Totally freaked out (long)
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to kwickimom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Thank you for this information. I wasn't sure what "RAD" stood for, though I did guess from the context. My heart goes out to the parents dealing with this :grouphug: -
What time does your school day start?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to banker281's topic in General Education Discussion Board
2:30/3:00pm. I have to wait until ds2 is napping or he'll shout out the ABC answers before ds4, and he "reads" all cvc words as "cat," which confuses ds4. :tongue_smilie: -

:iagree: The 3 main signs of sociopath behavior in children is harming/killing animals for fun/without empathy, pyromania, and bed wetting. Most adults sociopaths had 2/3 in their childhood. It dosen't mean that all children who do 2/3 of those things will grow up to be sociopaths, but they are early warning signs of possible problems. As to the sexual awareness, because of some abuse in my history (I was taken away from my parents when I was 4 but I have a LOT of memories from that time...) I was kissing boys in preschool. I really hope I didn't mess them up.... I think by spiritual issue they may be referring to demonic influence or possession. -
What is that, please? We belong to the once-they're-in-bed-they-need-to-learn-to-self-sooth camp. I think I saw it called somewhere "sleep training" ?? Depending on the age of the child and how many kids are in the room, I would suggest this as an option, though I did see you co-slept with your children until the next one comes.

Ds2 goes to bed in his toddler bed and stays there. Ds4 occasionally argues against going to bed, and sometimes dh has to pick him up, but between teeth-brushing and story-time he cheers up. I think it has more to do with your your child's personality and your parenting choices/reactions that make the difference. I haven't read more than the op, but have you considered changing bedtime and routine?

:grouphug::grouphug: I have been reading your threads and I wish there was something I could say to help. I am glad you have a safe place here to vent. I come from a family of gossips; anything I said would get back to the person I was venting about :tongue_smilie: May the Lord bless you and keep you. -

listening to a foreign language
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to SeekingSimplicity's topic in General Education Discussion Board
When I was taking Spanish 1 in high school I had a few dreams in Spanish (it contained a trip to the grocery store and a game show.) And when I was in French 1 I had a few dreams in French. Everything made perfect sense in the dreams, but when I woke up I didn't understand any of it :tongue_smilie: -

preeclampsia/postpartum preeclampsia
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to Rebecca's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Congratulations on the twins! I only had pre-eclampsia before I delivered, not after. In my cases we had emergency-you're-going-to-die-if-baby-dosen't-come-out-now-surgery and that ended the pre-elampsia. I'm sorry I don't have any advice to offer, just :grouphug:s and a prayer. -

It won't let me play a second game without adding my friends. I tried that and it's not working. I would really like to find the old games, too. -
Physics for Children?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to Spy Car's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I don't have time to read the other replies, but "The NEW Way Things Work" is an excellent book and uses funny cartoon mammoths to teach concepts in physics starting with a incline plane and ending with computers. http://www.amazon.com/New-Way-Things-Work/dp/0395938473/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311364392&sr=1-1 -

No advice just :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:. I have limited access to other kids, for lack of a better way to put it :001_smile: We're trying to figure out the same things. -
Witty Phrases or Remarks?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to *~Tina~*'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
  Definitely the best joke book ever. I always hoped that I'd have something funny enough that they would pay me for it, but that has yet to happen. Love it! -
Witty Phrases or Remarks?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to *~Tina~*'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
From the book: "Ah, lassitudeinem hercle verba tua mihi addunt, enicas." Everything you say is so unbearably borring, by Hercules, that it's murder by monotony.-Plautus, Mercator "Certo scio, occisam saepe sapere plus multo suem." I'm quite sure that a stuck pig is regularly more discerning than you.-Plautus, Miles Gloriosus "Vastus animus." His mind is one vast wasteland.-Sallust, Bellum Catilinae -

"How to Insult, Abuse, and Insinuate in Classical Latin." http://www.amazon.com/insult-abuse-insinuate-classical-Latin/dp/076071018X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311291147&sr=8-1 I LOVE this book. Talk about your snarky! And the best thing is most people won't understand what you're saying, but you'll sound really smart saying it :D
