  1. My favorite rug came from TJ Maxx. I'd love to have several like it, but they haven't had any more since. Every now and then I get really lucky there though. I've also seen some nice ones occasionally at Tuesday Morning.
  2. :iagree::iagree::iagree: I've done it before. It's a lot of work for no benefit.
  3. Ds was conceived when dd2 was 7 weeks old. I was exclusively nursing and hadn't had a period. :) They are 11 months and 2 weeks apart.
  4. I just did this last week. Way easier than sauce, and now I can use them as a base for sauces as well as for soups, etc. I actually cooked it down quite a bit though.
  5. People with allergic alveolitis from birds usually have intense exposure, like occupational exposures to lots of birds, or breeders. But it's certainly a possibility.
  6. That parrot raises several possibilities. There are several infectious diseases, but something else to consider is allergic alveolitis, one type of which is called bird-fanciers lung. Tons of info on Dr. Google.
  7. I just noticed your siggy, and that you have a parrot. You should definitely mention that next time you see your doctor.
  8. Not a stupid question at all! Especially if you have a pet bird. Histoplasmosis occurs mainly in wild birds and bats, but could possibly be carried by a pet. Probably pretty uncommon though. More common is psittacosis, which does occur in pet birds and can cause respiratory illnesses. It generally causes an acute pneumonia like illness though, and I'm not aware of it causing chronic symptoms. But if you have a pet bird, definitely mention it to your doctor!
  9. Histoplasmosis is caused by a fungus that lives in the soil, and is carried by birds and bats. Toxoplasmosis is a parasite carried by cats. Totally different disease. :)
  10. I would urge you to get a second opinion, and find someone highly recommended. 70% is mild and your shortness of breath seems more severe than you would expect. Something else seems to be going on and I would want to find out what. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Good luck.
  11. My dd is a senior at a ps that is supposed to be one of the best in the state. They don't even have senior English, let alone honors English. They do offer an AP English class - maybe that's the same thing. The kids are required to take 4 years of English, but basically 2 of those years can be electives. Most of the electives are a joke. One of dd's electives is "College Grammar". The first day, her teacher told the class they used to call it "Basic Grammar" but parents complained, so they changed the name. He then told them that it was the grammar they should have learned by 5th grade but didn't. I took a look at the syllabus and we had covered most of it by Rod and Staff 5. She better ace this class. :glare: In 9th and 10th grade English, the assigned readings were almost all read aloud by the teacher and sometimes round robin by students. We were told they had to do this, since none of the kids would read the books otherwise. Some of the projects dd did for those classes included decorating a paper bag and filling it with "artifacts" that described her, posters, a rap song, and PowerPoint presentations. There was almost no writing. She will graduate from high school without having written anything longer than 2 or 3 pages, and there were only a couple of those. She has never done a research paper. Dd2 is doing English at home for high school.
  12. :grouphug: Sounds like your dd is in good hands. What do you think he should have done differently?
  13. It's genetic. :D Grammar Freaks Really Are Strange
  14. This is what happened with our current puppy. She learned very quickly that she was supposed to pee when she went outside, but she didn't seem to get that she couldn't go inside, too. We crate trained and tomato staked her, but she would get out of my sight occasionally. I once found her peeing on the floor, and surprised her with a loud "NO" and clapped my hands, followed by taking her outside. That did the trick. She's never done it again.
  15. :iagree: People who aren't properly restrained are a danger to others in the car in the event of an accident. So everyone is restrained correctly, or they don't ride.
