  1. Oops, sorry, I was replying to thowell & didn't use the quote feature.
  2. I'm doing SOTW 3 with my 3rd grader this year & most of the additional books have an independent reading level of 4th grade or above so I think a 5th grader would be fine. My 5th grader does Ambleside & has NO interest in doing anything else or I'd have her doing SOTW with ds.
  3. These are the ones I have bookmarked so some are a couple of years old: Five Paragraph Essay Okay, but how are all you WTM'ers teaching your dc HOW to write? To all you people with 8th graders (or there abouts)... Logic-For those using Critical Thinking Books 1 and 2-How's it going?? If you knew then what you know now May I see your entire 5th - 8th sequence? Teaching academic and organizational skills to your logic stage student Help introducing outlining skills What to do for 7th grade? My 5th grader needs more work... Learning to Outline, advise needed If you had it to do over again, what would you have emphasized in the Logic stage Still mulling over teaching outlining in logic stage (SWB, are you able to help?)
  4. I just made these tonight & they are fabulous!! I put the dough in the fridge overnight & probably really should have let it chill another day, but my family was pleading for cookies so I caved. We've only had them straight out of the oven so I guess they could get icky after sitting around for awhile, but they're wonderful warm! My only changes were to add some very coarse salt to the tops of the dough balls before baking & to use Ghiradelli chips instead of chopped chocolate.
  5. I've never watched b/c we don't have cable, but my mom used to watch & said the same thing. She quit b/c it made her so uncomfortable to see inside people's souls on national television.
  6. Bissinger's & Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate are wonderful, but too pricey to have frequently. My go tos are Lindt Dark w/Sea Salt & Green & Black's Mayan Gold.
  7. Usually when I can't get one out it's because it's too dry. Have him put a couple of drops in his eye. Sometimes it also helps to close my eye & use my thumb & forefinger to sort of pinch the contact through the lid. It helps to break the suction.
  8. I need to get back to exercising again also. I was doing really well, then missed a couple of weeks & got comepletely derailed. Anyway, what worked for me was to exercise in the evening. I thought I'd end up being unable to sleep, but actually I was able to go to sleep more quickly. I originally planned to get up early, but I'm a night person so it was really hard. Plus, in the morning, I didn't have nearly as much endurance as I did in the evening since I hadn't fueled at all.
  9. Black forest, Cappuccino Truffle Torte, and Peppermint Patty. Valencia would be in the running too though. For a whole cake I'd pay $30 easily, $40 if I really wanted it for something special. In a restaurant setting I'd cheerfully pay $5 or more for a slice though.
  10. Go to User Control Options, then Edit Ignore List under Settings & Options on the left. You can then just enter the person's username in the blank box.
  11. Here are reviews of Get Out of That Pit & The Patriarchs that explain why some are not fond of her studies. I've never used any due to comments people I know irl have made after doing her studies.
  12. :iagree: I put mine off for over a year b/c I'd heard such horror stories about the whole thing. I went recently & it was no big deal. I have a very, very, very low pain threshold--in other words I'm a big baby--& I didn't think it was painful at all. It was uncomfortable, but that was mainly due to the odd positioning. It was WAY less annoying than a pap.
  13. I believe that First Form is LC I & LC II combined. You could check w/MP to make sure though.
  14. Not much. I consider it to have been a near total waste of time.
  15. :iagree: Every time I read something he's written I think of John Holtzmann

  17. We just peel, chop, bag, & freeze. They always stay orange (no browning) & we never put anything on them before freezing.
  18. :iagree: My kids love them & they seem to do the job. I've never been sure how you know if supplements are *really* "good" though. Could be that my kids just happen to have strong immune systems.
