  1. Wait--- I am a home owner who is able to have a vacation AND someone I love take to care of things while I was away??? I would count my lucky stars and reflect on how lucky I am!
  2. Then maybe throttle it way down and crank it a few times. Open it up again when you get it running.
  3. You might need to choke it a little to get it going again.
  4. Keep in mind that you need to spend over $2500 per year to make the upgrade to the executive membership for Costco worthwhile.
  5. But I thought that part of the argument for the Paleo diet was that modern grains do not resemble ancient grains and, since they have been so modified, we have not evolved to properly digest them, and so we should avoid them. Certainly Egyptians were eating ancient grains, so does that imply that grains may always have been less than ideal as food? If that is the case, what about the whole "bread is the staff of life" stuff? I guess I am just confused and not wording it very well.....
  6. Has this already been discussed? Apparently, researchers have discovered that up to 1/3 of mummies had blocked arteries. I wonder why this would be? http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/03/10/mummies-heart-disease/1974215/
  7. My sister used to give her kids Cheese Whiz and Slim Jims....
  8. Since she is a friend you have had for a long time, I assume she was not always mean. Perhaps she is going through something that is making her feel ugly and she is lashing out, trying to make those she is in contact with feel the same--sort of "misery loves company," or "I don't love me so I will make it so that you don't either." If you valued the friendship in the past, it might be worthwhile to be a good friend yourself and try to see if she is having some difficulty.
  9. Have any of you figured out how much $$ per pound it ends up being?
  10. Thank you QuirkyKapers, that is well thought out. AK-Mom4: I guess I was going with the definition of power as "...the ability to produce an effect."
  11. Which do you think has more power: the spoken word, or the written word? Or do you think they are equal? Spoken words can stab or heal immediately, or their meaning can be changed in symantics or rhetoric or lost over time. Written words' meanings and definitions can be changed, too, but they have the attribute of being able to last throughout generations. Just a random question that popped into my head this morning. :001_smile:
  12. I doubt that it would make any difference what-so-ever. Might even be tastier.
  13. In spite of lack of barbeque sauce, many of our ancestors did the same thing.
  14. Cool! Thanks, ladies. I will be looking forward to them.
  15. I enjoy seeing the Social Groups pop up and I know there is a way to follow them, but would it be beneficial to make a sub category to The Chat Board for the Social Groups, sort of like the Special Needs Board is a sub of the Learning Challenges?
  16. I would not let the dog suffer one minute more than necessary. The timing is really crappy, but it can be a good lesson in compassion and selflessness for your kids.
  17. Wow--I am so glad you have this dilemma because now I know about a place called 'Baconfreak'!!! :drool5:
  18. Her hormones might be messed up. That could cause a lot of anger issues.
  19. I am 51 and don't like wearing anything with writing on mainly because I don't want people staring at my chest. My peeps are all in their 50's too, and their eyesight isn't the greatest any more, so they have to stare even longer to figure out what the shirt says.
  20. Wait until he acquires a chainsaw. My son was younger than 14 when he began using a chainsaw. Then, last year the neighbor gave him one with a 36" blade. Yep--a THREE FOOT long blade. He is 19 now and handles it very well. Used it to cut down an old silver maple in our yard. He had a lot of fun, but I was a wreck.
  21. I personally have never seen much structure with any kid that age--it's ike herding cats. I would keep him home. I would liken the environment to a sensory maelstrom--I can't see how it would benefit someone with sensory issues.
  22. OK--I am going to throw this out there, and you might think I am a kook, but have you looked into doing something alternative? NAET comes to mind. If you look it up on the internet, you might think it is totally voo-doo, but I know a lot of people who have had personal experience with it and it has helped them. NAET is a holistic way of clearing allergies.
