Ottakee
We are moving to a house that has a washer and gas dryer. I have a newer front loader with match dryer. I was thinking of taking out the older washer and then stacking my front loading set and leaving the gas dryer. It would make laundry go so much faster having 2 dryers as the washer washes faster than the dryer dries. We would have to add a 220 plug for the electric dryer. What do you think? 2 dryers or just my newer set?
usetoschool
If I had the room - in a heartbeat, absolutely. My only question is venting the second dryer.
Desert Rat
If you have the room, I would definitely keep both. It might be tough venting both though.
Ottakee
I will have the room as I can stack my set so no more room taken than normal and the laundry room is about 8x10 with some cabinets, etc. I would have to see about venting though. Good point.
chai
My front loader dryer dries the clothes so much more quickly than my old one that it keeps up with the washer. I vote only having one new one.
Ottakee
My front loader though does a large load in 28 minutes and the dryer takes quite a bit longer which is my delay.
Endorphins
We have DH, me, and our two 8 year old boys. Our front loaders take care of it all in good time, so I'd have to say no for me. I would use the extra space for a laundry folding table, drying rack, or install some storage cabinets.
kidsnbooks8
I had/have the front loaders and we have 2 dryers and we are so very happy that we do!:) I say go for it.
mom4him
Personally I would keep both washers. :D I line dry almost all of my clothes. I put them in the dryer just long enough to warm them up and help remove wrinkles and have wooden drying wracks that I use. My one dryer could keep up pretty easily with the two washers though and WOW could I go through our laundry fast.
MyBlueLobsters
If I had the space and proper venting, I would in a heartbeat!

I hang all our clothes (with a few exceptions like baby clothes) so I'd have no use for 2 dryers. 2 washers though? :drool5: *swoon*

They dryer never holds my up because we line dry, also. But, oh, to have 2 washers! :001_smile:
lcelmer
I would make a way, come hell or high water, to KEEP BOTH SETS! But I have laundry issues, every time I get a week behind, it takes a month to dig my way out again..... One of my favorite laundry experiences was using a laundromat when on vacation. It was empty, so I was able to do all 5 loads at once. AMAZING!!! I was caught up in one day, not weeks...

SonshineLearner
I'd have a set of both!! It'd be great... you could do towels in one side... and the the quickers on the other. Nice idea!!
Ottakee
I do have the option of keeping BOTH sets if I wanted as there are washer and dryer hook ups in the basement. Problem is, that would mean me going back to lugging clothes up and down the steps which I want to avoid :-) Hanging clothes isn't a good option where we live in the woods as all kinds of "stuff" blows/drops on the clothes but possibly if we get enough trees out at our new place. The laundry room does have cabinets and a walk in closet already.
justasque
You're in Michigan? Both sets. You can get the wash done in half the time. All that "we've been out in the snow" wash. All that "it's muddy out there" wash. Half the time.
Cinder
If it's a feasible option and it would make your life easier, why would you *not* do it? I say go for it!
Mommy22alyns
I personally wouldn't because we rarely use our dryer. Almost all of our clothing gets hung to dry.
ktgrok
I use cloth diapers, so I would keep both washers, not both dryers. Top loading washers do SO MUCH better when it comes to cloth diapers. Front loaders don't have enough water to really rinse/clean them.
Quiver0f10
I would love 2 washers and 2 dryers.
