EthiopianFood
I would say I don't do nearly as much as I should. :glare::tongue_smilie: If I DID, then I would "make" it.
Spy Car
Either "make" dinner or "prepare" a meal. Never "fix" dinner. Never even heard "fix" used that way. Bill
ssavings
I usually "fix" dinner. Occasionally "make" or "cook". Never "prepare".

Element
I generally say, "No, you cannot have a snack. I am making dinner right now!" :D I will also say that I have to prepare a meal for somebody. :iagree: Every. single. meal. No one is hungry until I go into the kitchen to make dinner. Ruby Rose
I'm fixing to go to the store and buy groceries so I can fix dinner. Sometimes I say making dinner also. I'm obviously Southern!

Ibbygirl
If you are talking about what you do for your family in the evening, what would you say? I'd say, "I'm fixin' to make dinner." :D
Melissa in Australia
If you are talking about what you do for your family in the evening, what would you say? I don't use any of those expressions. I am cooking. I might say I haven't started cooking yet, or I am cooking tea right now ( yes we do call it tea instead of dinner here) Edited July 14, 2012 by melissaL

Laura Corin
I make it. Some of my American in-laws talk about fixing food, but that sounds to me as if it is broken and needs repairs. Laura
