ProudGrandma
last night at about 7:30 I removed 5 two pound tubes of ground beef from the freezer. I stood them upright in a container and placed them on my countertop to start thawing. This morning at 5:30 I realized that I forgot to put them in fridge when I went to bed. The tops of the tubes were completely thawed a slightly cool and the bottoms were still quite cold, even partially frozen. At that point I put them in the fridge...but what would you do now? trash them....or use them? I am inclined to throw them...food poisoning is not fun. I am kicking myself big time. My grand plan was to brown it all, put in one pound packages and refreeze for later use. Edited December 6, 2016 by NEprairiemom
xixstar
We probably would. But we are often on the more extreme end of willing to eat things.
The Girls' Mom
I would still use them, especially if they weren't warm.
Schadenfreude
What do you have your heater set to? I would use them, but we keep our house at 64. Since they were completely frozen when you took them out they wouldn't have time to come up and stay up at a dangerous temp in a cold house. ProudGrandma
temp in house is set to 68, but our kitchen tends to be colder...and it was REALLY cold outside last night....19 when we woke this morning.
scholastica
Definitely use them.
kiana
Personally yes but I would definitely cook them through and not use them for (say) a medium-rare burger, but more cottage pie or unstuffed cabbage or something.
VaKim
Agree with others. I'd cook them really thoroughly and freeze them, like you planned. The only way I probably wouldn't is if it had been marked down because of the date when I bought them.
BarbecueMom
I'm germophobic and food poisoning phobic (like, "I don't eat fresh veggies I didn't prepare myself and no poultry" phobic) and I'd definitely use it.
Kassia
I would toss them, but I'm super careful about food.
DawnM
Cook them up, cook a little more than usual, and eat them. No problem.
J-rap
I would use them. Cook it up very hot, and freeze what you won't eat right away.

ILiveInFlipFlops
I'd use them, but I'd find a way to use the completely thawed stuff today, and then I'd feel comfortable cooking and refreezing the part that was still cold, maybe a little frozen.
