  1. Congratulations. I love giving books and special picture frames for birthdays or welcome home presents. Gift cards are always nice because you get to choose, but little ones often miss the joy of opening a surprise iykwim. Right now special dated or personalized Christmas ornaments would be a nice way to mark the occasion.
  2. Soph, our resident vet, has a social group open for question. Click on the user control panel and look for it. hth
  3. I'm not sure I'm shocked as much as saddened by the number. It does look so very low, especially when you consider they work with so many moms and babies.
  4. Based on your post, I'd take her back to the dr as she may be developing a secondary infection. Laying on the couch isn't getting better and after a week most kids will be up if they are on the mend. Hope she's bouncing off the walls soon. iykwim!;)
  5. Sending hugs and prayers your way. (I read through your post this morning and just wanted to send another :grouphug: your way.)

  6. Congratulations! I've attended many a military affair. Dark pants, a nice blouse and comfy shoes will be fine. Business casual has so many options with only a few misses. Don't wear flip-flops, tennis shoes, sweats, short-shorts or swimwear. San Diego is pretty casual as far a cities go anyway. I never felt over or under dressed in dark slacks with a nice shirt and shoes at most functions. If they want you in a dress...they will specify it. ;) Enjoy yourself~
  7. I remember this one, and I almost went and dug it up the other day to post. Thanks. :001_smile: Anyone have the old post from Kpzz? You know the one about shinning eyes. That one was a keeper too, but lost during our last computer crash.
  8. *********************************************~Hi Brindee~*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************We've missed you!**********************************************************************

  9. Sleepy...Thank you. I wish my computer had amazing graphics like yours, and I wish I could rep ya! ***************************************************

  10. I'd pray, save money, spend as little as possible, check into unemployment benefits and the regs, look for another job and plan as though you would be laid off. Many people are shaken if they are cut off and loose valuable time before they layoff to prepare. Honestly, 30% still leaves 70% with a job, but will his employer look for future cuts if these don't do the trick? Plan for today, tomorrow and next year. It never hurts to have a plan in place versus reacting to life's curve balls. Prayers for you.:grouphug:
  11. I've adopted a personal policy to ignore many of the negative threads, but they often sting non-the-less. Maybe winter breeds distress ihdk. Thank you to the countless times someone here has encouraged me. Nothing in life is perfect, but I honestly believe in the goodness of the differences in each of us and those that keep trying day after day. :grouphug:Hugs to everyone:grouphug:.
  12. :grouphug:Sending Hugs and Prayers your way. Hang in there.:grouphug:
  13. We've been paying extra via a mortgage twice monthly mortgage accelerator program. Our actual monthly loan amount is 22%, but our current twice monthly payments are 28%. We have the option to make our original loan payments, but would rather save the $ and pay off years early.
  14. Another vote here for other. Dh financially supports the four of us 100%. Over the years his participation in the education of our children has changed. He does participate in the parenting of them each and every day, but not the day to day lessons. Now, as far as school goes he's the principle in many ways. He does support me in my role as educator. He picks up the slack, listens to my curriculum choices/woes/ worries & successes, drives or substitutes when needed, pushes the kids when necessary and I wouldn't want to home school without him.;)
  15. For a cocktail party today...I'd go with a nude pair, shimmer if possible. Enjoy yourself~
  16. She sounds sweet and like a seven year old to me, who is trying to figure out the complexities and subtle degrees of telling the truth with kindness, (The whole truth, and nothing but the truth!) in everyday old life. You know what, I would happily speed (in great excess of the speed limit) down the highway..if I wouldn't get a ticket. I also do not like to share some of my things...Oldest child here, who had a destructive sister. Your dd sounds perfectly normal to me and just needs a little guidance. Is she a perfectionist? Sounds like she is a little hard on herself at times.
  17. I take Tylenol at the first sign and if that doesn't work, I reach for the Excedrin Migrane too. Count me in on the limiting caffeine, B12 and overall attention to how I'm treating my body as the years tick by. Mine now seem to be linked to my cycle, and having the warning helps with treatment. Hope you're feeling better, migraines are a living nightmare.
  18. I detest them! I never even thought of the dryer and I'm having one of those light-bulb moments here.;) I have a rack and let them drip dry, but we have lots of winter wear.
  19. Wow, I never thought of this and it sounds so yummy. I'm making black-eyed peas with a ham bone today, but this is on my list for next time.
  20. We still use our KFHE, my best $10.00 used book sale to date. That one is a keeper. ;) The Usborne World History was received well by my ds, but my dd never liked the style.
  21. I use a cheap (under $20) box-heater fan to warm up a room here and there. The fan part helps move the air and speeds up the heating. UNplug it right away, it save electricity and it's safer. The cheap ones do need to be monitored around little ones, but it doesn't get hot/hot to the touch. You can also check with your electric company for pricing information. We had a comparison to different styles of heat...electricity, gas, etc. Try to keep warm. I agree with the layering up, but use the little heater in the morning or just before bed to help. The silk pointelle long-johns from LL Bean are amazing and don't make you feel stiff and puffed up. (Your regular clothes will still fit.:D) I beleive Land's End has them too and they are worth the dollars spent imo. The heater fan can also be used as a plain old fan in the summer. Consider sealing out the cold with window coverings...drapes or the plastic and one of those door draft dodgers. Also look under your sinks (for drafts) and put the foam liners into you electrical sockets.
  22. Don't go out or to bed with wet hair. And of course the clean underwear were a given.
