  1. :iagree: His view of Catholicism is rather extreme. I don't really see how Catholicism is any further from, say, Methodism than some Pentecostals are. He is not a person I would look to for advice on this particular issue. :001_smile: (Said by a Methodist raised by a theologian to believe that we are all a part of the body of Christ.)
  2. Honestly I probably would have cried and never wanted to go back. I am ridiculously oversensitive like that though. I don't think what I would have done is your best option lol
  3. I feel your pain! That is all. :grouphug:
  4. DS11: Paleontologist missionary DS11: Air Force Officer DSD12: Chef DSS16: Enlisted Marine The first DS11 is convinced he can do both. He will look for bones during the day in some far out place and at night preach sermons and teach Bible classes :) Never mind he is allergic to dust and himself (literally he has an autoimmune that produces histamine and fights his own blood lol). I told him he better marry a doctor to take with him! Second DS11 has wanted to be this for years. Hopefully the Academy takes kids with speech, language processing and reading disorders!
  5. I'm interested. I am a creationist but don't quibble at all about how it was done. That is for God to know. I have never really understood the theory of evolution at all and would love to.
  6. I might re-boil it to kill any germs and freeze it but I live on the wild side! :tongue_smilie:
  7. I grew up in the country and always went barefoot. I actually still do now that I think of it. My bio kids are always barefoot also, my step kids never are.
  8. We go to church but that is about it. I have daycare kids though and I have three children of my own very close in age. We only have one car right now and DH takes it to work. Frankly, we can't even afford the gas right now to go to activities much less the activity fees. I would love for the kids to do sports but honestly between the energy and money that all of the kids' special needs takes, I don't have it in me. I always feel bad when I read about other kids and all the fun things they do. Then I look at our kids. They are content and happy. Doing any more than trying to get through school, chores, etc would just exhaust them. They are at their limit.
  9. That is a great idea! If we ever move back near my family I will start that. I don't know why I never thought of that!
  10. This is what we do. My oldest usually wears "around the house clothes" but the little three only get dressed to go out and play or when we leave the house. They do take a shower every single morning though and put on clean underthings with new pajamas. I don't wear pjs just "around the house clothes" for me too. I take them off for bedtime :tongue_smilie:
  11. LOL I was just about to ask what it cost. I will have to check it out!
  12. I potty trained my twins (and all my daycare kids) with Gerber thick underwear. Works great! :0
  13. :iagree: This happened to DH and I also. I had never been married but he had. Our pastor asked us what the divorce was for and then agreed to marry us. It isn't a ceremony though or anything like that.
  14. We have a white board. It is approximately 2 ft x 4 ft. I set it up on a chair during school and take it down when we are done. I may not if I worked with kids individually but all 3 littles are in the same grade.
  15. I have never NOT seen one fenced in, that is crazy. It seems like a high liability in today's society.
  16. :iagree: We honestly barely child-proofed our own home. I just taught the twins not to touch things, we had a pellet stove with no gate and stairs with no gate. When they were really little I just was always with them.
  17. :iagree: Above is what we do. My dad will actually wash meat he is worried about with Dawn, rinse it really well, cook it, and eat it. He has never had a problem either. (He grew up eating dandelion soup in the late 30's-early 40s because they were so poor so even though we have money now he is still odd like that.)
  18. :iagree: My boys are 11 and exceedingly goofy! It can be obnoxious but they are little boys having fun.
  19. When I was little my lovey was in the microwave of the play kitchen. I still remember that horribly traumatizing 2 weeks!
  20. I was a competitive swimmer for years and years. Our meets were always Fri-Sat-Sun. At first my parents were really opposed but as I got good there wasn't really a choice. We usually went to Sunday evening service if the meet was over in time. We were very involved throughout the week in church though also. With my kids, I don't know. I think it would depend on how good they were or something I am not sure.
  21. Thank you so much for sharing this. I can be outspoken and I will be very careful of this in the future. :grouphug:
