  1. You might be cycling again if one or more meds has stopped working for you :-( Ds has gone through this twice. Even changed doctors as one doc simply kept increasing the dosage of the med that was no longer working! New doc. weaned off it and tried a couple others, one at a time, to find a new drug "right" for ds. New doc also noticed first doc had DS taking one med at bedtime that should have been in the morning - no wonder he had insomnia! Sleep improved when the one med was changed to morning rather than bedtime!!!!!
  2. Just to add, some kids get nauseated and upchuck too with strep. That was one of the usual symptoms for a couple of mine (all four kids had strep over and over and over until one had his tonsils out - he had been our "carrier". Had one kid go right into scarlet fever before our doctor appointment - he had not seemed that ill so I wasted a day or two not thinking "strep".
  3. Has the doc tried you on Depakote as a preventative? That worked for ds.
  4. I think it is enjoyable enough as a stand-alone, for $3. Plus Jeff Goldblum is funny! Note going in to see it, bear in mind Loki (Thor's adopted brother) is a trickster.......
  5. My neighbor, about 70 and also suffering from Parkinson's dropped dead Thursday evening as they were in the grocery store....PE. My fear is the ER rushed you out since most ERs and hospitals are swamped by all the flu cases. Would a MAN presenting with the chest pain symptoms be told to go home, it is "anxiety"? The heavy bleeding may or may not have anything to do with a PE...but it may be another reason you aren't being further tested for a PE (oh, she simply has female issues poor thing). At least keep checking in here as you know we are going to be fretting all weekend about you.
  6. Keep us posted! Maybe insurance will be easier to deal with since you DID try Urgent Care first....and it is UC that is sending you on to ER. Call your OB/GYN and keep their office updated that UC has sent you to ER.
  7. Have someone drive you to ER TODAY. Far better safe than sorry.
  8. Another vote for Ratty here. DS had one. It was friendly and he enjoyed it. But check with neighbor first - would caring for a rat creep her out? If there anyone else who could take the cage and be a rat-sitter? Otherwise fostering sounds good, as long as he won't get too attached. Our local shelter is always looking for foster families. Foster "failures" are when the person ends up adopting the fostered pet himself (they like this kind of "failure" and I suspect it is one of the reasons for the fostering program. If they can get that furry friend in a house odds are it will too hard to not adopt).
  9. As long as you have plenty of books, art and craft supplies, etc available they can figure it out themselves (boredom is good for a kid). If you don't mind the mess let them bake something from scratch. If they expect YOU to provide entertainment or tell them what to do, offer CHORES. By all means, do NOT turn on the tv or allow iPad/phone media zombie time. No one has to be 100% busy/entertained 100% of the time. Daydreaming itself is great!!!
  10. Debra Cora, er, Kora ;-) Chl.., er, Khloe Phoebe Piper Paige (I knew a Paige in elementary school) I do like Scarlett
  11. So, so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter.
  12. You definitely need to be seen, not just a phone consult. Call your OB and tell them you are going to ER and WHY. They may want to either meet you there or call the ER and ask to be kept informed. And be driven - you are possibly too light-headed from blood loss to drive safely now.
  13. I had the opposite happen once - IRS, back when I was a lowly grad student, sent me a letter stating I owed (if I recall correctly) $!4,500. That year I had EARNED $14,500. 100% taxed :-0 I called right away, and luckily got an IRS employee having a good day who laughed WITH me (rather than at me) and fixed it.
  14. The one reason for keeping all prescriptions at one place, though, is they can catch if there may be a bad combo of meds. Otherwise just make sure your doc knows ALL other meds you are on when he/she prescribes a new one, and if you shop around and use a new pharmacy, make sure to ask the pharmacist there is New Med has any contraindications with Med A, B, or C you are already on (from a different pharmacy). I love our Osco, I swear some of the women behind the counter have been there the 24+ years we have used the place. Bummer BCBS raised our co-pays this year.
  15. Bread flour has more gluten and will work better with home-made bread.
  16. Our new kitty, 8 months old now, is into q-tips and parkour.   I have never had to remove and/or secure so many items that might otherwise fall and break before!  I built her a kitty house out of three sturdy Amazon boxes, with passageways and windows and dangling things....and turned around to find her on top of the computer stand* amidst all of hubby's precious Cubs beer mugs.  Which are now living somewhere safer :-)   *I have two different former entertainment centers in the dining room now, the one with doors holds all our files and cd/records, the other had the doors removed and holds the computer and now an adventuresome cat instead of a zillion beer mugs.   Oh, and another wall has my late MIL's long nine-drawer bedroom dresser, since it was quality wood and hubby did not want to let one of the kids have it.  He has filled each drawer with legal papers he will never look at again now.   kitty loves to walk across this dresser and eye the table we are trying to keep her off.  why did all my attempts at typing E T C turn into nbsp: ?????
  17. What they said, but if it gets redder or spreads go in and get checked.
  18. Some cats do, some cats don't. Oh, and we have a Lab. - the cat's dry food is in a dish in the far side of a large clear plastic container, lid on, and a opening for Kitty cut into the side. She can jump in, eat in peace, and leave knowing Captain can not get to her food. I remove lid to refill bowl.
  19. Geology. At least he will come away with more knowledge about the planet on which he lives. Back in the day, I was able to take semester courses of Astronomy and Conceptual Physics (for the non-math major) as my two requirements (besides the mandatory year of Bio as a freshman). A fun, enthusiastic instructor can make all the difference, too.
  20. Hope it is a mild case and you rebound quickly...but not too quickly. As in give yourself time to recover (ah, the temptation to return to SuperMom mode once we feel on the mend) lest you suffer a relapse. Sending Kleenex/Tylenol/chicken soup and Popsicle thoughts your way.
  21. Yup, use the opportunity to not only see the condo, but to get a feel for the real estate agent and if you like them, fill them in on what you are looking for, price range, etc., so they can keep an eye out for you if anything appropriate comes on the market.
  22. Kid sister found out her job is moving them to Raleigh sometime this spring or summer - would Cary be close commute to downtownish Raleigh? I do not have the address of her new job yet...
