  1. Or have him/her groomed? What breed is it? Thanks!
  2. This is what I do. I also dry them well then lay them out on a cookie sheet, pop them in the freezer for a few hours, then pack them into freezer bags. That way they freeze individually and don't stick together in a big mess.
  3. I remember that case. He lived just a few blocks from me.
  4. My guy does fine. I'm the one who is subtlety challenged.
  5. Yes, you can write the number as a product of prime numbers. If it is a perfect square, you will have an even number of each prime. For example 15876 = 2*2*3*3*3*3*7*7 Multiply one of each pair together (2*3*3*7)=126 Check: 126^2=15876 Obviously, you have to know how to prime factor to do this. For your example, 529, this won't really work as it is already a product of primes. For this one, I'd just guess and check. First, estimate: 20^2=400 too small 30^2=900 too big 25^2=625 too big At this point, I know that if it is a perfect square it has to be 23, as that is the only number between 20 and 25 that multiplied by itself will leave a 9 in the ones column. If it isn't a perfect square, I'd either round it to a more manageable number or guess and check.
  6. I think she is asking about 7^10, rather than 10^7. :) Since 7^2 is 49, you could round that to 50. 7^10= (7^2)^5 or ~50^5 From there, it's fairly easy to break it down and do it mentally.
  7. He needs to tell his doctor he's had weight loss and changes in bowel movements. That will get him the work-up he needs.
  8. Maybe they don't understand what you're asking them to do. If you are concerned about modesty, maybe make sure they each have a cami and tell them to please not take their tops off. Although I wouldn't care in the least if they were stripping down and sharing clothes.
  9. We don't have to separate the recyclables so the paper goes right in with the cans and plastics. Guess you don't get to do it that way. :(
  10. We have one container under the kitchen sink for garbage, and one for recycling. The city provides a large recycling container, so we just empty the under-sink container when it fills up every few days. Be careful! Three years ago I bought wood blinds for the living room. That led to ripping out the carpet and replacing it with hardwood flooring in the entire house, which led to painting the entire house, which led to new furniture, which led to enclosing the screened porch and turning it into a sunroom, which led to more new furniture. There goes the college fund.
  11. 5th grade: A. If math were a color, it would be –, because –. B. If it were a food, it would be –, because –. C. If it were weather, it would be –, because –.
  12. Yes, and you have to spend a day at an inservice to learn it. I don't have a problem with kindergartners learning chants and dances, but this particular one is insipid and boring. And it's got nothing to do with math. Plus, you just can't beat the Hokey Pokey.
  13. I don't recall dancing as part of the SM curriculum.
  14. I've heard that too. Wonder why they felt the need to improve on the best?
  15. Sorry to hijack, but would this be appropriate for a 10th grader studying Middle Ages?
  16. Immunity from the older whole cell vaccine lasted longer (about 30 years) but that is no longer in use.
  17. Carbon monoxide was my first thought. Fire stations can usually check levels. I'd drive to your local fire house and let the car idle a little while with the windows closed, then have them check it.
  18. Yep, calipers. We use them for measuring intervals on EKG tracings.
  19. How do they know it's not pertussis? It takes a couple days to get the results back. I sure hope they tested you! It's not uncommon to have pneumonia resulting from pertussis. If they didn't test you, I would go back and insist.
