  1. My brother has CF. He had a double-lung transplant 15 years ago. He is now on the list for a kidney/pancreas transplant. He has always worked full-time and got married this year for the first time. He just turned 45 years old.
  2. My son is in CAP. It has been a great experience for him. He has soloed in a glider and gone to a powered flight academy. Expenses aren't any worse than Boy Scouts. Here's a helpful link to a chart that shows the promotion requirements: http://www.capmembers.com/cadet_programs/stripes_to_diamonds/
  3. My son has applied to six colleges. None of them use the common app. He's been accepted to five of them, and we're still waiting on the final one. Am I supposed to send in some sort of mid-year grade report, or do I wait to be asked?
  4. Yes. I played bassoon for years. I have both a Bachelor and Master's degree in it. I haven't touched it in 13 years.
  5. I could have written almost everything you said in your post. I don't have advice, but I'm posting to let you know you're not alone. It's so hard to keep going sometimes, and it's difficult to decide when to let them fail. Praying for your situation. Please keep us updated.
  6. The MIM (Musical Instrument Museum) is fabulous. The Phoenix zoo is wonderful also.
  7. One more acceptance in the mail today from Biola University along with a nice scholarship offer. We've now heard from 5 out of 6 schools.
  8. That's the guitar my daughter wants. Sounds great! I think I will add to her drum set instead.
  9. My son has been offered merit scholarships at multiple universities already for next year. I made the transcript myself listing the grades and GPA. No one questioned it.
  10. Right now, it's my son's first choice. I wonder if they met each other. :)
  11. Congratulations! My son went to 24@CBU last week. He really enjoyed the visit.
  12. This thread is scaring me. My son has wanted to major in Engineering as long as I can remember. He has struggled mightily with Precalculus, Physics, and Calculus. He is graduating this year. He also has ADD and processing issues. I'm sure hoping that hard work and perseverence can help him overcome his limitations.
  13. I have a college senior also. He's been accepted to four colleges so far, but I'm not sure he will be ready to go. Praying for wisdom and healing.
  14. One of my good friends just posted that her daughter is going to play Volleyball at Mines next year!
  15. Another college acceptance in the mail today, from California Baptist Univeristy. It came in a cute box with a window cling, fancy brochure, and a t-shirt. :) Anyway, it said he was accepted "with honors." If that involves more classes and work, I'm not sure that's a good thing. Guess we'll figure it out if he actually chooses that college.
  16. Congratulations!! I can't wait until I can use that icon in your siggy. :001_smile:
  17. I just got the Paperwhite last week. I love it! I don't use a screen protector. I had the touch before this and never used one either.
  18. We got a letter congratulating my son on receiving the Presidential Scholarship for a college that he hadn't gotten an admission letter from yet. We checked the website and he's accepted. Nice to have one more. That's his third admittance out of four completed applications.
  19. After my email yesterday, Amazon credited my account for $60 to buy a kindle. I ordered the Paperwhite. Thanks to all who posted.
  20. Bummer. I don't see any discount for me. I really want to buy the Paperwhite.
  21. I walked my son into the ACT last year and helped him find the correct room. He had accommodations and ended up in a room all by himself. He had only been to the campus one time before. I never thought twice about it. I'm sure he'll still grow into a self-sufficient adult.
