mycalling
Statue of Joseph Stalin goes up in Virginia Joseph Stalin will be included in a local monument honoring our fallen heroes from the invasion of Normandy.:001_huh: I had to check this out a few times before I could accept this is real. Dandelion
Wow... How could anyone think that this is honoring to our fallen heroes from the invasion of Normandy (presumably the intent of this monument)? I understand he was our "ally" in WWII, but to include him in the monument is outrageous. Either someone is very, very ignorant - or worse yet, they actually think this is a good idea... :001_huh:
Chris in VA
And THIS is why I teach history. Honestly, un-bee-leeeve-able.
jewellsmommy
Bizarre! I am terribly disheartened to see this, especially in my own state! I would love to hear the thought process on this one. It has got to be more then "our ally in WWII".

TravelingChris
I am so angry about this. Stalin imprisoned my parents (Allies) during WWII until he joined the Allied side.

Guest Virginia Dawn
Statue of Joseph Stalin goes up in Virginia:001_huh: I had to check this out a few times before I could accept this is real. I am flabbergasted, but not as much as I would have been a year or two ago. I recently read that the "cult of Stalin" is being revived in Russia. Now, I was really surprised when the Empire State Building was lit up in red and yellow to honor the 60th anniversary of the communist revolution in China. Insanity reigns. momto5blessings
many millions of deaths. And shame on those in Va for not raising an outcry against it. (Maybe there is still time for that). Wonder how they snuck this on people. Peace, Pamela
