then we've been inundated with credit card offers, refinance offers, debt consolidation offers. It's been off the hook crazy. Calls and emails and mail. We did our business through the SECU but I guess we got added to some public list.
  5. DH does this. He bought some sort of Bluetooth thingy that came with some headphones. He did it because he watched The Walking Dead after the kids are in bed but they could still here it and it was scary (small house).
  6. We'll be at MiL's house, and she's not sure if she's doing a traditional spread or not. She's tossed out the idea of ordering pizza. (Whatever...the food there is always gross anyway.) Regardless, I'm taking a pumpkin-cream cheese roll and a cranberry-apple crumble. I need something to perk me up while I'm there.
  7. Yeah, selling on local pages always brings out the sob stories. Sheesh, if I could afford to practically give my stuff away, I wouldn't be going through the hassle of trying to sell it online. Seriously. (And I'm not heartless, but I believe most of those stories are scammers or low-ballers and I don't have patience for that.)
  8. I don't see how keeping people out is the worker's responsibility. I can see that if the house is open, and these workers are in a specific area...did the friends let themselves in or ask to be let in? I imagine, if presented as "Hi, I'm Scarlett's friend. We just want a peek at the new house," the workers probably felt they didn't have a choice. They're probably currently complaining on a contractor's forum about clients whose friends try to tour the house while they're trying to work.
  9. I think Scarlett is saying her own friends stopped by.
  10. I really like all 3 of these. Thanks! I have a pair of Sanuk boots that are similar in style to uggs but they make my feet fatigued. (Flat sole, my heel slips). I'm assuming uggs would feel the same.... https://www.amazon.com/Sanuk-Womens-Toasty-Tails-Short/dp/B01BDHZCEC
  11. Pikmin is super cute. There is fighting but it's along the lines of repeated hits and throwing things (no weapons, iirc). Sample of the boss battles: My girls loved Breath of the Wild. Zelda: Windwaker is puzzle-based and more cartoon-like. My kids liked Walk it Out, lol. No real strategy, just walk and build the world. They also enjoy Minecraft but always play peaceful and creative modes (because they just like to build things).
  12. I have bought and returned a dozen pairs of boots in the last 2 months. I currently have a pair of Chaco's Barbary on the way (fingers crossed they work) https://www.chacos.com/US/en/barbary/22325W.html?dwvar_22325W_color=JCH199800#cgid=boots-men-women&start=1 but I was really hoping for something waterproof. I've also tried endless variations of the duck boot but most can't tighten enough at the ankle to keep my heel from slipping. I did recently get these (super cheap on Amazon!) so maybe I don't need waterproof: https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/jbu-by-jambu-gwen-rain-shoe/456184 The older I get, the colder I get. Also, the older I get, the more finicky my feet become. Is there such a thing as a really comfy, casual, warm boot? (And it doesn't really get cold here...teens are the absolute bitterest cold we get in winter. Maybe average temp in the upper 30s for winter?) But I'm talking I want Crocs level comfort...so maybe a hiking boot? Or sneaker boot? I love the look of chukkas, too. Suggestions??
  13. I'd say "me" because "you're talking to me." Also this: https://giphy.com/gifs/robert-deniro-sURCRshAEZzO😉
  14. Did you accidentally sign up for auto ship after a previous order? I just received a power rotary tool that had my name/shipping address. No packing slip, not in my orders. However, it appears the label with my name was stuck over a different label/person. So...do you have a doubled up label?
  15. My oldest had her ears pierced Sept. 8th and they're still healing (can be sore at times, but no redness or sign of infection). We had hers done at a professional body piercing studio, and she has surgical grade labret studs in. We were told not to take them out or switch them until January, which surprised me! We also still clean her ears at night with spray saline (from the studio) and q-tips, just gently cleaning around the piercing (the brochure said 1 month, but DD says they feel better when we do nightly). Maybe your piercings are still healing and need left alone?
  16. I'm loving this thread. I'm always looking for beef recipes that aren't spaghetti/burger/taco variations.
  17. We love this Korean Beef recipe with rice. Just add steamed broccoli/veg. https://www.melskitchencafe.com/korean-beef/ These Beef Kofta Meatballs: https://www.budgetbytes.com/beef-kofta-meatballs-with-roasted-vegetables/ Beef Baked Beans (great with cornbread!): https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/trisha-yearwood/baked-bean-casserole-recipe-2078312
  18. Geez, I've dropped a small fortune on Amazon this month. But (!) I'm not a bargain shopper. I know what I need to get, and if the price is fairly competitive, I go ahead and hit purchase. I value being DONE with my Christmas shopping (which I am) over finding the best deals. (That said, I also shop eBay for hard-to-find things, books, or 2ndhand video game cartridges...)
  19. Yikes. I just booked our first airbnb for around Christmas. We usually stay in a hotel (the only one there) but it's gotten grungy and the area is sketchy. (This is not a pleasure vacay but a stay to visit my MIL, and the area is awful.) I'm desperately hoping that the airbnb will be an improvement.
  20. Well, I was going to say that I bought myself a 60-count box of Airheads for Christmas. 😛
  21. Chiming in to say, I do like the black pair I bought. They're more trouser material than jean but that's cool cause I bought them for dressier stuff. That said, I'm hippy (with plenty of junk in the trunk) and I do have to shimmy a bit to get them up over my hips. Once up, they feel fine! Also, because of the shimmy issue, I bought the version of these jeans that are zip-up/button closure. (Everything else seemed to be the same.) They are sized MUCH smaller. Like unwearably right. So FYI...
  22. I loved HA when my girls were young. (Of course, all ours were thrift store or eBay finds, but the quality held up!) Lands End has some cute stuff. My girls liked the LE dress ("fit and flare," I think) with leggings.
  23. We tend to go for quick, dice games. Tenzi can be played with larger groups if you have the dice. Our set came with dice for 7 people.
  24. I love graphic tees. (I usually pair with jeans, though -- no leggings.) I just bought this top for DD for Christmas so I can't give real feedback yet, but I thought it was cute. (Didn't buy for me because it looks to have cuff at the waist and I'm hippy): https://www.amazon.com/TECREW-Womens-Rainbow-Sweatshirt-Pockets/dp/B07G33ZJTX/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref_=ya_aw_od_pi
  25. This sounds like the gravy my grandma made. Her gravy actually tasted fine, though. Plus her chunks of egg and stuff were chopped small. But your description immediately made me picture her gravy.
