  1. Any shredded cheese I've bought at Costco is treated with natamycin, a mold inhibitor.
  2. Yes. It is the berries soaked in vodka for weeks/months. I sometimes will add a cinnamon stick, star anise, whole allspice. I get my recipe here. https://deeprootsathome.com/its-elderberry-time-making-cough-syrup-and-tincture/
  3. I make a tincture and use 1 tsp/hour when I start feeling sick. I used to force my family to take it but they don't like it so instead they watch me get better within 24 hours and they suffer for days. Whatever.
  4. If it hadn't changed to that darker, see-through color I would still use it.
  5. I bring my potato salad as that's what the people want.😂 but I don't eat at potlucks outside of a family dinner where everyone contributes.
  6. Do you have a World Market? You could find plenty there. They have a section with minis of all kinds of things. Oops. Didn't read far enough. Sorry.
  7. I said ds has never met him but that was me misspeaking. The dad was around when he was born and saw him a few times after he was born before he turned one. Ds does not remember him I'm guessing he has seen pictures through the years, but I'm also thinking one would know their child, especially if he expected us and was looking out.
  8. I'm not much for caring what others bring, even if it doesn't match my theme. I tell them the main course and let them decide. I'm pretty easygoing but I can see how it might be annoying.
  9. Long story. I'll try to make it short. We went to an annual Christmas party for ds' heritage community. We go every year and connect with his grandparents, aunts, etc. DS, 10, has never met his father and he has never shown up at this party in the 8 years we have gone. Within one minute of us arriving today someone calls his name and says, "I'm your dad." DS was visibly stunned and said hi. He was freaked out and didn't say much. His father sat by us and talked to him a little. We were stunned, too, obviously. I would have no problem with him meeting but would have liked some notice and time to prepare ds. There was absolutely no awareness on the guy's part that this was a big deal. I'm already going over what I should have said and honestly, I still haven't figured that out. Literally last night, in anticipation of today, ds asked if I thought his dad would ever come to this party and we talked about possibly meeting him someday. What I want to know is how to help ds through this. What do I watch for? This feels huge and although ds is acting as usual right now, I am not downplaying how monumental this could be in his life.
  10. Ugh. I think that's the cauliflower I ate last night. I will check when I get home. I hope I'm wrong.
  11. We got a puppy 3 months ago and yes, at first she needed to go our every 20-30 minutes. That's a big ask.
  12. I can see some value in the program but Christmas is not the time to encourage it. Many of those end up right back at the shelter.
  13. Unfortunately around here the shelters have a free day or low-cost day before Christmas. It makes me angry.
  14. No. I was surprised. I've only done the beef liver so far.
  15. Stewart Pro-treat. Just freeze dried meat. We are training our puppy with them and I had set a dish of them on the table. They disappeared and it wasn't the dog. Lol I find them at Target. Edit: The chunks are easily broken or cut with a knife to make them smaller.
  16. Oh, yes! We had that happen a couple of times, too. They are junk, really.
  17. Yikes. The kids kept telling me that I kept buying rotten milk lol. It wasn't keeping temperature. We defrosted it completely for several days and lived out of ice chests. Plugged it back in and have gotten three more months out of it so far. The ice in the vents is back but so far it's staying cold. For the cost of this thing we should have gotten more than 4 years out of it.
  18. We switched to fake tree last year since DD has bad allergies. Dh complained then and this year, too, when we took it out. He's the one who look like a tree is more important than his daughter's comfort so I just ignore it. 😅
  19. Following. We have a Samsung french door that is going to go any minute now. The vents in the back of the fridge keep icing over.
  20. We just switched to World's Best Cat Litter after using Dr. Elsey's. Much happier with it. It was an abrupt switch and the cats did fine with it. It clumps.
  21. Thought of another one. Dip, as in "gotta dip" (leave)
  22. "Thicc with 2 c's" Tea for gossip Bread for money
