  1. Glad you figured out what it is. Hope you get relief!
  2. My dad had episodes like that, he needed bypass surgery, several arteries were over 90% blocked. PLEASE GO NOW and don't drive yourself. You are going to give US a panic attack if you don't go. Three episodes Jann! Again, please go to ER. If it is nothing we will celebrate. If it is we will be glad you went.
  3. WIG!!!! Says the blonde haired woman who got a demi over two years ago..... and it is still there..... there was just a teeny bit of red (for auburn) and oh my did that stick.
  4. I have read more than a few instances of women having less symptoms as yours having had a heart attack. The arm going numb is what concerns me, that is NOT panic attack. Please either call an ambulance or get a friend to take you to be checked out. In your situation, I wouldn't be able to go to sleep until I knew I was fine. If you had a mild one, you may need treatment and to know if your heart is damaged.
  5. Its my understanding that with high blood pressure, baby is delivered. The health of mom is more important than it being med. free. You can still go and support her, so head on over. You can still be her advocate, and double check what meds they may give, and up to your comfort level, be there for the birth.
  6. I'm hoping you are at the hospital. Heart attacks are very different in women. You need to be driven there and be seen asap.
  7. Growing up, neighbors kept bees. Evidently they ended up with an extra queen (his wording was he had queen troubles), so while in my backyard (behind theirs) I found a very large group of bees clumped together on a branch. It was over a few feet long and the branch of the bush was pulled almost to the ground. The guy did come over in his bee suit and smoked them and they went back to his house.
  8. I have young adult kids. We don't do a lot for Christmas, its habit from past lean years and it stuck. Some ideas I have from gifts given to my ds are gift cards to his favorite hang out places, such as movies and restaurants. On years he requests cash, I wrap things he needs for example, socks, a cheap dvd he likes, etc. Last year he wanted a tv for his room, he put up other gift money (grandparent sends money), we sale shopped, and got a sweet deal, so was happy that was all he got (I did wrap a few cheap things so he could unwrap presents). Most years, we set a budget, and dc load up my Amazon cart with things they want (usually books, CDs, DVDs), they know most of what they are getting with a few surprises, but this way I know they are getting things they like. None of us like getting "stuff" for the sake of getting it. It just clutters up the house.
  9. We roasted them whole for the first time last year. It was like eating wood chips. So other: shelled pepitas, store bought.
  10. Here is a link to a blog by a professor at Abilene Christian, I have enjoyed a few of his posts, if this is in line with what your friends are looking for, maybe he would be a good contact: http://experimentaltheology.blogspot.com/
  11. You don't have to tell the vet you went somewhere else for a second opinion. Our chinchilla was very sick (years ago, and he has passed). It took me going onto two forums, and writing to an expert (who showed xrays and information to another expert) to accurately diagnose him. Neither vet did, and continued to treat, and our chin was miserable with no possible cure and needed to be put down. I'm not saying to put your dog down. Just that vets don't always know the answers.
  12. I bet you already know what items you don't want anymore, just let your dh gather it up and take it to Goodwill. Park on the couch and point and tell him what to get, then the bed in each room. I can't lift very heavy things, that is how I deal. Constant bending and stooping will not be good for you. And hire cleaning help, in both locations if you need it. I'm so happy for you that you are moving to a place you want to be!
  13. Congratulations! And please be careful, it hasn't been that long since your surgery. Better to bring junk with you than to hurt yourself throwing away stuff (and deciding what can go).
  14. Get your local library's access code to their online content.
  15. I am in the process of rebuilding a diet that is gluten/most grain and dairy free. But I eat meat. I would not make it without meat. But you may not have my metabolism. Also if you eat grains without trouble, that will give you filler, but beware, grains are carbs. So you might want to keep in the back of your mind the possibility of eating humanely treated (I think that is the term) meat IF you find you need to. I say that lightly, and am aware of the ethical issue. But I feel terrible without meat, so I try to get organic, hormone free, etc. and it is difficult to in my small town. To start, build an ingredient list of what you can eat and go from there. You are going to need fat in your diet. That will make you feel full (not overly) and keep you from snacking (probably with carbs). My family eats a good amount of fat, and we are all thin, in fact, dh has lost 40 lbs. eating this way, but almost no grains (because the cook isn't cooking them, but he gets them here and there on his own) and no dairy is what did this. I would suggest starting with coconut oil (refined to fry with, unrefined to bake with), full fat coconut milk (canned, no other ingredients except guar gum, or homemade), good quality olive oil (don't fry with it, add it to veggies, salads etc.), nut butters, avocados. I am purposely leaving butter, animal fats (lard, tallow), cream, and cheeses out since you are vegan. I read a lot of blogs, MinimalistBaker.com and Tasty-Yummies.com have a lot of vegan recipes, so see if you like those. It would help to make something in the crock pot that will last either a few days, or feed you for lunch and dinner (or dinner and breakfast). I would suggest making smoothies for breakfast (I have a blendtec) with two fats, one either almond or coconut milk, the other either a nut butter or avocado. I use raw cacao, it covers the avocado flavor. I don't know if you can have a whole banana, I sweeten with that and some grade B maple syrup. But I can handle it without the syrup and just the banana, although it may take a few days to adjust to lower sugar. It really tastes good once you are adjusted to less sweetener. And a chocolate milkshake for breakfast! You could even add protein powder, we like Garden of Life "Raw Protein" and "Raw Meal" and they are vegan (no whey). We like vanilla flavor. I use the vegan label to get away from dairy. Also, a great snack is a baked sweet potato with coconut oil. YUM. Cut up browned in oven butternut squash (or cauliflower) brushed with olive oil, salt and pepper, YUM. Steamed cabbage put in a bowl with olive oil, salt and pepper, yum. A taco salad with quinoa subbed for the meat is very good as well. The same for tortilla soup. The rinsed quinoa cooks quickly. I do use chicken broth, but you can sub vegetable broth. I would make it though (very easy) so you don't get the MSG. I did find an instant with clean ingredients at a Whole Foods, it is Seitenbacher brand "Vegetarian Vegetable Broth and Seasoning." Also, a great cheese substitute is Bragg's Nutritional Yeast. HTH
  16. I got a new dishwasher last November. No mold, but it never is dry in there. Also, we went out of town for a few days, and ran it right before we left, when we came back, everything inside was slimey. I was told it was normal and to get a rinse aid. New energy requirements. I did change to liquid dw det. with bleach in it, it helps with the odor.
  17. We don't limit salt, and use Real Salt. Yummy and has trace minerals.
  18. Another vote for Bradley method. It was so effective with #2 that we barely made it to the hospital. I was able to relax and sleep the night before, then the next morning took care of ds, fed him, even ate (!!), took a shower, then called the doctor's office and said to tell the doc to not go golfing, just in case (LOL). I was in hard labor and didn't know it.... arrived at the hospital dilated at 9 (and things really got going in the car ride there).
  19. Dd got auras, they were geometric and she actually drew a picture of it the first time she got it.... then the migraine came. The headaches seemed to be triggered by hormones. When the aura would start, I would almost trip over myself making instant coffee (always have that on hand) and getting ibuprofen in her, the aura would give only a few minute warning. The sooner we got the coffee and med in her, the shorter the headache. She would ask me to press on her forehead, that made it better. Luckily she hasn't gotten one in a few years, and only got them a few times a year.
  20. Thanks for posting. I have already caught it for saying there are a few favorites we can't have, 3 of us are dairy free, 2 are wheat/some grains free. This will be our first Thanksgiving eating this way. And no, I will not cook two different ways.... I do always cook a cut down version since its just us four. Turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy (plan on using arrowroot starch), green beans w/mushrooms/leeks/panchetta (no change to this), stuffing (thinking about experimenting with gluten free quick bread to use), and sweet potato casserole (which has flour and tons of butter, I may cut up the sweet potatoes, season with cinnamon and coat with coconut oil, and serve them kind of crunchy). For dessert I'm thinking apple cobbler and pumpkin pie made with coconut milk. The Kindle book also has new things to try. OP don't cheat.... I ate oats at the end of last week, and am still paying for it.... After you are off gluten/grains for awhile, the reaction is much more. I also paid eating only a small sliver of a birthday cake.

  22. You don't need a Kindle, I don't have one. There is a Kindle app you can download to your computer and then use your computer as the Kindle. Her website/blog is at againstallgrain.com
  23. We just got a refurbished iMac on eBay, so far it is great. We used a top rated seller with free return shipping. I did find after I purchased it that for just a wee bit more, I could have had an Apple refurbished with Apple Care. I do prefer Apple Care. As it stands, we will need to get the warranty and have to use Geek Squad if anything goes wrong. Geek Squad (at last check) has to send macs out, where Apple stores repair in house.
  24. I just got this (Kindle) for $1.99, the recipes look great! I have made the author's recipes from her blog, they are all wonderful. http://www.amazon.com/Danielle-Walkers-Against-All-Grain-ebook/dp/B00GP34AWK/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1412558457&sr=1-2&keywords=thankful
  25. The guys clothes stink more! I use liquid Tide unscented for dd and my laundry, and powder Ultra Tide HE in my conventional washer for the guys. It rinses better than non HE and gets yard, sport, etc. clothes clean and they smell good. If the clothes are really nasty, I prewash, then add a little more soap and then run through a regular load (so wash, empty washer no rinse, wash, rinse).
