  1. Thank you! DD1 was having trouble finding a book she was interested in at the library last time, I'll take a look at these.
  2. We used the Malem alarm that I bought off Amazon. It worked for one child that was nearly 7 at the time, a really heavy sleeper who had never woken up dry. It did take nearly the full 12 weeks but it worked, the child and I were both so glad we tried it! Then a 5 year old wanted to try it and was dry overnight within a week, and the 3 year old wanted a turn with it ;) and was dry within a 2 nights. I'm glad we tried it, it worked better than I expected.
  3. We have tile throughout most of the main level of our house. I tried a Shark steam mop a few years ago after hearing a lot about them, it did a fair (at best) job of cleaning the tile and nothing for the grout. When it died within the year I didn't replace it. Though, to be honest, I think my dining room & kitchen tile needs a pressure washer more than a steam mop.
  4. Another vote for Ting here. We have been with Virgin Mobile & Sprint in the past, happy to be with Ting now.
  5. My 8 year old DD1 gets severe motion sickness, I did as a child and luckily it's not as bad now (as long as I'm sitting in the front). I keep dramamine and a barf bag in the car for her. She can listen to her iPod, but if she tries to read or play on a tablet then it gets really bad.
  6. Black bean & corn salad (with cilantro, lime, & bell peppers) is one of my favorite summer sides with black beans.
  7. Does cleaning the cat box count? If not, cleaning the bathrooms.
  8. Nope nope nope. The summer after my freshman year in college I worked at a call center for a *ahem* "large retail store formerly known for its catalogues" shall we say. I saw the pushy way they tried to sell the extended warranties/maintenance agreements. I made it through 2 weeks of training, 1 day on the floor and quit, deciding I would rather flip burgers than try to sell those things.
  9. I wouldn't have one son done just because others were, even if my spouse wanted it done. I want to say I would go by the "2 yes, 1 no" rule for this one but really, it's not my body or my husband's and the owner of the body wouldn't be able to give consent.
  10. Mine was sharp, excruciating pain that was worse than any other pain I had experienced before. I'd rather give birth every day before breakfast than experience that again! I modified my diet but it didn't make a difference, the attacks were coming every other night. Finally one night about 2 am I woke up DH, informed him I was driving myself to the ER in his car (leaving him the van with the car seats) and that he would have to come and get me in the morning. My gallbladder has been medical waste for about 2.5 years now and good riddance.
  11. OK, it sounds like I need to find a company to do that. I just don't want to have to hand scrub ALL the grout and then seal it.
  12. Love our Roomba! It motivates us to keep the floors clean enough for Roomba to run on an automatic schedule. Yes, I could do it quicker, but there are so many other things on my list that it's easier to just have Roomba get it. We have a lot of cats and a lot of tiny pine needles tracked in from the yard, Roomba helps keep it under control.
  13. I've used a Diva since after DS1 was born but, mmmmmm, not quite sure what you're asking. Never had any problems with air.
  14. I'm using the green HWT Pre-K book with my 4 year old.
  15. I just recently had a pulmonary embolism, with no DVTs or genetic clotting factors (that we have been able to find so far). That means that for me, estrogen HRT is off the table when the time comes (as well as estrogen-containing birth control now), so when the time comes I'll be miserable and raging with SparklyUnicorn.
  16. I have a 40 oz Hydroflask and I love it! I got the flip top straw lid and haven't had any problems with it leaking. No condensation and it kept the water cold (with some ice left) even when I accidentally left it in my car overnight. Love it!
  17. There was a horrible attempt at frying chicken that ended up with the pan nearly ruined and a CSI & arson investigator would have been needed to identify the chicken parts. My southern great-grandmothers were rolling over in their graves, I'm sure. Some other dinner gone horribly wrong, I don't remember what the attempted main dish was but it was at least 5 years ago and DS1 still talks about the time we had to throw the pan away (broiler pan, in this case) and go to Taco Bell. DH was at sea for both of these incidents. He's an excellent cook and people enjoy eating what he cooks, neither of those can be said about me.
  18. Sign me up for a bottom bunk, looks like that's all we have left.
  19. My father left the Christian faith in his early 20s and raised me without religious beliefs. I'm an atheist that celebrates Pagan holidays, DH is an agnostic (was never raised in the Christian faith other than the occasional forced trip to church as a child), and we are raising our children the same.
  20. Another vote for a shelter cat! I went to look at one listed at a local shelter back in the fall (yes, I'm a crazy cat lady with many cats) because we were looking for a Maine Coon mix. (You can interpret "looking for" to mean DH said he wouldn't mind yet another cat if it were a Maine Coon.) I went to see the little guy who was a bit shy but playful, and was practically adopted by his littermate. She was so outgoing and friendly, kept climbing all over me and wouldn't leave me alone. Needless to say I came home with both of them (Lilo & Stitch) and getting them both together was a great choice. They're both very social and friendly, and Lilo loves to go outside on a leash with the kids. Plus like a PP said, they can tussle with each other and not bother my older cats or scratch up my sofa.
  21. I tried to double major but ran into course scheduling difficulties my junior and senior year. Both departments were small (Physics and Nuclear Engineering) and both departments like morning course, not too early but not too close to lunch. There were course conflicts in required courses so I was only able to fully complete one major. I'm glad I took the courses in the 2nd major, though, as I ended up getting a job in that field and the background was helpful in getting the initial interview and completing my training.
  22. I would love to know this too. My 4 year old has apraxia and is in speech therapy, his receptive language is fine. I'm ordered Bear Necessities for my 6 year old DD1 who needs a bit of a different approach with phonics & reading, I'm not sure if I'm just going to go through it much slower for DS2 or try Bearing Away.
  23. My DD1 (8) has abdominal migraines, along with classic migraines. It took me forever to figure out what was causing her stomach pain.
  24. I was wondering the same thing! I just ordered on Wednesday so I'll have a while to wait.
  25. I wear an amber necklace just because I like it, but never noticed any affects on my chronic migraines.
