  1. DS17 has applied to 3 NC schools, and he's been accepted to his first choice (Appalachian State) with a partial academic scholarship. He's still waiting on the other two (UNC-Charlotte and NC State). Unless the other two offer more money, he'll be at App. DS19 has been accepted as a transfer student at UNC-Greensboro and has also applied to an online program at UNC-Wilmington. He hasn't heard back from Wilmington yet.
  2. Very cool! My oldest son is applying to an online program at UNC-W too. He can't be on campus either but not for such a cool reason. 🙂 Congrats!
  3. I just went through this before putting our house on the market. Nothing worked for us except scraping with a razor blade...definitely doesn't meet the easy requirement. I'd recommend the rain-x and daily squeegee afterward.
  4. We put a mini-split in a 3rd floor bonus room that had a hard time staying cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We don't live in that house anymore, but I wouldn't hesitate to use a mini-split again if we needed it...it worked great.
  5. I know him but my husband and I are UCF graduates.
  6. We used Holt Environmental Science. My son was taking AP Environmental when we pulled him out of ps, and it was the best thing I could find to finish up the subject. It wasn't too demanding (which is what we needed at the time), and I used the online teacher resources they have available. Had I picked the curriculum for that year, I would probably have gone with something else like anatomy or marine biology.
  7. Hmmm...for me, Plated is $9.95 per serving and Hello Fresh was $9.99 per serving.
  8. Haven't heard of Gobble. We switched from Hello Fresh to Plated. Plated has a lot more interesting (also more complicated) options for the same price. I got bored with the Hello Fresh dinners after about 6 months.
  9. We're Lolli and Pop. :-) We'll see how long it takes for her to be able to pronounce the L's
  10. Can you add ds to University of North Carolina (Greensboro)? I posted (#49) but wanted to make sure it got on the list. Thanks for doing this!
  11. No firsthand experience so I can't give you many details, but my cousin's daughters both attended the program and had a great time. In fact, the younger one is there now.
  12. Sent them back...didn't like the straps...it was a visual thing for me and not a comfort thing. I'm going to try the Gizehs and see if I like them better. I ordered from Zappos.
  13. You do not have to follow the requirements for the public schools. I'd follow the requirements for the UNC schools if you plan on applying to them. If you're going to go the CC/transfer route then do what you want. If you do still want/need 2 US history courses, you can get them through dual enrollment, and they're offered on campus and online at the NC community colleges. A good Facebook group to join to learn more about dual enrollment in NC is North Carolina Homeschooling for College Credit.
  14. I have 3 pairs of Bostons--black suede, brown suede, brown suede with fleece lining--that are over 20 years old. I don't wear them as much as I used to but I refuse to get rid of them. I'm waiting on my first pair of sandals to arrive today--Mayaris in black oiled leather. Arizonas are next on my list.
  15. Nope...continue at CC where he is doing DE or move to local public U and live at home? My guess is he'll stay at the CC.
  16. We took my younger three to see School of Rock and Matilda on Broadway when they were 15, 13, and 9. School of Rock was definitely the favorite for all of us. It really is great for all ages. My kids even bought the soundtrack when we got home and learned all the songs. We all saw Lion King when it toured and they didn't like it as much as School of Rock.
  17. We just went last month! One of my favorite vacations of all time; can't wait to go back. Highly recommend renting your own car and driving. We were there for only 4 full days. We flew in early in the morning, drove to the Blue Lagoon, and then into Reykjavik. Spent one night there, one night near Glacier Lagoon, one night in Vik at a B&B, and one night near the airport. The only thing I would do differently is spend more time there. I'd like to go in the summer and rent a camper van and camp around the ring road. Highlights were the visit to Glacier Lagoon, glacier hike and ice cave tour, Blue Lagoon (man-made and touristy but still a cool experience), hunting the northern lights, Icelandic water and dairy, and walking/shopping the streets of Reykjavik.
  18. Thanks for posting this! I ordered 2 books this afternoon but was able to cancel the order and reorder with the coupon.
  19. So far leggings, a reversible style umbrella, Starbucks gift card and probably workout/yoga clothes from Lululemon or Athleta.
  20. We moved to NC from Orlando 13 years ago. Haven't missed it yet. :001_smile: Hope it works out for you!
  21. I have 2 pair of these...I'm actually wearing them now. I love them for sleeping, wearing around the house, or wearing as a base layer. They're very warm and comfortable. I don't love them on their own. I prefer something thicker and something less shiny. They will also pill after the first washing.
  22. Just to follow up...they responded quickly and offered a return/refund or a 15% credit for repairs. They didn't have another sweater to give me an exchange, which is disappointing because I like the sweater.
  23. Were you able to talk to the stylist beforehand? I told my stylist that I was after black leggings and jeans and sweaters/shirts to go with them and that's what I got, along with some shoes, a purse, and a hat.
