  1. We went to FL for a week last week. It was nice. It was full, but not crowded and I noticed all the houses that are right on the beach were not rented out. The beach was full enough for a single row of groups but that was it. I guess groups were about 10-15 ft apart. GA and AL had many more mask wearing people and the restaurants were stricter than in FL Then again I was almost entirely outside the majority of time. My Senior will finally have a graduation towards the end of the month. Not sure what that will look like, but just happy he gets to do it!
  2. I have midrange color on my second floor. Love it! So easty to clean, so pretty! Three kids live up there and it still looks great. They clean it with a swiffer mop, which we don't do with the downstairs hardwoods which are also espresso color and show every teeny crumb.
  3. I know a lot of people who attend Artios. If you like theater, music, visual arts etc. then you will like this. You can PM me if you have questions.
  4. Years ago I had a lot of these dreams. I was later diagnosed with hypothyroid and this all went away. I did read you can talk to yourself during those type of dreams and I tried it and it helped a bit, but it was still scary. Until one day my asthma flared and I was prescribed montelusk. Wow, thankfully I had a friend who is a pharmacists and she figured it out right away. I quit taking that immediatly. I made my husband get up and look for the mouse that was on my bedside table! LOL
  5. We have always done a light version of summer school. Not more than 1.5 hours and maybe 4 days a week. We keep up or reinforce math, learn typing, cursive, maybe some grammar, spelling depending on the student and read. Right now I just have the younges rising 3rd grader. We are finishing math, reinforcing spelling, 5 min cursive and reading.
  6. I have a tree form hydrangea and even that is not 10ft tall. I have 2 bush hydrangeas and right now they are not even 2 ft tall. My neighbor has big hydangea bushes that are beside my house and they may be 6 ft tall. So, hopefully yours won't be 10ft tall.
  7. We had 2 outdoor cats and one disappeared last year. We had the opportunity to take a kitty about 3 weeks ago and so we did. She is going to be an outdoor cat too, but she was so young (3 weeks) when we got her that she is still indoors. She will have to be supervised for awhile outdoors, but the other cat seems to really like her and our dog does too. I figured with everyone home it would much easier to raise a kitty with so many people willing to help and so far it's been good.
  8. I chose vacuuming, because I simply have to do it more often with the dog coming in and out of the house and at least 4 people (right now 5) coming in and out of the house. Then there are crumbs and I have a very dark wood floor and see every speck. I dust 1x a week. I mop 1x a week.
  9. I"m in the same boat. It's really bad. It reminds of a time where I had severe food poisoning and I thought I was giong to die but I was so sick I didn't care. That is how I feel right now One of my friend is just loving it. She loves to clean and organize and is using all this time as an opportunity to organize every inch of her house. I like my house clean, but it is not like it's my go to for fun. I do it because i like the results and that is the only reason I do it. My kids are doing much better than me.
  10. This is my view when I'm working with my 2nd grader.
  11. My students absolutely despise online learning, so we will have to rethink gap years if they are cancelling in person classes. My kids don't perform as well in online classes and we can not risk them losing the state scholarship. I do not know what they would do though. There's really going to be nowhere to go. Fortunately, their college is going ahead with on campus orientation in July and we hope they will have the college up and running.
  12. DS is taking Chem (1211). It's the one for getting into engineering. He's a DE student in his senior year. His instructor is very organized and her syllabus is up to date. This class is challening, even with the clear set dates and info. I think the class average is a D. Thankfully ds is above the curve, but he is having to over study. He writes notes for every section in the textbook and he writes lots of notes for everything in the class. He is barely getting a B. The expectations since going online have not been lessened, but simply moved to online. edited..correct course number
  13. We have a lot of brave birds come to eat our cats food on the back porch railing. We have bluebirds, bluejays, cardinals, mockingbirds, brown thrashers regularly. I do not know the names of the other birds. Our cat has gotten lazy, but occasionaly he gets one.
  14. Yeah, there are some situations that are unfortunate and give us pause. DH is immuno man, but he's in charge of his own health so I don't say anything, but one of the neighbors whose same age kids come over has a mom who works in urgent care and another sib in daycare. No worries about the kids, but since we are sacrificing a great deal right now I sure as heck don't want us to get the virus in my backyard. Right now with school out she has been coming over everyday dang day for like hours. Then dd has a college suitemate with a parent who is and ER doc. Trying to minimize the neighbor and college is off for now so that is cleared up.
  15. This is a classic knee jerk reaction with a sweeping statement used as an excuse to lecture, shame and blame.
  16. I am more worried about money than health, because no money leads to very bad health for us. We probably won't die so hopefully we won't go broke either. I became slightly concerned this morning that we would be eating rice for days if people don't stop hoarding bread. I'm not sure what on earth folks are thinking. We refuse to get involved in the mob scene out there. The local news reported that there was a 2 hour wait to get IN to our local costco yesterday and the line to check out stretched to the back of the store. That is completly irrational behaviour. China is not going to bomb us they just sent us a virus. We won't all get sick at the exact same minute.
  17. I do wish more people would stay home when they are sick. We are always careful about sickness. When my kids were little I worked in a moms morning out and people would bring in sick kids all the time. One lady had a stomach flu and she was so sick she had a barf bowl in her car so she could still drop off the kids. The director sent her and the kids straight home. I just could not believe it. Oh I'm really on edge about money and it could turn to anger I guess. I'm feeling more very serious about that particular isse than angry at the moment,. Having lost in the 08/09 depression I am very cognizant of what goes on when you don't have money or a job. There will be no returning to that. Well, I started ordering groceries a while ago after reading on the WTM. I tried to order last night and there are no pick up times till Sunday! I guess at least the economy is being stimulated in that regard.
  18. I see it as contributing to the irish economy which is heavily tourism dependent and not giving in to misfounded fear. Our flight is still scheduled and they are not giving refunds. Our hotels and B&B are also not issuing deposti refunds so my feeling is they very much want us there. We personally suffered financial devastation in 08/09, but the whole of Ireland was devastated during that time, so they understand what happens when the economy tumbles and so so do we. They have closed the Library at Trinity (and they said they will issue a refund, but so far it hasn't materialized), but everything else we are doing is hiking and outdoor activities, so we will have to do the library on a futur trip as they are reopening it the day we depart. I have always been fascinated with the Book of Kells and so I'm super bummed. The economy will more than likely kill us if people stay fearful and don't work. We need insurance from the job to pay for the $3K meds. I'm 100% for sick people staying home and if the immunocompromised want to stay home they certainly shouldn't feel bad about that and they shouldn't be penalized. Right now we are going to have to pay for DD Dorm and her Meal ticket while they close her University and she is not allowed to stay there. So we will be paying for her food and board 2X, because we will be providing that at home. I plan to ask for a refund, but I'm pretty sure they aren't gonig to give it back. This is the kind of thing that adds up and makes it hard on famlies. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but actually it does rob us. I feel like we all need to keep level heads and make sure we are not being taken advantage of financially during a time of fear.
  19. We are still no more scared of coronavirus than we were. Dh had a Remicade infusion this morning and we are just as careful now as we have been for months. Still hoping our flight to ireland leaves next Friday. If I lose money I will lose my f'ing sh?t. I'm so mad at the pandering governmetn I could spit. Clearly now he's bombing Iraq in desperation. ByeDon! Most people have nothing to fear with this virus and are impacting freedom and liberty and really it could last years until a revolution. We live with compromised health daily. We lost everything 10 years ago and now we plan to live in celebration. I'm willing to go to jail for civil disobediance over this.
  20. I color and always assumed I would. I have dark almost black hair. I color and highlight and I plan to do it till I die! LOL I may go lighter and white/silver, but never natural. I don't always wear makeup or blow dry my hair for the ho hum day to day homeschooling, but I will if I'm heading out. I may do some type of injections or facials, but I will never do the lip plumping thing. I find that super distracting.
  21. Well I have some worries about what all is going on, but mostly it is the reaction of people and govt that is causing me the biggest worry. I know where I live that they can only go so far with the quarantines because I'm pretty sure there will be a revolt and almost every citizen is armed. No, I just can't see it working. For us the biggest thing is to keep our economy going forward. We did suffer greatly in the 08/09 crash and we will do whatever it takes to make suer that never happens again. We ordered chinese food on the weekend on purpose just to help out that particular sector of the economy. We do have ons person in the house on immunosuppressant so we have already been taking extra precaustions for months. It is no different now. I think too when you have a chronic illness in the family and have been in and out of hospitals over and over again and you know very personally that you can't control everything or even much of anything that you let go of some pie in the sky thinking about how life should be and just live the best you can. If you sit around and worry about death and dying (and for goodness sakes toilet paper) you will not have LIFE anyway. So we take precautions, but we do not worry and we don't let it control our decsions on travel or work or going out of the house. However, I am worried about what I consider all the paranoid people out there and how the fear is a bigger viral threat than the actual coronavirus. The threat of breakdown to the economy, the education systems and civil liberties is a serious concern.
