  1. Very pretty! My girls would love those. Did you use a pattern or make it up yourself?
  2. ARGH & YIKES! He had his first ever dentist appt. today and he has three cavities! His older four siblings got a clean bill of health, and only one has had a tiny cavity in the past. :001_huh: He goes for a consult with the specialist early next month. Waahhhhh!
  3. Or is that feed? The prices around here have gone up. Scratch is about $8 for a 50lb bag and layer pellets are $10 for the same size. It seems so high!
  4. We're considering sending 2 of ours to Christian school next year. I will keep my 9 & 10 yr old dds home, send the 6 & 7 yr old dss to school and also keep the 4 & almost 2yr olds at home. We have many reasons for wanting to send the 2 boys (and possibly the 4 yr old boy in the future). I feel at peace with this set-up. :001_smile:
  5. Mine eat the broken ones in the compost pile and it hasn't caused any problems.
  6. It was a 10k. I wouldn't mind doing a shorter race sometime soon. It's funny - I hated it while I was actually running the race, but now I look forward to doing it again!
  7. Our run is PVC, and the house part is an abandoned plastic playhouse that dh put on wheels. I'd love to have one like the one in the picture, but I'm wondering how they move it. It looks heavy and likely to dig into the ground instead of slide across it. ?
  8. I know what you mean. I have to keep mine in jail now because they were being a pest to my neighbor. They look so mournful and have spent these last few days pacing up and down the fence, looking for a way out. They moan and plead whenever I go out there. :( I try to make up for it by giving them extra table scraps. 9. That's awesome! Keep up the good work:) Chickenpatty (who is finally unsore from her first race on Saturday!)
  10. It was a lot harder than I expected! I've only run on my treadmill, and even with it set on an incline, it was much harder to run outside. My goal was to finish in less than an hour, but I ended up making it in 63 minutes. I finished 10,404th! There were sooooo many people (25,000?) and it was a lot of fun. The rain felt good, but now my toes are sore from being in wet shoes. I think I might try it again next year. :001_smile: Chickenpatty
  11. We have an almost permanent mudhole in the backyard & they love it. I do too, until I have to wash their clothes. The mud around here is red clay and will NOT wash out. Argh!
  12. LOL, the only way we ever ate it when I was a kid was with butter and sugar on it. :ack2: And it was the bagged, instant stuff. Now, I love it in any form (well, not with butter and sugar). Only half of my kids like it, and that's usually with soy sauce or something like that on it.
  13. I'm running my first race ever (10k) on Saturday and am wondering about this. I usually run at night a couple of hours after dinner. I usually eat raisin bran for breakfast, but I don't think I should have it on race day. Don't want to make any pit stops, if I can help it. Chickenpatty
  14. Chili w/cheese? Shepherds pie that includes beans? I often add black beans to ground beef meals. ? Sorry I have no specific recipes.
  15. I shoot for #1, but if that doesn't work, then it's a combination of all the rest. ;)
  16. Our Bibles, especially dh's old & very used one. Dd's diabtetic supplies, of course. Then, I'd swing the kitchen french doors open and shove my huge farm table & benches out! I might try to save the piano, but it's coming apart as it is.
  17. That's true. My dd had virus-like symptoms for a month before she was diagnosed. Our pedi even prescribed an antibiotic, thinking she may have had a sinus infection that she couldn't shake. Thankfully, she did not go into DKA. This situation is very, very sad.
  18. His work ethic. His integrity. His devotion to me & the kids. His love for the Lord.
  19. Oh no! I hope they never get that idea. Mine insist on chopping up the 3-4 chocolate chips they sometimes get as rewards and mixing them with water, trying to create chocolate milk.
  20. I've found most of my favorite skirts at Goodwill. Seriously! They are usually brands like Old Navy or Eddie Bauer.
  21. Yes, I've noticed that my whole wheat bread is softer and "stretchier" since I've been adding molasses. I have also begun kneading it longer, like for 10 minutes instead of 3 minutes. I add about 1/4 cup of molasses for my recipe that makes 3 loaves and it doesn't alter the flavor much, but it does give it a beautiful coffee brown color.
