  1. I am either: 1. totally bored, or 2. have drunk too much home-made Kahlua, because this thread is spellbinding. Things I am pondering: I, too, am a Heidi and am not well endowed. 36A? I quit wearing bras. Hey--it's winter and I wear layers. Someone said something about boiling water and that reminded me that I would really like a cup of tea if I can tear myself away from this.... Someone else said something about bacon and that reminded me that I really wanted to make some more bacon jam. Mmmmm. See? Totally spellbinding.
  2. It really does not matter what everyone else's children are doing. You will never know what your kids are capable of unless you give them responsibility. Even if you don't think they can do something, they might surprise you.
  3. I just wanted to say the boots you linked to are beautiful! Unfortunately, I cannot help you--I just bought hunting boots: Irish Setter Snowclaw. I am not a fashionista by any stretch of the imagination and I'd rather be warm....
  4. Yes, I used coconut oil. I am going to try butter or ghee next.
  5. Exactly! It is good cold! Although I think the coconut taste comes through a bit more when it is cold. Not a problem for me but may be for others. It certainly is an interesting recipe. I have tried a lot of gluten free ones and have liked many of them, but this is definately one I will make again. Disclaimer: we are not an entirely gluten free family--I just don't think it wise for anyone to eat gluten (or anything) morning, noon, and night, day in and day out. Thanks again for sharing!
  6. Hey thanks for this! I just tried it and it is really good!
  7. Mindless entertainment I can't unwatch Sharknado
  8. There's a plot to this show? I never noticed since I only watch to see Tom Mison.....
  9. I want to be you in my next life. Do you know of a good B-complex? Mine apparently falls short. Thanks!
  10. They might even have a harvest gold washing machine!
  11. Misery loves company--you all are making me feel a lot better! 28 year old Maytag washer still chugging. 28 year old Whirpool dryer still chugging and getting more ambitious--it doesn't want to shut off. A pair of boots I owned for 25 years finally bit the dirt. 21 year old Suburban still going strong. In these things I find comfort.
  12. Is it just me??? It seems like everything I buy has some sort of problem. Doesn't seem to matter if it is Made in America or not. Doesn't seem to matter how much $$$ I spend. Please tell me I am not alone.....
  13. When I worked at an elementary school, there was a boy named 'Chealie.' I was informed that it was pronounced as "shay." He was and always will be chealie to me.
  14. Well, gosh, this has become interesting! We did that Presidential fitness thing, too, and we also had to just hang from the bar. I could hang longer than anyone but still could never do a pull-up. Someone mentioned using your back muscles more. I think that might be one of my problems. I have watched my sons do them and they definiately have a different form than I. I have done, and still do, core strength training, but maybe there are some that are better than others for pull-ups.... Off for more research!
  15. Thanks, ladies! Kerileanne99--you are my new idol! I have been doing negative chin-ups with extra weight on my ankles, but perhaps I need to do more. I can sorta kinda do a couple of chin-ups if I start with my feet on the floor. From a dead hang? No way. Oh well. It's good to have goals.
  16. Can you taller women do chin-ups or pull-ups? I consider myself pretty strong and yet cannot really do either of them. I read somewhere that taller women have a disadvantage. So....yes or no? For the record, I am 5'9". Not an Amazon, but taller than my peers.
  17. Have a bunch of your friends over. Give them each an outfit of your daughter's to wear.
  18. Crow like a rooster to get them up.
  19. I would love another Thanksgiving with either of my Grandmas if they were alive.
  20. Larger people know they are larger and whether or not they need two seats. If they cannot fit into the seat they purchased, they must purchase two. If they get on the plane and cannot fit, they are asked to leave. You are the one responsible and not the airline. You lie, you do not fly.
  21. Unfortunately, it is not just Sears. I bought a high end stove and ONE YEAR later they sent a replacement, after having sent over 50# of parts throughout the year to fix the old one. New one is not faultless, either. Made in USA. Yea quality craftmanship.
  22. I had really wanted porcelain tile for the longest time. I love the look and durablity. However, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and am getting older so was wondering about the wear and tear on my joints. Plus, I don't relish cleaning grout, it is cold underfoot, heavy, and labor intensive to install. My grandparents had cork and it was beautiful. However, furniture eventually left dents that would not come out. I am going to get rubber flooring. Specifically, Nora flooring. It is used in commercial applications, soft underfoot, easy to clean, and I can put "grout" lines in it. I was told that it will outlast my house, which is saying something since we overbuilt portions it.
