  1. I'm not much on the privacy/slippery slope bandwagon, but I have to admit it really annoys me that all my local stores now swipe my drivers license when I buy alcohol or M rated video games. You can't buy those things without it.
  2. I didn't read the whole article, but the second paragraph is:
  3. :iagree::iagree::iagree: I wonder if they really think the truant kids are going to wear it when they leave school. :001_rolleyes: Seems like a massive waste of money.
  4. I get tons of this cr*p on Facebook. When I post a link to Snopes, people tell me that Snopes has an extremist liberal agenda and can't be trusted. :D
  5. The principal made a mistake. It's a public health issue. The nurse is coming from a public health perspective. The Board of Education, who checks records, is going to have a public health perspective. They might make an exception for you, but legally and medically, they shouldn't. ETA: I'm just referring to immunizations. Most districts require a health form, but only require a physical for athletics, although they encourage them for everyone.
  6. We've always had to provide immunization records when my kids did ps part time. Very routine.
  7. Thanks everyone, lots of great suggestions here. I think you've talked me out of it. :D I'm sure we can find something else. Doesn't seem like it should be so hard to find a white dress. :glare:
  8. First, I can sew but I'm not an expert. Second, I don't have a pattern and can't find a similar one. My dd needs a white dress for a lyrical solo. This one is perfect, but it's a custom order and wouldn't be ready in time. I'd be happy to make it, but I've never attempted something without a pattern. Is it doable, or should we just forget it? Any suggestions?
  9. I make this. It's too sweet as written; I use a little less than 1/2 cup brown sugar. Otherwise, it's perfect.
  10. I do the same. I've started buying 4 packs of small bottles (like these) for cooking.
  11. :iagree: When dh travels, I'm on vacation. He's never been gone for 2 months though...
  12. That's hilarious. For some reason the third picture just cracked me up.
  13. My favorites. Be sure to read the reviews. The Chicken Chili is too hot as written. I leave out the jalapenos. Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili Mulligatawny Soup I
  14. My kids would have done those things, but there is no way that they would have done them as well as an adult could, and I wouldn't have expected them too. At 15, my dd can do just about any household job as well as I can, but at 7? No way.
  15. I think so, because it says "pavers" in the message. When I get Craigslist spam, it never has the name of what I'm selling. It's just a generic "I'm interested." Also, how much are you asking? Spammers never bother me unless what I'm selling is worth more than $100 or so.
  16. I understand. I have a phobia of dentists too. I've had to have quite a bit of work done on my teeth in the last few years, and it's never as bad as I'm expecting. And every time I go, it gets easier. I have taken Xanax in the past and it does help. You definitely need to be seen. The longer you wait, the more likely it will progress and you'll need more extensive work. So call now! :) It may be something simple. And be sure to tell the dentist about your anxiety. They can help you relax.
  17. How attached is she to it? If you don't mind taking a chance, I've put tulle dresses in a mesh lingerie bag and washed them on gentle and they've turned out just fine. I wouldn't do it if she'd be heartbroken if it's ruined though.
  18. 1. If you had an NPD parent, was there a lot of yelling and screaming in your house? 2. How was/is your NPD with pets?
  19. Do you have a University Hospital nearby? You might try that. It's usually quicker to get consults with a specialist there.
  20. But I'm not asking what it's "like" to be Christian. I'm looking for how people define it. I can define what it is to be male and what the requirements are. :)
  21. understand what that means? My husband and I are having a slight disagreement about what people mean when they say they are a Christian. What makes a person a Christian? Are there specific requirements? Is there a universal definition, or can everyone sort of identify as Christian however they want? Is belief in Jesus' resurrection required? Can someone be a Christian if they follow the teachings of Jesus, but don't believe that Jesus is the son of God? If you aren't a Christian, how would you define it? I hope this is not a stupid question. I am not a Christian, and while I have my own answers, I really don't know if Christians would agree with me. I hope we can discuss this without conflict. Thanks.
