  1. Both my son's acceptances came from college with rolling admissions.
  2. College acceptance number 2. Embry-Riddle in Prescott, AZ. I actually logged on to see if my son's recommendations made it to the school. His status was listed as: admitted. It was a strange way to find out, though they actually called and told him today. I guess they'll send a letter soon.
  3. My son has finished three applications and has two acceptances. Got to love those rolling admissions! He has three more applications to finish...
  4. We are going through this process with our oldest child, so I was excited for him to receive his first college acceptance in the mail today: Letourneau University. My son didn't seem that excited, probably because I keep telling him that this is a long process.
  5. If you saw my two boys with their phones, you would think they have smartphones. They actually have inexpensive prepaid AT&T Gophone plans with hand-me-down smartphones. They switched the sim cards and turned the data off. They can only use data on Wifi.
  6. Wonderful! You're motivating me to get my son to finish a couple of college applications this week.
  7. We have XBox an Wii, but my teenage boys almost exclusive play online computer games now.
  8. How much is added to the monthly bill for taxes, etc.?
  9. I attended the Basic and Advanced Seminar in the 90's. Obviously, I wasn't paying attention very well, or I just dismissed the stuff I didn't agree with right away. We moved on and I gave the books to Goodwill years ago. I'm SO sorry for those who suffered under his teaching.
  10. You're motivating me. My son has two apps in progress. We need to get those sent in!
  11. My boys are in German II also this year. I'm not sure how much they are learning, but it has been a fairly painless way for them to learn German.
  12. I haven't actually done the work yet, so I won't do it until it is needed.
  13. This is our first time navigating the college application process. My son has narrowed down his list of schools. None of these schools use the common application. When I look at the list of requirements, I don't see any of them listing a need for course descriptions, counselor letters, or anything like that. Should we just send in the required information? Is this one of those, "Contact the schools and find out if they want anything extra" situations? The only information required: application (some including essay) SAT or ACT recommendation letters application fee resume (one school) transcript Thanks for your help. I'm a little concerned that this process seems too easy after all the questions I'm seeing.
  14. Net Nanny seemed to block all sorts of things that my kids needed to use. I feel like I was always typing in exceptions. It may be just because I never learned to use it correctly.
  15. I started using this with my 7th grader. Can anyone tell me where I find the directorial comments? In the Teacher Manual it says, "For futher insight, be sure to watch the directorial comments before viewing the film with your students." I can't seem to find them. Thanks!
  16. I've been meaning to use this with my 17yo. It is a series of videos with handouts, and it's free! www.lbcc.edu/LAR/studyskills.cfm
  17. We've tried K-9 and NetNanny. I'm ready to try again, but I'm not hopeful. I'm beginning to think that it's me. Maybe I actually need to read the instructions and figure out to implement them fully.
  18. The Potter's School used AG in its English 3 course last year. My son was in 9th grade. It was a good fit. They did the entire program in one year.
