Spy Car
O captain, my captain? :tongue_smilie: I wasn't even conceived for a large part of the 80s so the movies I like from the 80s are all ones that have stood a decent amount of time, lol. I'm surprised at how many I recognize from various lists here. Some more for you :tongue_smilie: Adventures of Baron Munchausen Under the Volcano (depressing-alcohol content :D) Prizzi's Honor Au Revoir Les Infants Camille Claudelle Distant Voices, Still Lives Bill (born in the late 50s ;))
Spy Car
 Yes, that sounds like something I could get into! Off topic for a sec. Did you go see Buffalo Springfield? My mom caught them in LA, we took the kids up to Santa Barbara to see them. :001_wub: Drug Store Cowboy, I forgot about that one. Great Movie..... I think... like I said, when you haven't watched these in a decade or two, it's hard to tell. :001_smile: I didn't even know there was a Buffalo Springfield concert. I would have love that. Dana
Broadcast News Broadcast News is interesting to watch now because you really see how much the ways we get our news have changed. I think Moonstruck holds up well. Princess Bride holds up well. Goonies is more questionable but still pretty fun. Major League holds a special place in my heart since it was the movie my husband and I saw on our first date. :D

JumpedIntoTheDeepEndFirst
Bill and Jenny in Atl have named just about everything I could think of--- of course I then had to go and look up Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Animal House. Somehow in my mind they were from the early 80s--ooops. The 80s seemed to bring lots of Merchant Ivory films to popular viewing--thank goodness. sparrow
I just thought of two classic 80's horror movies: Fright Night and An American Werewolf in London I was never a slasher movie fan, but I love classic horror! They're remaking Fright Night and the trailer I saw doesn't look too bad.
LittleIzumi
Some more for you :tongue_smilie: Adventures of Baron Munchausen Under the Volcano (depressing-alcohol content :D) Prizzi's Honor Au Revoir Les Infants Camille Claudelle Distant Voices, Still Lives Bill (born in the late 50s ;)) My dad's still cool enough to hang out with :tongue_smilie:, and he's right around there. (With a kid in school still, as well.) ETA: He can probably still beat me in a race & kill me at mountain biking, too. I can't keep up with him. Luckily now I have a lot more movies to watch while he's out biking to work or something crazy like that, lol.... A few more... Jean de Florette That one was lovely. The sequel, Manon De Sources, just rips out my heart though. :crying: They are beautifully done but I don't like rewatching movies that are so gut-wrenching and then make me want to throw things at the screen half the time, lol. It's too hard on me . Edited June 12, 2011 by LittleIzumi

Dani n Monies Mom
Coming to America with Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall I got my 15yo hooked on Grease, Grease 2 and especially Footloose, which was my all time favorite movie as a preteen. I really like Das Boot too, ShoGun (or was that earlier) About a year ago my dd's favorite movie was Glory. Fun list.:001_smile:
JustGin
Thanks to Netflix I've wasted another evening on a cheesy '80s movie. My husband picked Highlander then fell asleep, I stayed up and watched it. :tongue_smilie:Funny.... I don't remember it being soooooo awful (yes, I was there to see it when it came out). So, have you recently re-watched an '80s movie and though it was still good/great after all these years? :lurk5: The Karate Kid and Back to the Future are two that are still favorites around here. Susan C.
Passage to India Bill Thanks Bill! Its LONG, but it looks great. Blockbuster has this deal going right now, we will get one free movie from the middle section (no new releases or just in) every day (if we go every day) until July 4th. All you have to do is rent a movie, then you get a free one every day. You have to return it in one day, or its $.99 a day. We are watching Breakfast at Tiffany's tomorrow, and I'm making a list of what to get next. And Bill, I'm right behind you :glare:

Pink Fairy
Pretty in Pink and Top Gun were two of my teenage faves, but I recently saw Sixteen Candles and was disturbed at some of what was passed off as normal (or at least okay). Remember Jake and the Geek talking about Caroline? "I've got Caroline in the bedroom right now, passed out cold. I could violate her ten different ways if I wanted to." Creepy. :ack2:
