  1. I tried using the code for Missouri that we used for the test, but could never get it to work. I tried the generic code of 970000, it took it, and filled in the blank with Missouri Home School for me. Maybe it found Missouri with my zip.
  2. BIG :grouphug: for you and your DS!! On July 26th my DS broke his radius and ulna- but it was just in one wrist. At urgent care they put it in a two-part splint up to his shoulder. (They were really scared about that radius break too.) But when we went to the Dr. a few days later, they took the top part of the splint off and he only wore the bottom part in a sling for 5 more weeks. The Dr. did tell us that a radius break can be a problem. He said that about one in twenty people will need surgery to correct problems in that area. He was supposed to get a cast for the last 5 weeks, but when we went back, the Dr. just put it into a brace instead. DS was thrilled, but I was really uncomfortable with that. He finally got his brace taken off Oct. 3, but he's still not totally back to normal. It's been a LONG two months.
  3. I'm getting some new Thirty-One baseball bags and we are are trying to choose some Latin mottos for the sides. The one DS likes is Seize the Game! DS said that translated it would be Carpe Ludum! We need to come up with one more. I thought maybe Refuse to Lose! But DS wasn't sure how to translate that. Recusa something??? Any Latin experts out there willing to help us please?
  4. Yes. When I go to week 26 and click on the Georgia archive pages I get an authorization error. If I have DE should I be able to see these pages?
  5. Could someone answer a couple if questions for me please? It's Labor Day and TOG is closed. I'm trying to access the archived book pages on the book updates chart for year 2, but it won't let me. I have DE for year 2. I should have access to these right? Am I looking in the wrong place? Also, I'm going to buy year 3 print only with the Loom on CD used. Will I have access to these archives and updates pages as the second owner?
  6. I finally got them all color coded and put in order. Each deck now has 32 cards with all the top stripes the same. The only strange one is the Elijah deck. I can't figure it out. It goes: #71 solid purple stripe at the top Joash escapes Murder #71 purple stripe at the top #10 green stripe underneath it Israel and Judah Fall (I'm thinking this should be #74???????) #72 solid purple strip at the top Jonah and the Great Fish #73 Hezekiah Trusts the Lord #74 MISSING #75 purple stripe at the top #11 green stripe underneath it Prophets of God
  7. Oh, thank you so much! I see what I did on the first set. I mixed some of the history set in with the Bible set. Now that's fixed. :) But I still can't figure out what going on with the last set. (Elijah) I have a #71 purple stripe top and another #71 purple top with a green stripe underneath. Why two #71 cards? Plus I am missing the #74 card. Should one of these #71's be the #74? I can't have mixed these up with the history cards, my history cards don't go up to the 70's. Can anyone tell me what their #71 and #74 cards say? Or maybe have a link like those above that lists the cards in this set?
  8. Can some who has this complete set PM please? I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing cards or not. They have numbers at the top and numbers at the bottom. Some have two numbers at the top. I have questions on two sets: Creation Genesis 1-2 Elijah Destroys the Prophets of Baal I Kings 18 Thanks so much!
  9. I've paid close to retail for used- but only at this time of year when I've needed something quickly and not wanted to wait two weeks for the big homeschool company to get around to shipping it. I knew to avoid Rainbow at this time of year, and now I can put Sonlight on my list too. They still haven't processed my order from the 19th for $18 worth of math workbooks. If I had ordered them from that guy on ebay, I would have had them by now. :glare:
  10. When I originally posted it was midnight and I was about to tackle the book room. I say book "room" because book "shelf" just no longer applies. :D I thought I would keep any from the UG, Dialectic, and Rhetoric lists. We do several things with them. We read them for fun or as sources for information when we do reports. Sometimes we use them instead of a pimary resource book we have already read, and didn't like, and would die if we had to read again. :D We have a used bookstore that has a HUGE homeschool section. They are dirt cheap and twice a year have a 40% off sale where they practically give stuff away. That is why I have a book "room" and not a book "shelf". At one time, I had the primary and alternate lists printed off for all 4 levels of Dialectic and I would check this bookstore periodically for titles. (They also have most of their inventory online now, which makes it easy.) I know I've bought several books, but I didn't color code them like I did for Sonlight. Now I have no idea what goes with what. We carried five big boxes of books out to the car last night and now I'll have store credit.
  11. We are going to do TOG 3 (Dialectic) this year, but have 3 more weeks of TOG 2 from last year to finish up first. :tongue_smilie: I've been looking for it used, and hopefully will find a set in the next couple of weeks. ;) But in the meantime, I've been gathering my books. BUT I can't seem to find the list of alternate resources for year 3 on their website. I printed off the primary one, but for the life of me cannot locate the alternate one. I know it was once there, I remember printing it off once. I use the one for Dialectic and Upper Grammar. Does anyone know? Am I just looking on the wrong page or do they not have it anymore? I know I can call them tomorrow, but does anyone have the answer for me tonight, so that I can stop searching? :D
  12. This is what my 4th grader is going to do this year also. (She has already done Prima Latina.) I bought the Kindle version, and then went to their website and downloaded the free 132 mp3 lesson commentaries and the pronunciation guide. I then loaded all of these as audio files onto my Kindle... all for $9.99.
  13. It's called Easy Timeline Creator. http://www.timelinecreator.com/home.htm They have it at Rainbow Resources for $23.95. I also like the fact that you just load it onto your computer one time and from then on just click the icon on your desktop- no taking the disk in and out every time.
  14. We used them, but after a few years ran out of room on some of our pages. The Renaissance quickly became a big jumbled mess. When I switched to TOG for my oldest child, I bought some timeline software and LOVE it. I wish I had used it all along. It would have been much cheaper too.
  15. Have you looked at Growing with Grammar, Winning with Writing, and Soaring with Spelling and Vocabulary? http://www.growingwithgrammar.com/index.html Both of my DC have used these at different times through the years. I've done WWE and FLL with my DD the last two years. I really like FLL, but WWE... I just don't feel the love.
  16. Home Decorator's Collection Outlet has some of the best prices I've ever seen. I've bought several large wool rugs from them. Their prices and inventory fluctuate, so keep checking back with them. There are often online coupon codes out there for them too. http://www.homedecorators.com/Rugs/S/OutletRugs/
  17. I wouldn't glory in it just yet. The shortened thing went along fine for me for a few months. Then it came to a point where it would only last for about a day and half or so, and then suddenly stop. After about a week it would start again- and with a vengeance. For some reason though, for the last three months I've gone back to totally normal.
  18. I do this all the time, but instead of vinegar I use lemon juice. Works best with whole milk though.
  19. The secret is baking them at a really high temperature. I bake mine at 490 degress for 9 minutes. 2 cups flour 1/4 cup butter (plus another 1/4 c. or so for brushing on tops) 1 T. baking powder 1/2 t. salt 1 cup buttermilk Wisk flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in butter. Add buttermilk and stir. Roll out on flowered surface. Cut 1 inch thick with a 2 1/2 inch cutter. Makes 9. (*Important- If you make more than 9 you are rolling them too thin and they won't be near as good.) Spray baking sheet with pam. Brush tops with butter. This is the secret- Bake 490 degrees for 9 minutes. Brush tops again with butter.
