  1. What about an organization that helps senior citizens on a fixed income? Homeless youth? Pregnant teens?
  2. school discuss thankfulness (watch youtube videos on homelessness and poverty to give a visual. It is a hard concept to get in a warm house, with a bedroom full of clothes and cupboards full of food) Go to the library Forget library book that needed returning Run errand Now it is time to prepare supper. Discuss this weekends plans with DH, also Christmas gatherings, and gifts for the girls Decide on Thanksgiving food Decide on Thanksgiving dessert (for a different gathering)
  3. They each get a box of sugary cereal too. Usually we just do plain cereal, so it is a treat.
  4. This thread reminded me of this http://mommyshorts.com/2014/09/30-new-members-of-the-picky-eaters-club.html
  5. Ideas we are mulling, between us and relatives who contribute : American Girl accessories...they have long lists of stuff they'd like...my non-girly girl realized that her doll could match her and didn't have to be girly either and she now loves it. Nice sleeping bags, theirs are getting too small Tablet or Chromebook for schoolwork Gift card to the play store for apps and music Smaller items under consideration: Thinking Putty Play Silks DIY American Girl carrier from the book Growing Up Sew Liberated Tangle Teezer brush A leatherman tool or pocket knife Art Journal supplies Earrings Tradition items: PJ's on Christmas Eve An ornament A family game or two...maybe Ticket to Ride, still deciding And this year we went for an experience and we are seeing a Cirque de Soliel show
  6. Good question. My girls just watched a movie with one and we're intrigued
  7. School laundry (mountains of it due to switching out sizes and seasons) general clean up of the first floor due to remodeling chaos from the weekend.
  8. A nice library book bag with a favorite book tucked inside.
  9. I am hoping the spiralizer I got the other day from an Amazon deal of the day will be it for me. I need to avoid gluten and zucchini noodles seem like a good choice
  10. If you are holding a private mortgage, then no, you wouldn't be on the deed. Your interest in the property is secured through that recorded mortgage document.
  11. based on their current online prices, the coupons say 7"=$50 off, so $139 8"=$70 off, so $179 10"=$100 off, so $229 Target will have gift cards with an ipad purchase, I think that starts Thanksgiving day, you can check out their black Friday ad online now at Target.com...deals will be available online.
  12. Samsung GALAXY tab 4 will be on sale at Costco starting before Thanksgiving. I think that is what the grandparents will get the girls for school use.
  13. YouTube. ..kids react videos, they show kids things like an old Gameboy and see what they think. They also have elders react (to current trends) and more. Or Jimmy Fallon's hash tags on YouTube
  14. Or else there is this one. I messaged the seller to ask if the hair had been cut. No reply yet. I have a 10% coupon that expires tonight and I am torn. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMERICAN-GIRL-18-DOLL-BLONDE-HAIR-BROWN-EYES-PLEASANT-COMPANY-PRE-MATTEL-/201205274348?ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123
  15. I tried that, but on my computer and phone, I still don't see marks. She's 6 1/2, She actually got a Kailey with chopped and ratty hair 2 years ago (I got at a steal) and she is ready for one with nicer hair. So she want's Kailey again, but I'd rather not go all the way to new prices if I can.
  16. The marks the seller indicated are on the dolls face? http://www.ebay.com/itm/American-Girl-KAILEY-doll-18-inch-nude-pls-read-descrpt-pictures-/400798056729?fromMakeTrack=true Should I still get it for dd2? because I am not seeing them.
  17. I need to clean off the peninsula (again) we are doing a bathroom remodel so I have extra stuff now in the kitchen, like toothbrushes and mouthwash  But the peninsula is a clutier and pile magnet.
  18. Thanks for sharing all the great ideas, I am taking notes!
  19. This weekend we did some basement demo and wiring fixing. Took the old cast iron tub out of the upstairs bathroom. Got the final tweaks done on the outside winterizing tasks this morning as we are expecting a foot of snow tomorrow...the earliest in quite a few years. Ick. Me, I am cold. My feet and hands are usually cold all winter. I read print comics.
  20. Not a multi generational household, but when our girls were young, I only put lights and unbreakable ornaments on the tree and they could rearrange them all they wanted. I bought a couple of packs cheaply and kept their special ornaments packed away until they were past that stage.
  21. We do extended family events not on Christmas day. It is so very nice to not have to rush anywhere, stay in pajamas all day and just hang out and relax. And when we do get together with his side/my side it can be a longer gathering as we have no where else to go. Usually I host his family/my family back to back, Saturday and Sunday, then I am only cleaning once and can duplicate dishes easily to serve (ie: cut a double batch of veggies for a tray, or make up 2 potato bakes...double the dishes doesn't take twice the time usually). Christmas week we have lots of leftovers to eat so then the whole week is minimal cooking for me! DH's grandmother always has her Christmas the 2nd Saturday of December as she recognizes that everyone has many events as Christmas creeps closer. There is usually a good turn out and the only ones who often miss are the out of state grandkids. The only problem I ran into was a couple years back when one set of grandparents got an extra gift that they hadn't mentioned (we did try to coordinate) and it was something I already had gotten, so I had to create an IOU for dd1 and needless to say, she was disappointed in the moment with a piece of paper on Christmas.
  22. *showers for everyone * laundry...load of whites *put batteries in the Operation game from Goodwill *Rethink my schooling strategy and include more OT/Sensory ideas in the lessons *look at bathroom flooring samples *decide where bathroom outlets should go *Empty the basketball hoop base of water as cold weather is coming *move flower pots off of front landscaping area as sn*w is coming (that is a 4 letter word!) *more photo project work...I just want it done. *decide on something for supper...DH wanted to do a fire tonight, maybe hotdogs over the fire, that is easy!
