Because I still have a couple of tender lymph glands in my neck they have canceled their end of the surgery. It is too long of a surgery to risk it, she said. I'll have to reschedule. Now I'm waiting to hear if the breast surgeon will go ahead with his end of the surgery. She said he might since his end is only a couple of hours. If not I'll have to reschedule that too. I hope he will go ahead with his end. I need to get this part over with. Know that the cancer is gone. Make sure it has not spread. Either way, this means I will NOT be able to have immediate reconstruction with my mastectomy. I'll have to do that later. No bOOks for me for awhile. How very depressing and demoralizing. I'm just sick. So I'm on pins and needles waiting for the phone call to tell me that all is canceled or that we are on for DEconstructing Rhonda. I'm praying they will go ahead with part 1 of the surgery, so you can get it over and done. G5052 Posted January 21, 2009 Share Posted January 21, 2009 The surgeon doing the reconstruction had to go out of town suddenly (his MIL died), and there wasn't time to bring in someone else. My friend said that at least the "big surgery" (in terms of health) got done, even if it was emotionally hard for her to wait to be "curvy" again. Focus on that.
