  1. Turn off/disable the sleep setting. That usually works for us. It is a very common problem on computers.
  2. Sounds like bronchitis. Head back to the clinic. I'll bet your lungs are worse now. When I had bronchitis, they gave me a steroid and a nebulizer treatment and some medicine that didn't work, so I had to call and get something else, which turned out to be prescription cough syrup which was great. Definitely go back and see a doctor.
  3. Just to camp for a few days. Not on a plane. My motto, though, is Don't trust anyone. We found out where they would stop to eat on the way to camp. We said she shouldn't even enter ChikFilA (They fry everything in peanut oil) but the pizza place was okay (we have non life threatening milk and egg allergies), any crust pepperoni no cheese. And I sent food with her. Frozen food in an insulated bag which went straight into the camp's freezer and fridge. These days, I would probably send Lunchables instead of frozen food just because they're a little easier and she didn't like much of the frozen food but was stuck with it anyway. The camp claimed they would have salad available every meal. Didn't happen. And from past experiences, kitchen staff can't necessarily be trusted to know ingredients or understand how to read labels properly. Best of luck. Hopefully someone will chime in with more input. I really don't know how to manage a wheat allergy.
  4. What about private school substituting or teaching? Do you have any nearby? They don't generally required certification, and they would be thrilled to have someone with a master's. Yes, the pay is probably not as good as at public, but it is employment and a nice job for a resume.
  5. Is he techy? My dh loves Leo Laporte, the Tech Guy. And TWIT, This Week in Tech, which maybe is the same thing. They talk about computers and phones and stuff like that. Techy stuff.
  6. In my state, it seems that a half credit of Speech is generally required, in addition to 4 high school credits of English. So in my case, I would track hours that he spent on Speech Club, and once he reached 60 hours, I would award half a credit. That might take all year.
  7. For dinner, we decide the day before what dinner will be. On Monday, we decide Tuesday's dinner and get things out to thaw and put them in the fridge. That solves the "What do I want to make for dinner?" problem when we're tired or not in the mood. We also tend to make enough food for two or three dinners at a time. For instance, we will buy a large pack of italian sausage and my husband will cook them all. Then we freeze them in threes (there are three of us). So when we decide that it will be spaghetti tomorrow, we get out already cooked sausage and just needed sauce and noodles. And sometimes, we have extra sauce and cooked noodles in the freezer, too. Or he will make multiple hamburger patties at a time. Super easy for future days. We always have hamburger buns in the freezer. Heat up some fries or open a can of baked beans, and there's dinner.
  8. No. I had no career ambitions. I have always wanted to stay home with my kid.
  9. Boatilus? BOATILUS DUCKY rain boots , they also have a specific shape for the foot of the baby or child with raised massaging nodules on the anatomical insole. Easy to pull on thanks to their handles, and easy to remove using the hell cleat! Extremely lightweight, they have an anti-slip sole with a true anti-shock for optimal comfort and safety. Scented with a non-toxic food essence, they can be washed in the blink of an eye under the tap. Manufactured in Italy without phthalates, phenols and without latex, they are 100% recyclable
  10. I have an Alcok. It was about $40 on amazon and it uses k-cups.
  11. It would be too much for my family, but only you can decide if it's too much for you. Currently, I have a 17yo dd. Our activities look like this: Wed: My dd teaches 3rd graders for 2 hrs (church program) Sun: Sunday School 1 hr, Puppet Practice 2.5 hours, occasional youth group 1-2 hr But, that said, my dd does do stuff with my dh in the evenings. He is her Chemistry teacher and Drivers Ed teacher plus they play tennis at least once a week and go to the gym at least once a week to treadmill. Saturdays usually something with her bff. But we are homebodies and introverts.
  12. All classes will be at home with my 12th grader next year. We, tentatively, will be using Mathusee Precalculus Holt Physics Abeka Vocab, Grammar and Composition, plus book selections primarily from American literature to correspond with US History US History (Hakim?) World Geography (home grown) Economics (and Personal Finance with Dave Ramsey) Office Computer Skills (Word and Excel for sure)
  13. My dd chose our local university over our local community college when she walked around campus and heard that they have a lot of cats. Plus, the second we entered the Performing Arts building, she said, "I'm going here." She is not a performer. But the building was very beautiful, as is much of the campus quite frankly. The CC is run-down and in a not-so-nice part of town. Nice buildings and facilities matter.
  14. The nausea is part of my experience with peri. Ginger ale helps and mints or spearmint leaves. Plus bland food. It goes off and on in its intensity. For awhile, I couldn't deal with smells either, and no cumin in anything. YMMV It reminds me a lot of pregnancy nausea, but not. TMI, perhaps, but brushing my teeth now is constant gagging. I hate it. And I'm on low dose bcp, so my hormones are as regulated as they're going to be. And I only had hot flashes at night when a medication was interfering with my bcp, so I'm no help there. ((hugs))
  15. I just called them "fake gods" and my dd understood. It really wasn't a problem, and those stories are important to know about, culturally.
  16. A word to the wise on the Vera Bradley crossbody bags: Pay attention to what the strap is made of. Mine is not the nice quilted fabric, mine is more of a tough almost seat-belt-esque fabric, and it rubbed my neck so bad that I stopped using the bag. So pay attention to the strap before you order. If it's a solid color, steer clear, as that seems to be the yucky material.
  17. Schreiner is a small liberal arts college in Kerrville, not too far from S.A. I don't know much about it but I do know someone that goes there and loves it. It's a beautiful area.
  18. If you are prone to motion sickness (me), they might not work for you. After I got them, I would get nauseated rocking in the rocking chair. I went back to some old glasses. I plan on getting two pairs next time, if that's possible, one for driving and watching tv and life, and one pair for reading. (I don't think I would do well with bifocals either.)
  19. I would pick up MUS Algebra where you left off. Or maybe even go back to the beginning of it. You can easily do Geometry and Algebra 2 at the same time, so you don't have to worry about messing up your math sequence. (Note: We actually did Geometry and the second half of Algebra at the same time, and it's worked fine. But we did end up taking two years to get through both Algebra 1 and Geometry. So our math sequence looked like this: 9th grade: Algebra 1 10th grade: Algebra 1 and Geometry 11th grade: Geometry and Algebra 2 12th grade: Precalculus Best of luck!
  20. Gently, I think you were just having sensory overload. That is a fairly typical 2 year old's party.
  21. If all you need is literary terms to feel like it wouldn't be a problem for your dd, there is a wonderful workbook called Figuratively Speaking that covers them all.
  22. We use Mathusee Geometry, but I supplement with this stuff from Lakeshore Learning: Build and Learn Geometric Shapes Kit Giant Magnetic Geometry Shapes Geoboard Angles Hands On Measurement Center Build and Learn Area and Perimeter Kit Geometric Foam Shapes Tangrams Build and Learn Volume Kit From Amazon: Learning Resources Wood Geometric Shapes Helix 6 inch 360 Degree Folding Protractor And yes, it cost a fortune. Totally worth it.
