  2. :):chillpill:We're taking a week break for vacation. Then we're doing math, a unit study on ww I through wwII, penmanship and composition, open courseware poetry class, and a health unit for our summer program.
  3. I would call an exterminator that also specializes in dead animal recovery and site sanitation. You don't want to spend a month or more dealing with this problem.
  4. I dropped a book in the tub once. I was able to dry it out using my hair dryer (drying page by page). The pages dry surprisingly fast and after they dry you'll have a fat book so you stack a lot of books or heavy objects on the dried book for a week or more. It worked well for me. :)
  5. I've written a lot of my own curriculum because I never find exactly what I like. Even the pre-made curriculum I buy is tweaked and expanded. I actually enjoy making our own units and plans.:001_smile:
  6. Nah. Couldn't wear that. It is so not what I am these days.
  7. This looks very similar to the US History course that UC Open Access has. We did their program this past year. It is a generic history course and IMO a good jumping off place or spine. We read one of the recommended textbooks along with the video program. My girls enjoyed it. :)
  8. You don't have to remove the tree. However, whatever part is on her property is subject to removal. She can have the part of the tree that is overhanging on her property trimmed. Because of that, I'd recommend that you beat her to the punch. Call a licensed tree trimmer and have it cut so that it will be discouraged from growing on her side. We had that done with a tree we owned. You want to be the one to do that because if it is done incorrectly, it can damage the tree. I suspect she wouldn't care about damaging your tree. As for the facebook stuff, I'd get screen prints for documentation purposes. I would probably approach her and tell her that you have seen the posts and are concerned. The post about poisoning the dogs is particularly disturbing. She needs to be put on notice that any aggressive/hostile behavior will not be tolerated. She sounds like a wacko.
  9. My daughters LOVED the CLP Readers! I had the whole set and they read them in less than a week. Very engaging reading! Another suggestion might be to browse Project Gutenberg for nature books. We're reading A Book of Natural History and it is super interesting!
  10. I just have to share! I was on Project Gutenberg and found this book. I only wish mine were young enough for me to do it with them. :( Anyway, I'm sharing for those of you with littles. Finger Plays for Nursery & Kindergarten by Emilie Poulsson
  11. I love the turf of hair on the 2nd one. He is soooo punk lol!
  12. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I'm so sorry you all are going through this. :(
  13. You did the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. You did the right thing. Maybe this will help your niece recognize that he needs intervention. It sounds like he needs serious professional help. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  14. Yikes! That sounds completely unfair! It also may be very questionable from an HR standpoint as well but then the question is whether anyone would want to bring that up and risk the attention it may create. Has any of the other attendees mentioned that this seems outrageous? I would hope that others in your dh's position would get together to question this 'en mass' so that not just one or two are doing the questioning (and getting potentially negative attention) for all the others that could benefit.
  15. I posted other. We're looking at Jacob's for Geometry. I am choosing that because it has very good reviews and I plan to use the Callahan videos with it. At least that is the plan for now. :)
  16. Used to live there! Lots of fun stuff to do in Denver: 16th Street Mall, Molly Brown House, Eat at the Brown Palace, take a trip to Golden to see the old mining town and Coors Brewery, Elitch Gardens is a fun amusement park to spend a day at, Denver has a zoo, museums (the natural museum is fantastic) and a botanic garden. If you love books and want to spend a good part of a day in, what I think is the BEST bookstore, check out the Tattered Cover. It is amazing!
  17. oops..just saw the update. Sounds like her family is trying to help. It is sad that we need to worry about our seniors in this way. :(
  18. :iagree: This!!! If it was me, something would 'come up suddenly' and I wouldn't be attending. It is getting way too strange and I can see feelings being hurt and it could make things uncomfortable for you in the other relationships.
  19. A couple years ago I did a lot of amigurumi. It was a lot of fun! I learned all my crochet via You Tube and other crochet videos on the net. There are a couple of nice books out there too that helped too... Creepy Cute Crochet by Christen Haden and Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet [Paperback] Ana Paula Rimo
