Weight Watchers? Why not just count calories?
momto5blessings replied to CrispyBiscuit's topic in The Chat Board
Hi there, I just joined WW last week. I love the program. The reason food is assigned a point value is because calories are not equal. It depends on carbs, protein, fat, etc. It really does teach you how to eat healthier. I suspect that after I am in it long enough that it will be easier, as far as counting points. They have nifty, inexpensive books that can help you with your calculations without looking at each individual component of an item. There is one called Shop which I use to look up tons of stuff, Eat Out with tons of restaurants and menu items, Power Foods, etc. I am not very technical, so I chose the book route. But if you have a smartphone, you just log in and can look up stuff online which is probably quicker than using the book, but I just got a smartphone a month ago, and I am not ready for that, lol. I also love attending meetings. It really helps and I am learning a lot about nutrition. You really can eat as much of the power foods (fruits, veg, etc.) and I, who have never been much of a fruit or veggie eater, have even been incorporating some of this into my meals. Hope this helps you some. Pamela BTW I lost 3.8 pounds my first week. I am so excited, and I have not been hungry much at all. -

We are going to try and incorporate smoothies into our diet. I don't have a fancy blender, just an immersion blender. It is a good brand (Breville). Any ideas for a good book for me to get to get started? Thanks so much!

Anyone have one? Worth the price?

A father to be very, VERY proud of. . .
momto5blessings replied to Orthodox6's topic in The Chat Board
Not meant to be a tactic. I guess it would have been better to say we have no right to judge Armenia and this woman, given what the vast majority of women here choose. -

Why are we being so hard on this woman and Armenia,as though we are somehow better than them? Here in the U.S. only 6,000 children a year are born with DS. The other 92 PERCENT are aborted before they have a chance to draw their first breath. That's a staggering amount of mothers who choose to murder their children. We have no right to judge anyone in my opinion. -
I am looking for a homeschool group in NC. I prefer a group that is more low key, with field trips and opportunities for kids to meet for times at the park, etc. and other fun activities. What group fits that? Any suggestions? Thanks so much Pamela

[quotqe name=seekinghim45" post="6112224" timestamp="1420330959] I've gained 30 pounds since starting Lexapro at the beginning of October. I've gained 50 plus pounds on Lexapro and Zyprexa. It really socks but I need these meds.

The thing that makes me sick about this whole "interview"? The fact that the Pakistani doctor who enabled them to pin-point Bin Laden's whereabouts languishes in a Pakistan prison cell with no thank you, no ticket out of the country for his service to us. Wrong on so many levels. I wish I could link articles about what this wonderful doctor did to make it possible for us to find him, but I don't know how to do that.

I've tried on here, and Vegsource, but I am not getting any interest. And it is good things like Heart of Dakota and SOTW. I've priced it really low, and I don't understand! It has been a really long time since I have sold curriculum and so I am thinking I just don't know where the good places are to post. Thanks for helping! Pamela

My dear, Please see a doctor quickly so that this can be dealt with. This is not normal anxiety, and if left untreated can lead to more complicated issues. Blessings, Pamela

I've taken it for 4 years, and it works wonders for me as well. I do have one unpleasant side effect, and that is unusual dreams. Blessings, Pamela

Early onset dementia and BTDT advice please
momto5blessings replied to MrsBasil's topic in The Chat Board
I am so sorry. Your symptoms sound similar to those with my father. In particular, the balance issues, clumsiness and loss of speech along with the memory issues. My father was found to have Lewy-Bodies Dementia which is dementia that has Parkinson's like symptoms. Please look into this as well, as it is a bit different in presentation than just dementia. I am praying for your family. Pamela -
Is anyone here familiar with anxiety disorders?
momto5blessings replied to Greta's topic in The Chat Board
Hi Greta, I have an anxiety disorder (actually a mood disorder WITH an anxiety disorder) and my symptoms didn't show up until I was 42. It runs in my family, too. What you are describing does sound like it could be anxiety related. Many times anxiety manifests at night, too. I know what you mean about a "loop" of thoughts too. Also, waking up like you are describing does not sound normal to me. Maybe anxiety has been an issue for awhile, and it is just manifesting more seriously now? My biggest regret is that I did not seek treatment for my anxiety when it was starting to manifest itself. Because I waited, a mild anxiety problem turned into much more. Also I regret that I went to a regular MD, who didn't understand the complexities of anxiety disorders and their treatment. I recommend you see a Psychiatrist. They are trained specifically in this area. They know so much better the complex details of the medications and their side effects, how to prescribe, etc. I hope you feel better soon, Greta. You will be amazed at how much they can do to treat and help anxiety. Hugs to you, Pamela -
GED info for a pen pal friend in prison
momto5blessings replied to Momto6inIN's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Also, another thought- here where I am (NC) some of the community colleges offer a program for adult students where they earn their GED through them. And I think I have even heard that some of the CC's offer a GED/AA degree together. I really hope you are able to find some good information!
