Um_2_4
So last night I boiled some hard boiled eggs, rinsed them and placed in a metal mixing bowl full of cold water. Then forgot and left it sitting on the counter in front of an opened window(pretty cool here last night). It was still cold to the touch (probably colder than when I went to bed). They smell fine. Google results are mixed.... So eat or toss????
Miss Peregrine
I would keep them. It gets pretty chilly here at night.
fraidycat
Eat. We leave our colored easter eggs out.
kiana
In the water might be iffy. I would peel them and smell them. If they smelled fine I would eat them anyway.
Mergath
Assuming they don't smell bad, I'd eat them.
Um_2_4
Well, Thanks guys. 92% say eat and that was my gut feeling since they smelled ok. I think the sites saying "no" are more from govt sites, companies, etc. So I think it is more a CYA type of thing with them.
Southern Ivy
Eat. The standard for backpacking/camping is that they can be kept unrefrigerated for a week. (BLECH!) So, I'd say overnight is going to be ok.
gingersmom
I'm not going to risk food poisoning for a $1 worth of eggs. Anything in question gets tossed in my house.
Twolittleboys
Definitely eat. I believe the custom of boiled Easter eggs evolved partly so the eggs wouldn't spoil during lent. Anyway, here in Europe UNCOOKED eggs are sold unrefridgerated in stores and are kept like this for over a week. I realize eggs are somehow processed in the US so spoil easier but hard-boiled eggs kept comparatively cool for one night should definitely be okay. regentrude
You can store hard boiled eggs for extended times at room temperature. Elsewhere in the world, even fresh eggs are stored at room temp and not refrigerated.
Amy in NH
We store our fresh eggs on the counter for a week or even two if the weather is cool.
mamaraby
I'm not going to risk food poisoning for a $1 worth of eggs. Anything in question gets tossed in my house. Ditto. I despise GI stuff. There's no way it'd be worth that risk to me.

I'd eat raw eggs that had sat out in a cool house, no problem. Wouldn't necessarily eat hard-boiled ones, though.
HSmomof2
Since they are hard-boiled and still in their shell, they should be ok. I would throw out any that have cracks in the shell.
Mommy_of_4
I would eat them.
