  1. Beautiful name! Not sure I'd want "ho" as a nickname though :( Just a thought..... Not trying to rain on anyone's parade! :)
  2. Get what you can change... in writing... do a video walk through... with a paper :) when you start renting... and finish renting :)
  3. Hey DianneR :) I think I may have called someone about background checking behind you? Wish you wanted to join our co-op... course I have no idea if you're close... but we're excited to start it this year. We do have HS kids :) Anyway... Welcome! :)
  4. I Have the Golden Children's Bible and wonder if anyone knows of activities or a program to go with it. Basically it just goes from one Bible story to the next, according to the order of the regular (protestant) Bible. Any ideas? Thanks!
  5. I have to say, that not allowing sleepovers is each family's decision. But, it is one that makes others feel untrusted and jilted. Everyone has reasons for their decision, and all of them are without the need to be justified, but..... I loved sleepovers... and they are part of the great memories I have. I think it's like everything else that you do, it's a "one step" at a time thing. I mean... just like you're saying they don't allow their girls to move out till married... and you think that's a bit odd.... your kids will do "sleep overs" when they are a certain age... even if it's not till they move out. I have had friends who say no to sleepovers... and I have always thought it odd... and like... if something is going to happen... things could go wrong while I'm driving (a wreck... not even <hopefully> my fault... or the pool.... It's another chance at going wrong... but more likely more of a chance of going right.... Just my thought...
  6. For ease when they are sucking... thumb or fingers... for ease of ridding and giving to them when you want them to stop screaming... paci :) My son continually sucked his paci... or me... for a LONGGGGG time ;)
  7. I would assume that the person had desired for their funeral message to incorporate their faith, with the hope that "unsaved" loved ones would turn to a relationship with God, so that eternity would be spent together... with God :) That's my take... anyway... but I understand what you're thinking :)
  8. That's not fair... we have no Chick-Fil-A restaurants around here. I like the chx sandwich with the pickles ;) Yum!!
  9. This is one reason I'm doing a co-op this coming year. I want to do SOTW and Science projects/experiments... on a weekly basis :) YAY... because everyone will depend on me... My children will have more fun & hands on learning! YAY ;)
  10. I have a family member who was hung for being a horse thief... or something like that... not near as cool, I suppose;)
  11. Well, some I ride with, drive so close I feel as though our car will flip over theirs... waiting for the other car to move... :(
  12. My dad just sent an article about a patch for those allergic to peanuts, too..
  13. http://www.vermontnutfree.com/ This spot has great chocolate! They also have great "m&ms" and also anything else you can imagine..... (yummy jelly beans, too!!) You can get the chocolate melts and make your own suckers.... but buying the Santas might be worth it.... YUM!!!
  14. How about Ellery :) I have a niece named Ellery... and met cute girls named Ellery and Lyla today :)
  15. Hey Everyone!! We are SOOO excited about our Homeschool Co-op; we've done a few "Info Mtgs" and are now just doing small ones. We are having a small one tomorrow, Monday at 10am. We also will do them for families with Jr High/Highschool on a "request one" type Mtg :) We do have a few spots for families with children in the younger grades, although we have enough for a nice sized co-op, right now :) If you'd like more information, check out our website, or just give me an email or phone call. We also have a Facebook Page for Trivium Cooperative Academy, and would love to have you "like" us..... We really want to serve families in our area. Thanks!!
  16. Honestly, it's a drastic change, and I wouldn't expect my kids to have a radically different diet. I have added things to my son's limited list like good salad, differently cooked chicken, organic free range eggs, etc... but totally changing is a bit much... at an older age.
  17. I mentioned nails, because this keeps down on (possible) scratches... and the poor pups will be so sad.....would rather have their nails trimmed than be left out... :)
  18. Well, my real instinct is to say "yes" if they have money to have their dogs nails trimmed every three/four weeks,(whatever is recommended to keep them really short... ) or if they are REALLY diligent to do the nails themselves. I would prefer well kept animals, to kids... any day! Kids can do serious damage inside, and you kinda have to let them in.... What I would ask is that if they aren't going to be home... more than say enough time to go get the mail, that they kennel them. That's when it seems naughty dogs get busy :)
  19. Emelia :) Amelia ;) I am so confused! Which one do you call "Ella"? My daughter,if I had it to do again, would be Michaela, nicknamed... Caley... or Kaylee or Kaylie... or whatever... I don't really care for "Izzie"... but I love Isabelle ;) Michaella? or Michaelle? Michayla? ;) That's tough!! ;)
  20. In the case of this, I would have said, "Oops sorry. What's your child's BD, because if not by grade... we do age." Easy... peasy... ;)
  21. I love it... I like it for a totally different reason than TWTM... in my thoughts... they should both be read... and they are the 2 most important books to read ;)
  22. But see, here's the difference... it's a bit of the whole "difference of terms".... You catechize your children, right? You are constantly saying "Jesus died for your sins".... "Jesus wants you to believe in him"... and more... (ok, these aren't direct catechism quotes...) And some point, even if they can't remember a date and time... they take these as their own... they mentally accept that Jesus died for them... and that they... sinners who would be separated from God... are welcome to believe in Him.... and come to a realization ... even if it's NOT a "prayer of salvation" as you're commenting.... that this is true... and there's some kind of acceptance.. MORE than just a confirmation experience... Ok... so... some of the Catholics I know... actually were cradle Catholics... left... had an "experience" and then became a practicing Catholic again... :) I'm done... fine... I'll accept that on here... Catholics and Protestants can't have agree on this... Nighty Night :)
  23. Yes, at the Lutheran church my children did VBS at.. some college aged leaders ... during the time of a Children's Program shouted... God is a real cool guy!! That was for sure NOT a cool statement! :( Personal as you can go directly to God :)
