  1. Prayers for you. I understand. I was in your place not that long ago. For me personally, I am so thankful that I heeded God's call and converted to Catholicism. The peace I have now is worth any negative reactions that I have faced. Thankfully my husband (who is still Southern Baptist) was and is supportive, although he does ask questions from time to time. My immediate family reacted much better than I expected, as my parents are Southern Baptists and that's how I was raised. There have been a few Protestant friends who have said negative things, but I've simply answered with truth spoken as lovingly as possible. That's been enough to quiet them and have the subject quickly changed. Two of my dearest Protestant friends were there for my first Holy Communion to celebrate with me, as was my husband and my children. I was quite terrified of the potential fallout that might occur when people "found out" about my conversion, but it hasn't been nearly as scary as I'd anticipated. I pray that it will be the same for you.
  2. I might be teaching a high school co-op class on Mythology. I'd like to have one book for Greek Mythology and one for Roman mythology that each student would purchase to read at home. We would meet once a week for discussion and activities. I'd also like to know what books you all suggest, as well as other teacher resources, such as activities and discussion guides. Thanks!

  4. I've had experience with both. For the ages of your children, I'd go with GTG.
  5. I'm a recent convert to Catholicism. I was raised Southern Baptist. I understand how "scary" it is to start this journey. I'll be praying for you. I see that someone recommended Rome Sweet Home by Scott Hahn. I also recommend that. It's one of the first books I read when I began to feel a pull toward Catholicism. Also, I would recommend another book of his: The Lamb's Supper - it is about the Mass. If you have any more questions, please feel free to PM me.
  6. OK. I am happy that an SEC school is the national champion. Still won't say it, though. ;)
  7. I live in Alabama. My husband is a HUGE Alabama fan. He will utter that phrase for you. I was born in Mississippi & I'm a HUGE Mississippi State fan. I refuse to say "Ro-- T-d-."
  8. Here are a few pictures of my daughter's princess birthday party that we had in 2012: http://freeindeed-redkitchen.blogspot.com/2012/03/happy-birthday-to-sweet-baby-girl.html
  9. :hurray: Congratulations!!! I'm glad that all is well. Happy new year indeed!
  10. I'm in the same boat. I've struggled with insomnia since I was in elementary school. Add to that the fact that my special needs daughter has nights of waking in the wee hours of the morning - such as around 2:00 a.m.
  11. Breaking Bad is one of the most amazing shows ever. I finished the series this past summer. It is brilliant.
  12. Awesome! I just started using your Biology curriculum with my 9th grader after a big miss with Apologia.
  13. These are awesome ideas! I taught a Harry Potter themed unit to my middle schoolers last year. We had a blast!
  14. I have a pixie and I love it!!! My bangs are longer than JLC's, but my sides and back are very short. Also, my hair is reddish brown - I color it. My cut is similar to Ginnifer Goodwin's here: http://hairstyles.thehairstyler.com/hairstyle_views/left_view_images/3830/original/Ginnifer-Goodwin.jpg I like that it's quick and easy to style. Plus, with the longer bangs and hair on top of my head I can wear headbands and barrettes or switch up my style easily. That way I don't feel like I'm in a rut.
  15. I collect nutcrackers. They make me very happy. :) I add one or two to my collection each Christmas. Sometimes I buy them myself and sometimes I'm given one as a gift. One of the highlights of my Christmas decorating is when I get to display my collection of nutcrackers.
  16. I'm glad things got better for you, Garga.
  17. I do almost all of them. I live in Alabama. I'm Catholic. The only things I don't do are a birthday cake or party for Jesus, Christmas crackers or a live tree, although I am considering a live tree for next Christmas. :)
  18. Chop green onions & black olives and mix into cream cheese. Spread on tortillas and then roll the tortillas up and chop them into small "pinwheels." Cocktail wieners with barbecue sauce Stuffed mushrooms
