  1. :grouphug:Watching their hearts break as a mom is beyond words; and I'm really they have to see him for what he is. Moms and dads should make you feel loved...even when it's not convenient. He's a donkey-butt.
  2. To an 8y/old I'd explain it and not expect them to understand or like it. This is one of those cases of doing what you have to do as a parent.
  3. Mount Vernon (My kids loved it there.) We joined and visited lots of lesser known attractions. All the Smithsonians are worth the trip, my kids favs Air & Space Natural History The Zoo Capital, White House all have great tours The out door monuments are worth the effort...Many of our visitors loved the bus tours The Mint We're hoping to get back this summer. Alexandria has a lot of nice places to stay and a great Farmer's market.
  4. We have a desk set up with supplies and an easel. Keeping the supplies neat is a battle, and I've moved the whole mess to the basement.
  5. Please make room in the corner for me too. I find it very interesting that many people/families couldn't get a home loan or refinance today, much less a loan of any kind...but huge loans for student debt is pretty much a done deal.
  6. I'm wondering too. Our weather doesn't cooperate for much outdoor time during winter and even spring here.
  7. :grouphug:I'm sorry you are being hurt by their distance. You might try discussing this with you dh and friend. Loosing a good friend to divorce is so hard. It was hard for me to let go, but my friend needs single people now. btdt
  8. Check your state regs. (HSLDA) My state has strict test reqs and does not accept it, but many do.
  9. Oh, the poor baby. I think some of them have super-sensitive skin. One of mine did and the only detergent that worked was and still is ALL free and clear. Cloth diapers didn't work for my sensitive skin little one, no matter the method I tried for washing. I hope you find the answer, we just gave up and went with disposable. (If you little one is super-sensitive, you may have to look at her baby soap, lotions, foods and even think all cotton clothing.)
  10. This thread is terrifying me... I've got a 17 y/old and a 14 y/old. I'm afraid I've missed the boat with my oldest and wonder how on earth we'll be able to afford a decent school.
  11. Vent away. You are a wonderful mom and your little one is a beauty. They can go suck eggs; and I hope they're under done and give them a few trips to can-can.
  12. Yesterday, I was stunned reading my Brave Writer e-mail update from Julie:confused:. We're already Brave Writer users and fans here, but I'll be ordering something very soon. Way to go Susan!
  13. Our go to meal is pasta with a red-veggie sauce, garlic bread and a salad. (Not everyone in the house is a veg.)
  14. My former neighbor had a cleaning service that required her to be out of the house for their insurance policy...
