  1. I'm not Christian and the only Christians I know believe in both the Bible and an old earth, so I'm still going with "not really, no".
  2. No advice, but I have to say this may be the first time I've seen "fair weather friends" used literally rather than metaphorically. :) :grouphug:
  3. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules :)

  5. If I couldn't afford it I wouldn't pay. If I could afford it I wouldn't pay either, just on principle. Did you get a chance to talk to the librarian today?
  6. In SE Asia they sell prickly heat powder and it really helps. It's on Amazon but if you want something sooner the closest thing I've found sold in stores in Gold Bond Medicated Powder. Also comes in extra strength.
  7. I read them aloud and DS gives me answers. An easier option is to let him look at them but I read them so he practices holding numbers in his head. There are answer pages for them in the HIG if you don't feel like doing them in your head. I don't know anything about the flash cards.

  10. I'm convinced there's only so much "decluttering energy" in the world. We have out of town guests arriving and I'm sorry I took more than my share for the last couple of days. I'm just about done and am sending it your way!
  11. Everything in this thread sounds typical to me.
  12. We were posting at the same time! Love that movie....
  13. Completely agree. I've been lucky enough to meet, and in some cases befriend, many pioneers in computing. The majority of them have degrees in math, physics, music, literature, or English. One of my closest friends, who has over 70 computing patents in multiple countries, majored in Communications. Music seems to be an especially common one among the pioneers. And many computing experts who did not major in music still seem to play multiple instruments and/or are in a band. They are just Thinkers, with a capital T. Most of them have gotten big computing ideas from doing drugs too, but let's not go there.
  14. Give it another go. Have you seen the SWB video in which she does dictation with her son? It really helped me see that it's okay to give them plenty of help. Part 1: Part 2:
  15. Your update gave me chills (in a good way)! :grouphug:
  16. If your hostas die, it was probably me. Apologies in advance.
  17. My city is always looking for hams to join our citizen emergency response team. If they go through a background check and fingerprinting, they are supposed to report to the police station for replaying info during an emergency. (Around here, most likely an earthquake.)
  18. I've killed hostas. There, it's out. <_<
  19. I just joined and have only been one time so my list is short: Peet's Gaia coffee log of chevre pre-cooked polenta seaweed snacks whole chickens boneless short ribs (haven't made these yet) organic trail mix roasted cashews (best and freshest I've ever had) Dubliner cheese
  20. I don't know anything about YE, but from my experience you won't be able to just skip a chapter about the age of the earth. Different ages of things are mentioned throughout all the texts I've seen, ie "This sedentary rock, xx million years old, was once an ancient seabed." It won't just be in a single chapter.
  21. "Oh my goodness, there are so many! Where to start?" (Appear flustered because you have to deal with so much information.) Then reel off some names/professions from here, here, and here.
