  4. Well. How about words that don't have a blend or digraph? Sam? Sun? Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  5. I think passports are only stamped when a tourist visa is required, which isn't the case between Canada and U.S Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Lol my first thought! I've been listening to too much Circe and Mason Jar.... :) Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  7. Lol! I didn't even realize how old this thread was! I was reading and liking every post. Thank you so much for bumping! I'm on the biggest CiRCE kick right now. Can't wait to spend my time going through this thread... Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  8. 6, 3 and 18 month old here. I read aloud during breakfast and lunch. One of mine does not stop talking. Ever. Even with a full mouth. So I take what I can get. :) I attempt two other short read alouds sessions if they end up at the table drawing/colouring, playing with playdough, or are just generally calm and quiet. 9. Charlie and the chocolate factory, Matilda, and BFG for Roald Dahl books. Another vote for Narnia series. My DS6 also liked Mary Poppins, Trumpet of the Swan, Charlotte's web, My Father's Dragon. Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  10. Yes, I read it a few years ago. Andrew Pudewa actually mentions it in his talks Teaching Boys and Other Kids Who's Rather Build Forts All Day. I found the case study he discusses on the remote aboriginal community in some northern region of Canada (or was it Alaska?) fascinating. The effects of commerce entering the area (women went to work at new grocery stores, taking away the men's main role as hunters) and the missionaries taking away the men's ritual houses (where culture was passed down where the elders taught the young men to be men) was interesting. I actually recommend this book to mother's of boys that I know! Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  11. Sovereign grace kids. Kids currently listening to I Want To Be Like Jesus. Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  12. Lol I nearly peed my pants reading this one. I'm seriously dying. Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  13. We changed our clocks yesterday afternoon. The kids unwittingly ate dinner, got ready for bed, and went to sleep 1 hour ahead of schedule.... And they didn't wake up any earlier than normal. Parental win! Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  14. I was thinking the same thing. Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  15. I was wondering what thread this was a spin-off from! Now I know why I couldn't recall the original... Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  16. Have you tried steam inhalation? Last month my sinuses were so bad. I couldn't taste or smell. It was so clogged my jaw and teeth were hurting. I started to do to put boiling water in a bowl with a towel over my head and it cleared me out. I did that as necessary for a few days and it cleared up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. What about those click it strollers? They are compatible with the most popular brands. I bought mine from Once Upon a Child for $40 bucks. FYI: they still have Classic Connect Gracos. I just bought one last year and still see my same model for sale. Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  18. Me too! I saw the "can", but read "the friend can", not "can the friend " Wierd! Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  19. Had to testify once at a drunk driver case. In a past life I was a lab technician at a trauma centre. They questioned us regarding the Chain of Custody of the sealed ethanol sample. Defense was trying to prove we did something wrong with the samples. Which they try to prove all the time, so we're used to that. Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  20. I just want to say that I'm really appreciating the honesty here (regarding TV, simple dinners, no daily baths). My husband works nights and while he is home/awake in AM, the evenings are the hardest! So much needs to happen in such a short time. I agree with the pp who said to start early. Today my kids sat down to dinner at 445! They eat, wash up, help me clean the toy room. By then it's just after six, we have time for a story or two or a show (if they haven't already been watching too much in the afternoon) while I finish the dinner time clean up before bed, which is 7pm. Knowing bedtime is so close usually gives me a spurt of energy around 5pm. Lately I've been especially diligent about keeping to the schedule. Having that time alone (7-9) before my Dh is up is just delightful. Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
  21. I tried this yesterday when my three year old peed his pants. Does this holiday have minimum age requirements? Because it didn't go very well. :) Sent from my U9200 using Tapatalk
