  1. Hey Rosie, Do you do Cursive before printing there?? Like the previous person said... Writing Road to Reading and SWR do clocks for the letters.... like... start at 2 o'clock... etc.. Carrie
  2. Get a special set of Beeswax crayons? (available at sites like Waldorf and Montesorri) Much better for people who like "real". Ask the teacher if son can practice "writing" on the sheet.(if he's ready) Also, make sure that he is obeying and that THAT isn't the real frustration of the teacher. Carrie
  3. Well, ok... I was just "asking" but I'm pretty sure they are... The Reformed Pastor in town uses their materials, and some won't use it... because the "Reformed" parts of the curriculum leak through:-) Also, SongsforSaplings.com has great Q&A which are from a catechism book. The book is OOP but the songs come with the written out questions. These are JUST GREAT! My son just listens in the car... and knows about 70 Questions and answers from the catechism off this... Carrie
  4. I think it's Queen of Peace or something that I've heard of... besides MP. Also, Seton has some good things for Henle... If you're using Ecclesiastical pronunciation... they have a reading of the Henle book. Yay! Carrie
  5. You know... for my last book to be spiraled cost less than $4. Might be worth it if you want to have it more like "a book". I just looked at this.. thanks to you.. it's great:-) Thanks!! Carrie
  6. We usually pick a time and go through quite a few.... at once. Carrie:-)
  7. Well, "Math Made Meaningful"..... I'd love to hear more about Living Math... so... that's what I'd hope. Greg Tang... Cindy Neuschwander.... Living Math (the Julie stuff.... from the Living Math group....) Julie has a Math program that coincides with SOTW..... and I'd love to see that. Maybe you could have some of the Living Math type curricula available? Carrie:-) PS>>> if you get in touch with them now, perhaps they'd send you samples?
  8. I think if you add the gel pen/pens and put the stickers in there.... very cool! Carrie
  9. I'd say "Chill" :-) The girl is 6. Course... I'm not the serious with kids who are 6 kinda person. Does she like princesses? Look up one to study about... Cooking?? double and a half a recipe... (you'll be surprised what they can understand)... Cooking the dinner? have her practice writing the menu... Even though my daughter is older.... on Friday... I just told her... find out about one of the meals you like... List 5 things about history... that happened around the time that the meal may have been "developed". Write down your favorite recipe for what you investigated... ETC... Carrie:-) PS. My son likes skip counting, jumping off things.... memorizing poems... etc.... (he's 6). Sure, he might not be doing everything else that other kids do... but he's doing things that will help him..... (he learned to multiply with the help of his sister...)
  10. Hey There, I was an innocent, never had sex till much older.... 16 yr old when I found "The Joy of Christian S*x" or something like that.... at a lady's house... where I was babysitting. It was on the table... and I remember looking through... being fascinated by it. WOW so many different pics... I'm not totally sure that it's something that will turn into an addiction. I think it's time for a "purity of mind" putting herself in the right thinking for a pure future... and such... I'm not sure that I'd freak out.... I'm sure I'd be upset. I'm sure I'd talk about it.... and hugs.... Sorry you're going through it... Carrie
  11. It took me about 3 months to stop hearing "when are we getting another one....?? I just finally said "Never". It's not happening.... Use the oven or the toaster... Carrie:-)
  12. IS there anyone else that would like just the cd for LFC? I'm thinking maybe just the LFC A and LFC B cd.... If you would... would you pm me??
  13. My mom grinds her flour and makes bread. I think that when she just figured out the price, it's about .80 a loaf. If you use a fresh egg... the cost would go up a bit. I've thought of doing the 5 minute bread for dinners and such... Make... keep and then just pull off a dinner sized portion.... Carrie
  14. I wanted a Cursive First with the kinda letters that you write inside of... like Cheerful Cursive's.... I use it with WRTR and I found that Modern Cursive on the Startwrite is almost exactly the same. You just have to tell the child how to write the letters for it to look the same.... (like you would anyway) I went through and made sheets for all the sheets that Cursive First had... and it's great. I also made them a bit larger.... but not large enough that he's "drawing" the letter. Carrie:-)
  15. Wow, My goal is to have a self cleaning house. Until then, the 17 yr old is responsible to do all the laundry, as far as folding and putting away. She also throws in laundry when she's "folding and putting away." I figure that if she's going to live here thru Community College, it's a chore she can do on her own time. She also helps with dinner dishes each night. 14 year old helps with 6 year old's toys... and does things like clean the back room (familyish room) or front room... 11 year old empties the dishwasher almost each time.... Loads with a few pouts... sometimes... And, can clean the bathrooms in a "tidy" up fashion. 6 year old can obey. Pick up such and such toys... (all your stuffed animals...) or tinker toys... etc.. I know someone with 7 children, oldest 8, who has their children do a multitude of daily chores. Popping in Laundry, folding, putting in front of the spot where it needs to go, straightening, rooms cleaned... beds made... (and sheets, too... when it's needed) She has a morning chore chart and an m&m on each chore for when it's done... (Or at least something like that) Carrie:-)
  16. That's cool Erica. SO, for a summer art class, what does that cost?? Carrie

  18. I always think about the fact that trouble runs in numbers.... I'm a bit concerned about unwise decisions, that they normally wouldn't make, like shoplifting. If you're with a shoplifter, you can be guilty, too. I'd be ok with my 17 yr old and my 14 yr old. and probably my 11 and 17 yr old.... I guess I'm lucky that my 17 yr old doesn't drive... Carrie
  19. I think Pam was kinda being sarcastic.... because of the way people often spell it. She actually is very smart... and good at checking spelling.. I know her in IRL and.. she's a bit of a jokester:-) Carrie
  20. That has to be a cultural difference, as you mentioned before about training. There are bumper stickers all over here (and other advertisements...) about... this... like "friends don't tie their friends to trees" and stuff. I don't know one person who ties up their dog. In fact, I know of few dogs who live outside... They usually live with "their people" inside.. or wherever their owners are. Carrie:-)
