  1. Not snarky question: If we are made in His image, and we sin, does God sin?
  2. Big difference here, too. Husband had insisted for years that a very firm mattress was the way to go. But I got tired of waking to back pain. We tried memory foam, which I liked and he hated. The compromise was a sleep number type bed (Comfortaire) where he can set his side to whatever he wants. No more back pain for me.
  3. I don't know but I have always liked eating bread and butter pickles with Swiss cheese.
  4. It looks like 10 minutes is popular. We have a well and septic system also. One kid likes to hear the echo of his voice while in the shower and when he gets on a roll, he can be in there forever. Off to find a waterproof timer!
  5. How long do you spend in the shower? Assuming you are just washing, not shaving or anything? I am trying to set a reasonable limit for my boys.
  6. Hmmmm, I never put lemon juice in my strawberry jam... What is your recipe?
  7. I don't know if I really like the lyrics or not....I just really liked the message of the video and how well put together it was with all the different modes of dance.
  8. When I made a webpage, I bought a book HTML for Dummies, or something of that nature, and read the free sites out there. When I wrote the pages with the code, I used Notepad and saved them in a file with the .html format. Never had a problem.
  9. I like Taylor Swift's new music video, Shake It Off.
  10. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/20/anthony-carbajal-ice-bucket-challenge-als_n_5696085.html This video might change some opinions on the whole campaign. Watch it through to the end.
  11. Dense, tiny little boobs here, too. But, they are also saggy little things. Had an initial mammo and they were too dense to see anything. Got a call back for a more definitive mammo. They still couldn't tell. Had to go for an ultrasound and needle biopsy. Apparently, I have saggy little boobs of diamond and the doctor COULD NOT get the needle in. He switched to a lesser needle, was straddling me, sweat dripping from his brow, face red, muscles shaking from the effort and he finally got a sample. Reassured me that it was rare to puncture a lung in the process. Turned out to be nothing but they put a marker in for future reference. Then wanted to do ANOTHER mammo. Uhhh--no, I don't think so. I think I have had more than my share of radiation at that point.
  12. He might just be trying to pressure you. Leave him your offer just in case.
  13. I don't have a tiny house BODY. I don't think I would fit.
  14. Wine. Lots of wine. I really believe low carb helped me. I am through menopause and did not have many hot flashes, plus it seems easier to maintain a reasonable weight. I don't take any supplements for menopause, per se, but do take SAMe (for the benefits to joints), B-complex, D3, and magnesium.
  15. Confession: I have 3 chest freezers. One has a paper wasp nest in. Use the cold vodka for pie crust.
  16. You sound really dissatisfied with most aspects of your life. If it is not the life you want to live, you are the only one who can change it. You said leaving is "kind of impossible". Is it really impossible, or is the thought of it overwhelming since you are dealing with so much else?
  17. Ceiling fan Blades constantly spinning How does the dust cling?
  18. Empty house Why are the brownies so loud? AND HOW DO THEY KNOW MY NAME??? and: Your eyes rival mine. Am I the only one who uses toilet paper? What are yours?
  19. I would look for a place you WANT to live. Your kids are older--they won't be in school forever. It is likely you will be staying at your new home long after they are out of school. Plus, if the local schools really are terrible, there are supplementary educational resources you can always use at home. With all the excellent homeschooling/online learning resources there are now, I do not see any reason for one to expect the public schools, regardless of how good or bad they are, to be the only source of learning. If the public school I attended was the only source for the knowledge I have, I would still be woefully uneducated. Housing markets change. Economies crash. I would not look at resale as the only reason to buy a home. Kids stay in touch these days via texting or other social media so I would not necessarily worry about their friends, either. There are new friends to make wherever one is.
  20. Your sister is probably worried that you having your son with you will detract from all the fun you and she will be having together, what with you worrying about keeping him entertained. I would bring him with me and also think up things he can do while there to entertain himself and, perhaps help out your sister. Are there places he can walk to in the neighborhood? Book store/library/movie theater? Can he walk her dog/mow her yard/do the dishes/clean her house/cook/fix something? If she sees having him there as an asset, parhaps she would welcome him.
  21. If he receives special education services or occupational or physical therapy, I believe you can have it written in his IEP to be notified by a certain date.
  22. We had dinner at Chinese friends' home last night (thanks ladies for all the advice on my other thread!). The food was absolutely wonderful--the friend's parents have been staying with them for nearly a year and her mother did all the cooking. She said the dishes were very traditional Chinese foods. Nothing like what I have been exposed to in Chinese restaurants (no surprise there). Her mother must have spent all day cooking and our friend said she would be very happy if we took the leftovers with us, which we did. Hope that was the right thing to do... Anyway, we plan to have them over sometime. At one point during the evening we, of course, talked about traditional American food. I stammered around a bit and mentioned something about hamburgers...totally drawing a blank about what could be considered "traditional American", since it varies so much by region. So, what would you serve???? We live in the Midwest if that matters. Etiquette question: at one point I had to use the bathroom. We were padding about in our socks and she offered me slippers to use in the bathroom. I thought it was because the cat's box was in there and she thought I might be worried about cat hair on socks, but later thought maybe that it was proper to use slippers in the bathroom? I did not use them since I did not see my size 9 feet fitting into them but afterwards started fretting...
  23. You've hired a sitter before--have her watch DS5 while you are at the gym. I would not get a trampoline--just saw another news story about a kid who is now paralyzed from falling on his neck wrong. They had the padded one with the net, too.
