West Coast Mom
Better World Books is fabulous. They offer free shipping and my orders arrive quickly. I once ordered a used Kingfisher Encyclopedia for $4 and when it went out of stock, they sent me a new one. Their customer service is excellent. LBS
can find a book, DVD or cd-rom on Amazon listed as something else, by entering the title, parts of the title, names of secondary authors, and sometimes it will be listed more cheaply. With so many used sellers shipping 2-day Prime, for prices less than the $3.99 shipping, even, and I live in the country, and love to get mail, so I see my UPS man or get a book in the mailbox several times a week! Addicted. Second place I check is www.fetchbook.info Others I've searched on but not used are www.bigwords.com and recently looking for some British published items found the USA and UK Book Depository. I like Fetchbook a lot, it searches a lot of booksellers at one time, but you have to follow the links. Sometimes they are not the right edition, etc. If its homeschool related, www.homeschoolclassifieds.com and www.vegsource.com are good. The Vegsource search engine is not so great, so I search for "___________ at Vegsource.com" and get hits, using Google. Good luck, LBS Oh, yeah! Post # 10. www.half.com I forgot! I just bought textbooks for two college kids, couple from sellers off Half. Edited January 28, 2011 by LBS
Swirl
At their B&M store they have a 40% off sale during Feb. & Aug. I'm not sure if that applies to online purchases though. http://www.shopredeemed.com/

Jeanne in MN
I often check http://www.bestwebbuys.com/books/ first as it compares a number of used book sites including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Alibris, Half.com, etc. With the sites below I can at least get combined shipping, which can help a lot. However, Seashell is a little slow in shipping. It took a good two weeks for my books to arrive. http://www.oncesoldtales.com/ http://www.seashellbooks.com/childrens-books-s4/

KidsHappen
I have had the best luck at Amazon. I have 25 books on my wish list on PBS and they have been there for awhile. All of them are available on Amazon. I don't know that I have ever looked for anything I wasn't able to find there. I guess I would try Alibris for a hard to find book or maybe Folletts if it was a text.

Violet Crown
bookfinder "The Google of used books" It's a meta-searcher, and it searches many of the sites others have listed, in addition to small booksellers without much (or any) web presence.
