  1. It's just personification... nothing about exorcism or demons.
  2. Sounds like you might be dealing with her being on the autism spectrum. It would be worth doing ome reading on. For resources at home, I think Michelle Garcia-Winner's stuff could be a good fit for her.
  3. I think holding her back makes the most sense. It will be nice for her to be advanced and find a couple of subjects (math and science) easy, A confidence builder in the face of the other challenges she'll be facing in the transition.
  4. I have no ideas to help, but just wanted to pass on some (hugs). Worrying about a child's health is so hard on a mother's heart!
  5. Oh no, I am so sorry. Please don't be hard on yourself for the choices you made. Don't hang on to the guilt. I hope many arms are around you in this difficult time.
  6. If the craving hits me, I eat a carrot while standing out in the cold and holding it like a cigarette. It's stupid. I don't let people see me do it, and wouldn't admit this to anyone I know IRL. But while I'm standing there feeling stupid, I realize that smoking would be more stupid.
  7. Oh my. I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you and your family. You can and will make it through this. Just keep going, second by second. Hugs
  8. I've never been to or heard of a church being like that. I would not be impressed at all! Ours has colouring stuff and a few donated toys to entertain the kids between sunday school and the meeting. The kids mostly just play with eachother.
  9. I do the eating thing here. I fold and sort clothes on the couch. And then when dinner's on the table, no kid eats until the couch is cleared and all is in drawers. It happens very fast....no one likes cold food!
  10. Glad you're making progress with this, but do your best to try to stay away from Dr. Google for the night!
  11. Hmmm. I find all this pencil talk perplexing. We've never had issues with pencils. They break sometimes. Get dull. Nothing drastic. No issues with sharpeners either. Maybe you're expecting too much out of your pencils?
  12. Is it possible you're using a latex paint over and oil-based paint?
  13. There's a few different things that could be going on here. Was your dd's vision okay at a distance, or much worse all around? Has she tried wearing them for a while at home (gradually increasing the time daily) to see how she adjusts? She shouldn't need bifocal contacts at her age. There are times when that's needed for kids, but it's not common, and is generally needed in the glasses as well.
  14. I did an overview study of this for our ladies Bible study. I could email you the word document. PM me if you'd like it.
  15. I think this is going to vary hugely for each family, depending on how quickly their child learns to read. My dd, who is 6 now and in grade 1, is on book 2. I expect she'll get through book 3 by the end of grade 1.
  16. I would say learn to identify birds until the new glasses are in :)
  17. We have Sunday school for about an hour with classes from ages 3 to adult. Then coffee break, then service is about and hour to an hour and a half. In the evening we have a lecture, focussed on gospel proclaimation, and a mid-week Bible study in the evening. We also have a ladies Bible study on a weekly in the morning, and once a month in the evening for the ladies who work during the week. Usually quarterly or so we also have study days or weekends, with a series of classes for adults with kids classes seperately. And we have youth group bi-weekly on friday nights for the younger kids, and weekly on Friday nights for the teens.
  18. I've read that there's a very high corrolation of milk allergy and intolerances with bed wetting. Have you tried going dairy free?
  19. Take him out on leash to pee regularly and praise him to bits and give him goodies when he does it.
  20. I just went through this. You really need to rest it. It allows scar tissue to form on the muscle. It is super easy to reinjure it if you haven't given it enough time to heal. Massage doesn't help. Making yourself rest is super hard... mine only got better after I got the flu and had to stay in bed for several days!
  21. I hardly ever get sick, and I've had it 4 times since fall. I started getting a fever again last night, and was just shocked. I'm beginning to think that I'm jusst not getting the rest I need to recover and get well enough for my body to fight the next thing that comes along. I want to hibernate. I think bears have it good.
  22. We have the opposite problem with underwear here. My ds who's 8.5 and 55lbs just grew out of the size 5! I got him some bigger ones, and they droop big time. The poor child is seriously lacking a rear end!!
